The meeting was called to order by President Skip Kelley
at 7:30 p.m. at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 65 members
and 6 guests present. Skip welcomed all in attendance. .
Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens had not had an accident since
1968 but he had an accident with his Corvette. He thanked Ken Rees for
helping him get his car towed. Paul Patane is not here because he is
backed up on Vette repairs. Slim thanked the club for supporting Findlay.
A motion to approve the November 8, 2018 meeting minutes – Jerry
Lawrence made a motion to approve as presented and Nita Russell seconded.
The motion carried and was approved.
Birthdays for December were read by Denise Karpa.
President's Report: Skip Kelley reported that Bob Humphrey stepped
up to do the Vetter. Skip thanked Jimmy Cavallo for the years he spent
as Editor of the Vetter.
Web Hosting: Skip Kelley reported that Pat Russell informed him
that he has changed to Go Daddy as our new Web Host. Pat stated that
it should be a seamless change over, but could take a few days. Passwords
will be sent once the change takes place.
Skip Kelley asked the membership if anyone present did not know that
the elections were being held tonight or that nominations were closed
last month. The membership acknowledged that they all knew about the
elections and nominations. A motion was made to reopen the nominations
for President by Ken Ackeret, this was seconded by Scott Mergele. Motion
passed.
Benita Klaizner nominated Bonnie Corbett for President, this was seconded
by Kathy Clapp. Motion passed. Ken Ackeret made a motion to close the
nominations, this was seconded by Charlie Ferguson. Motion passed.
Skip Kelley noted that Scott White is in the hospital with an infection
and could not be here for the elections. Candidates all came forward
to speak before the election. The elections ballots were handed out
and elections were taken.
Old Business: None.
New Business: New Members and Guests were read by Julie Cantonwine.
Bridget Edwards and Sandra Hart got their plaques tonight. Jon Kromroy
will be joining tonight. Visitors were Dan Painter, Marshall Buck, Randy
Bright, Dan Bolton and Norma Miarecki.
By-Law Change: Carl Hastings presented the spouse/companion
member and officers by-law changes and outlined the procedure. Carl
read the current and proposed change. Denise Karpa provided her input
on why she presented the by-law change. Larry Duis made comments as
well as other. A motion was made to vote on both by-law changes together
by Jeff Blue and seconded by Sally McVane. Motion passed. The vote was
15 for the combination vote, and 23 for the sole votes. Both by-law
changes did not pass. A total of 43 members were needed to pass.
Committee Reports:
Sunshine – Julie Cantonwine's sister passed away. Linda Simpson
had knee surgery. Leona Beltz is in a rehabilitation hospital. Jackie
Fleenor's cancer is in remission. Ellie Johnson has been in the hospital
3 times 45th Anniversary – Kathy Clapp reported that the patches are
in. If you ordered something last month it will be here next month.
The shirt subsidy goes away after tonight. Racer’s Edge – Lanny
Lowman has a trophy for the most recent autocross event, given to Ken
Rees. Winner of the series will be given at the banquet. Lanny also
had 2 trophies for Marvin Maize.
Upcoming Events: Suitcase drive is tonight. Cookie Exchange will
be hosted by Sandra Hart this Sunday from noon to 4:00 PM, at their
home. Car Show at Eastern will be this Saturday. Monthly Road Run to
Pioneer Saloon on January 13th at 10:00 AM, meet at the "M".
Garage Gang will be monthly, the first one to be held on January 19th.
The only way to get a T-Shirt is to host one. Skip Kelley outlined his
President's Run itinerary to Palm Springs in February. Awards Banquet
- Marsha Borders noted the invitations went out in the mail. Laps for
Charity is January 27th, same program as last year. $35.00 per car to
benefit the Speedway Children's Charities. You can register online.
Miscellaneous Announcements: Mike Borders has a motor for sale
for $2,500; Barry Jacobson noted he has racing tires and wheels for
sale for a C-7.
Clean Car Award: Benita Klaizner announced that the winner is
Scarlett Stuart. Badge Drawing – John Scott's name was drawn, but he
was not in attendance. 50/50 - $135 was won by Ken DePiero. Raffles
were held.
The 2019 Election results were announced: President - Bonnie Corbett;
Vice-President - Marsha Borders; Secretary - Denise Karpa; Treasurer
- Connie Gentry and Director - Mike Borders.
Motion to adjourn: Jeff Blue made a motion to adjourn which was
seconded by Kathy Clapp. The motion carried and was approved. The meeting
adjourned at 9:40 p.m. by President Elect Bonnie Corbett.
