General Membership Meeting - January 2019- Minutes

The Meeting was called to order by President Bonnie Corbett at 7:30 p.m. at the McDonald Ranch Community Club House. There were 71 members and 4 guests in attendance. Bonnie welcomed all members and guests.

Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens announced that Findlay Chevrolet will be our sponsor for the year 2019. Bonnie asked for a motion to approve the sponsorship. Connie Gentry made a motion to approve and Jimmy Cavallo seconded. The motion was approved.

December Minutes: Gary Moore requested the December 13, 2018 minutes be read aloud to the membership. The minutes were read by Sharron Grodzinsky. A motion was made by Benita Klaizner to approve them and seconded by Marsha Borders. The December 2018 Minutes were approved.

Elections: Secretary: Holley Holran was nominated by Gino Montoya. Director: Scott White was nominated by Jeff Blue. Carl Hastings was nominated by Larry Duis. Skip Kelley called to close the nominations, Jeff Blue seconded. Nominations were closed. Ballots were passed out and after their return, the new Secretary elect is Holley Holran, and the new Director elect is Scott White.

Guests and New Members: Kathy Clapp introduced the guests: Dan and Bobbi Painter with a Long Beach red 2017 Z06, Mike Mankin with a 50th Anniversary black 2003, and Britton Brasell with a black 1998 Coupe. New Members were Presented with their Plaques. Our new members are: Randy Bright and John Kromroy.

Birthdays for January were read by Lin Hoernke.

A motion was made by Benita Klaizner to approve the 2019 Board and Chairpersons and seconded by Roy Hoernke. The motion was approved. It was opposed by three members.

Old Business: None

New Business: Our new Webmaster, Lennard Grodzinsky, spoke about how the website is a wealth of history and archives and how important it is to update it. He is looking for club members to participate on a committee to investigate how and what to update. Please contact him at lennard@rgrgroup.com.

A motion was made by Roy Hoernke and seconded by Carl Corbett to destroy all ballots from our December meeting. The motion carried.
Jeff Blue and Dawn Gregorio volunteered to audit the books. A motion was made to approve and voted on. It was approved by the membership.

Committee Reports:

Sunshine: Clayton Bromberg had a bowel resection, and the complication of ARDS, a serious lung condition, on December 21st. As of the last 2 days, he’s sitting up and talking. Ken and Terry Rees are celebrating their 34th anniversary. Lin Horenke reported her 5th grandson was born this morning at 5:08 a.m.

Racers Edge: Lanny Lohman spoke about Racers Edge’s history and will be passing the baton on to someone else. If anyone is interested, please contact Bonnie.

Drag Racing: Lanny spoke for Ken Rees about the Drag Races. The first race is February 17th. The cost is $20 to join the group. Vegas Valley Vette club members have been asked to join us in drag racing. Lennard Grodzinsky made a motion to approve the Drag Racing program, and Jeff Blue seconded. The motion carried.

Store: Kathy Clapp announced the rest of the Anniversary shirts have arrived.

Upcoming Events: Ken Ackeret led the discussion.

New Event: Mike Borders proposed a 2-4-day hand gun event be held. The cost would be $100 for the entire event. Anyone interested please contact him.

Scheduled Events: January 13 - Skip Kelly is holding this month’s Road Run to the Pioneer Saloon. They will leave the M Casino lot at 10 a.m.

January 19 _ Garage Gang is being held at The Skip Shack. It starts at 9:00 a.m. A Leak Down Test will be highlighted.

January 19 - Annual Awards Banquet will be held at Sunset Gardens from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. The chairperson is Marsha Borders.

January 27 - Laps for Charity (c/s) held by Connie Gentry for the 8th time. The cost is $35.00. The track time
is 9:30. Meet at Shelby’s old parking lot no later than 9 a.m.

Feb 3 - Super Bowl party hosted by Benita Klaizner at their home at 1 p.m.

Feb 9 - Skip’s Presidents Run. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Fiesta Casino in Henderson. Then the group will travel the scenic back roads to Overton for ice cream.

Feb 16 - Garage Gang at Carl Corbett’s featuring the Calloway Air System.

March 16 - St. Patrick’s Day Parade (c/s) hosted by Benita Klaizner. Staging in Henderson from 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. We’ve been participating in this parade to honor Dennis and Nancy Ledwon’s granddaughter for seven years.

Miscellaneous Announcements: Donna Mergele would like to start a monthly Ladies Luncheon. Jerry Lawrence announced a contact for Custom Covers for Corvettes: $550. Randy has a 1993 corvette for sale: $7,995.00 with 120,000 miles on it.

Clean Car award: C5 green SDL

Badge drawing: $35. The name called was Ralph Terry, who was not present. Next month’s Badge drawing will be $40.00.

50/50: $125.00 won by Lin Hoernke

Raffle Drawings were held.

Motion to Adjourn: Bonnie asked for a motion to adjourn. Benita Klaizner made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Bob O’Brien. The motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 9:18 p.m.
