General Membership Meeting - March- Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Bonnie Corbett at 7:30 p.m. at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 53 members and 7 guests present. Bonnie welcomed all that were in attendance. Jerry Lawrence led us in the pledge of allegiance.

Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens thanked all members for patronizing Findley for all their Corvette needs. Slim introduced his friend Woody Lewis who will be signing up for membership.

A motion to approve the February 2019 meeting minutes – Scott Mergele made a motion to approve as presented and Kathy Clapp seconded. The motion carried and was approved.

Birthdays for March were read by Lin Hoernke.

President’s Report: Bonnie announce that Cindy Fuller has agreed to stay on as out Storekeeper. A motion was made by Carl Hastings, Irene Duis seconded. The motion was carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Connie Gentry reports that everything is looking good as we look at the months ahead.

Old Business: Kathy Clapp gave out the 45th Anniversary Rockers that members earned for events during the 45th Anniversary year.

New Business: New members and Guests were introduced by Membership Chair, Kathy Clapp, New members – joining tonight, Mike Mankin with a 2003, and Dan and Bobby Painter with a 2017. Receiving their plaque this evening was Carl Solomon. Rejoining to night, Ken and Jean Fiorentino. Welcome to all.

Committee Reports:

Sunshine – Sharron Grodzinsky filled in for Benita Klaizner. She welcomed back Nancy Ledwon who is doing well, Joel Theis is in Summerlin Hospital room 671 and would enjoy visitors. Benita Klaizner’s Mom is having surgery and we wish her well. Thayne Colvin has prostate surgery and is recovering very well. Anniversaries – Nancy and Denny Ledwon, 55 years, Carl and Bonnie Corbett, 40 years, and Deb and Jim Leatham, 38 years. Congratulations to all. Nancy Ledwon thanked the club for the beautiful plant sent to her. Sharron Grodzinsky announced her son was home from prison and flourishing.

Director - Mike Borders asked the membership to think about whether they would like to stay with NCCC, or look into other alternatives. Members would have to approve the change. A vote will be held in May. A motion was made by Carl Hasings asking that the membership would continue looking into other insurances. Seconded by Scott Mergele.

By Laws Chair - Carl Hastings read bylaw changes that will be published in this month’s Newsvetter. Carl Hastings explained how the by-laws are handled. They are read at a meeting, then published in that months Newsvetter. The month after that they are voted on by the membership.

Storekeeper – Cindy Fuller announced the store would be going on line, and also that she was having a sale in the store.

Racers Edge – Ken Rees announced the next Racer’s Edge Drag races will be March 16 at 11:00 a.m. and March 23. Auto Cross Races are scheduled for April 14, May 5, October 13, November 3, and December 8. The Nevada Open Road Challenge will be May 16-19 this year.

Events – Ken Ackeret announced the theme word for this month was “Great” Count how many times he says the word. Upcoming Events - St. Patrick’s Day Parade lead by Scarlett Montoya, will be held on March 16th. Staging time: 8:30 a.m. Parade starts at 10 a.m. This will be a community service event.

April 5th Neon Museum chaired by Scarlett Montoya we will meet at 5 p.m. for Dinner at Dona Maria’s then proceed to the Neon Museum at 8 p.m. for the “Brilliant Show”.

Garage gang – John Fuller will host garage gang on March 30th 9am. He will be changing his headlights to LED’s.

On April 13, Benita Klaizner will be heading a Road Run, which will include Searchlight and the Pioneer Saloon.
Bob and Jan Humphrey will chair the September 29th Road Run “Vette-Together at the winery” (Sanders in Pahrump).

Miscellaneous Announcements – Jenny and Gordon McLister will be in town on June 2nd and would like to meet with us at Twin Peaks in Henderson, Donna Mergele is looking for a place for the Ladies Luncheon she will keep us informed. Sandra Hart thanked Lennard Grodzinsky for all his hard work on the new website.

Clean Car Award – Roy Hoernke announce the 2 clean car awards given this month. First, Ken Kroger for his C5 and Ken Fiorentino for his C7. An award was brought back from years ago, The Pig Award, it is for the person having the dirtiest car of the night. Ken Ackeret won that distinction this evening. An adorable pink pig was given to Ken and Ken gave a gracious speech accepting the award.

Badge Drawing – Cindy Fullers name was drawn and she won $45.00. The prize money goes back to $25.00 for next month.

Raffle was held.

Motion to Adjourn: Jeff Blue made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by Kathy Clapp. The motion was carried and was approved. The meeting was adjourned at 9:21p.m.
