General Membership Meeting - June - Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Bonnie Corbett at 7:31p.m. at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 63 members and 7 guests present. Bonnie welcomed all that were in attendance. Jerry Lawrence led us in the pledge of allegiance.

Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens thanked membership for all the business we send their way and LVCA for choosing Findlay for our repairs. He also mentioned that he feels he is getting ready to retire and just enjoy driving his Vette.

A motion to approve the April 2019 meeting minutes - Brenda Cavallo made a motion to approve as presented and Bob O'Brien seconded. The motion carried and was approved.

Birthdays for April were read by Lin Hoernke.

President's Report: Connie Gentry and Bonnie Corbett did the 3 month audit and everything came out to the penny. The Presidents Run will be to the Queen Mary February 28 thru March 1st 2020.

Treasurer's Report: Connie Gentry said we are looking good financially. The General Events are doing better than expected.

Old Business: By-laws - Carl Hastings presented a By-Law change submitted by Ken Rees, pertaining to the Membership Chair: about members having to show their registration each year they renew their membership. The by-laws committee does not think this change is necessary. The Board though approved of the change. Discussion was held and voting will be done at the July meeting.

New Business: New members and Guests were introduced by Membership Chair, Kathy Ackeret. The guests were: Elena Hoernke and Roy Hoernke III, Renate Olds, Sharon Boyd. Chris Collinsworth became a member this evening. New members plaques went to Bryan and Maria Anderson, Britton Braswell, and John Julian. Welcome to all.

Committee Reports:
Sunshine - Holley Holran read a lovely thank you note from Lin Hoernke for the flowers and prayer while she was in the hospital. It was amazing to see her at the meeting tonight; she is the energizer bunny for sure. Clayton Bromberg was in attendance looking chipper. Joel Thies remains in Summerlin Hospital on a respirator, our thoughts and prayers go out to all.

Director- Mike Borders spoke about replacement insurance and will have all the quotes ready to present at the July meeting (see document here).

Racers Edge - Lanny Lowman asked for volunteers for Team Vegas Vettes for the upcoming September 12-15th Road Race. It will take 30 people to run the race from Vegas Vettes.

Vice President - Marsha Borders announced she is looking for a venue for the 2020 Banquet either on January 18th or January 25. If anyone knows a great venue, please contact her.

Storekeeper - Cindy Fuller told membership many things were on sale in the club store, be sure and stop by and look.

Events - Ken Ackeret announced the theme word for this month was "Driving." Count how many times he says the word.Upcoming Events: -

    • June 15th a drive to Laughlin to see Don Laughlin's car collection, meet at Town Square at 9am.
    • June 20th Bonnie Corbett is putting on an event to The Italian American Club, the Jimmy Hopper Show, event tickets are $25. And dinner is from the menu, show starts 7-9.
    • June 28th is Drive Your Corvette To Work Day.
    • June 29th John Fuller will hold a Garage Gang at his house, they will replace a master cylinder on a C-3.
    • July 13th Marsha has an event to see the Sesil Jenkins Show, the tickets are $39 and include a VIP buffet, arrive at 5.
    • July 27th Brenda and Jimmy Cavallo are hosting an event at the Mob Museum, $14 to get into the museum and then dinner at the Triple 7. meet on the steps of the museum at 2:30.
    • August 10th Barry will be having a Dam Run
    • August 22, meet and greet for Corvette Caravan hosted by Sandra Hart.
    • August 24 is the Mount Charleston Run headed by Connie Gentry. Meet at 10:15 at Santa Fe, lunch is $20 and this is a Community Service so $5 per person will go to Mt. Charleston volunteer fire fighters.
    • October 18th the Ghost Train Run to Ely, with Gino and Scarlett Montoya.

Miscellaneous Announcements - Gino had a birthday card for everyone to sign for Joel Thies. Jerry Lawrence is preforming at the Pioneer Saloon July 6th 5-10pm. Kathy Ackeret gave out Silver Badges to the members who had been in the club 25 years or longer.

Clean Car Award - Roe Hoernke gave out a May Clean Car award which went to Tommy DeGennaro and Bob Humphrey gave out the Clean Car award for June which went to Roy Hoernke. The Dirty little Pig raised his head this month and went to Larry Duis. Congratulations to one and all.
Badge Drawing - the $25 this month went to Jan Humphrey.

Raffle was held, The 50/50 was $135.00 and was won by Ken DePiero

Motion to Adjourn: Tommy DeGennaro made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by Tony Bird. The motion was carried and was approved. The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
