General Membership Meeting - May - Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Bonnie Corbett at 7:30 p.m. at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 53 members and 5 guests present. Bonnie welcomed all that were in attendance. Dave Smith led us in the pledge of allegiance.


Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens spoke about the mid-engine corvette that will be revealed on July 18th. He also said he appreciates our club sending people with Vettes in need of repair to him.

A motion to approve the April 2019 meeting minutes - Sharron Grodzinsky made a motion to approve as presented and Jeff Blue seconded. The motion carried and was approved.

Birthdays for April were read by Marsha Borders.

President's Report: Bonnie wished all mother's Happy Mother's Day and presented each one with a carnation. The Findlay Car show planned for June has been cancelled.

Treasurer's Report: Connie Gentry was visiting her Mother for Mother's Day, so Bonnie announce the Treasurer's Report is on line, if anyone would like to check it out.

By-laws - Carl Hastings reported that the By-laws to be voted on this meeting, was the Bylaw Change to include a distinction given to members who had been in the club 25 years a distinction of being a Silverback Gorilla. The majority of active members voted no and it was voted down. The addition to the By-Law was not passed.

New Business: New members and Guests were introduced by Membership Chair, Kathy Ackeret, Our guests were Barbara Sayen, Byran and Maria Anderson, John Moran and Gregg Kushimen. Joining the club and receiving their plaques this evening were Cecil and Marlene Cunningham. Welcome to all.

Committee Reports:

Sunshine - Benita Klaizner announced, Lin Hoernke is in the hospital after having to have a double heart bypass, she is now out of ICU and is doing well. Rosette DeGennaro is ill and we all wish her our best. Carl Corbett is dealing with a congestive heart condition, but he was here with his big smile looking well. Anniversaries this month: Jim and Dawn Gregorio, 11 years, Mike and Marsha Borders 44 years, and Kathy and Ken Ackeret were married April 27th

Director- Mike Borders spoke about replacement insurance and will have all the quotes ready to present at the June meeting.

Racers Edge - Ken Rees announced the Racers Edge Program is concentrating on Auto Cross and Drag Racing this year. Silver State Race is up and running and that Race is May 16th thru May 19th.

Vice President - Marsha Borders announced she is looking for fresh faces, and new ideas for the Awards Banquet.

Storekeeper - Cindy Fuller told membership many things were on sale in the club store, be sure and stop by and look.

Events - Ken Ackeret announced the theme word for this month was "Excited". Count how many times he says the word. Upcoming Events - May 16-19 is Silver State Race. May 25th a Road Run to Boulder City is being chaired by Kathy and Ken and Bonnie and Carl. This will be a community service event with monies going to Boulder City Rotary Club. A caravan will form at town Center and also a caravan at the Fiesta Casino. June 15th there will be a surprise Road Run. John Fuller will hold a Garage Gang at this house on June 29th. On August 10th Barry will be having a Dam Run, on August 22, meet and greet for Corvette Caravan hosted by Sandra Hart. August 24 is the Mount Charlestion Run headed by Connie Gentry. And October 18th the Ghost Train Run to Ely, with Gino and Scarlett Montoya.

Miscellaneous Announcements - Benita was giving a VHS tape of a 2003 Corvette, Jeff Blue said there was a meet-up at Twin Peaks on Eastern, June 2nd at 4:30pm to visit with former Members Gorden, and Jenny McLister who now live in Austria.

Clean Car Award - Bonnie Corbett announced there would be no clean car award tonight due to the rain.

Badge Drawing - the $25 this month went to Scarlett Montoya

Raffle was held, the 50/50 was $146 and won by Barb Belack.

Motion to Adjourn: Benita Klaizner made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by Bob O'Brian. The motion was carried and was approved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:56 p.m.
