General Membership Meeting - February 2019- Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Bonnie Corbett at 7:32 p.m. at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 38 members and 3 guests present. Bonnie welcomed all that were in attendance. President Bonnie Corbett led us in the pledge of allegiance.

Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens was not in attendance due to a case of the flu. We all wish him well.

A motion to approve the January, 2019 meeting minutes – Sharron Grodzinsky made a motion to approve as presented and Ken Ackeret seconded. The motion carried and was approved. Lennard Grodzinsky was approved at the Board meeting to be part of the Audit committee.

Birthdays for February were read by Lin Hoernke.

President’s Report: Bonnie announce that Lanny Lowman and Ken Rees would be co -chairs of the open road races.

Treasurer’s Report: Connie Gentry presented the budget for 2019. Benita Klaizner made a motion to approve the 2019 budget, Scarlett Montoya seconded. The motion was carried and approved.

Old Business: None

New Business: New members and Guests were introduced by Membership Chair, Kathy Clap. Guest: Jodie Kromroy (wife of Jon Kromroy). Joining tonight: Chris Collinsworth and Britton Braswell.

Committee Reports:

Sunshine – Benita announced that Nancy Ledwon had triple by-pass heart surgery, and that she is home and doing very well, also that February 1st was Nancy and Dennis’ 55th wedding anniversary. Karen and Ed Anderson celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on February 6th. Scott White is getting married. Marsha Borders thanks everyone for their calls while she was sick last week. Sheryl and Rudy Bloom lost their dog to a sudden illness. And Benita and Jerry Klaizner will be celebrating their 36th wedding anniversary February 25th.

Events – The Super Bowl Party held at Benita’s and Jerry’s was a great success and terrific raffle prizes were won. Ken Ackeret announced the theme word for this month was “love”. Count how many times he says the word.

Upcoming Events - Garage Gang – is at Carl Corbett’s on February 16th, arrive at 9:30 a.m. and the project will be cleaning Carl’s air cleaner.

Bracket Drags #1 will be held February 17th at LVMS.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade led by Benita Klaizner will be held on March 16th. Staging time: 8:30 a.m. Parade starts at 10 a.m. This will be a community service event.

Bracket Drags #2 will also be held on March 16th at the LVMS.

Road Run – the next Road Run will be held March 17th a chairperson is needed.

Garage Gang – will be held March 30th at John Fuller’s house at 9 a.m. The project will be head lights.

April 5th Neon Museum chaired by Scarlett Montoya we will meet at 5 p.m. for Dinner at Chicago Joe’s, then proceed to the Neon Museum at 8 p.m. for the “Brilliant Show”.

Road Run on April 13th, chaired by Benita Klaizner will meet at Railroad Pass Casino, drive to Searchlight for a bite to eat, a stop in Nipton, then on to Pioneer Saloon. Time to be announced. Ken thanked Barb and Ray Belack for chairing the Open road Races for so many years.

Miscellaneous Announcements:

Scott Mergle –announced that Donna has set up a Monthly Ladies Lunch, the first one to be held on March 7th at Marie Callanders on Sahara and Paradise, 10:30 a.m. please R.S.V.P.

Mike Borders – The 4 day firearm training course has 15 people signed up already.

Sandra Hart – the 2019 Corvette Caravan will be coming thru Las Vegas on Thursday August 22nd, meeting at Fiesta Hotel with 200-250 cars.

Dave Smith – knows of a 2016 -Z06 All options, 16,000 miles, yellow and black corvette for sale.

Clean Car Award – Roy announced due to the rainy weather, there would be no Clean Car Award tonight, but that next month, there would be 2 awards given out.

Badge Drawing – Myra Bird’s name was drawn but she was not present. The prize money goes to $45 in March.

50/50 was won by Barb Belack.

Raffle was held.

Motion to Adjourn: Marsha Borders made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by Sharron Grodzinsky. The motion was carried and was approved. The meeting was adjourned at 8:59 p.m.
