The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Clapp
at 7:35 PM at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 73 members and
3 guests present. Kathy Clapp welcomed everyone here tonight.
Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens thanked us for all our referrals
to Findlay Chevrolet. He also stated that Findlay is having a donation
drive until 12/18/17. They are taking bedding, blankets for the homeless
and clothing for women & children in shelters.
A motion to approve the November 9, 2017 meeting minutes - Scott
Mergele made the motion to approve as presented, Bob O'Brien seconded,
motion carried, motion approved. Birthday's for December were read by
Holley Holran.
President's Report: Kathy Clapp thanked the Ballot Committee
for their work: Scarlet Stuart, Irene Duis and Judy Hastings. Kathy
Clapp opened the floor for a nomination of Denise Karpa for the position
of 2018 Secretary. Scarlett Stuart made the motion to accept the nomination
and Skip Kelley seconded the motion, motion carried and motion passed.
Nita Russell made the motion to now close the floor of nominations,
Rick McSimov seconded this motion. Motion carried, motion approved.
Kathy Clapp then invited the 2018 Election Nominees to come forward
for a brief speech. Coming forward are: Director - Benita Klaizner,
Scott Mergele and Lanny Lowman read a statement for Curt Russell. Treasurer
- Connie Gentry. Secretary - Denise Karpa, Vice-President - Holley Holran,
Linda Simpson. President - Skip Kelley, Kathy Clapp. 2018 Election:
Kathy Clapp read the 2018 Membership list for those qualified to vote
tonight. The Ballot Committee passed out and retrieved the voting ballots.
Treasurer's Report: Connie Gentry reported that we are $4,000.00
in the black with all the renewal coming in. She also requested that
if your have any invoices or monies for 2017 please get them to her
as soon as possible.
Old Business: Kathy Clapp stated that the NCCC dues are paid
and the check is in the mail.
New Business: New Members and Guest were read by Julie Cantonwine.
Guest this evening are James Canitz, Jay Veneaux and Karen Salk. New
member joining tonight is Slim Stephens.
Committee Reports: Sunshine: Terry Rees read a thank you card
from Carol Newman for her husband. Jerry Lawrence is having a complete
knee replacement at Spring Valley Hospital, he would love visitors,
Rm #2026 in the new wing.
Racers Edge: Lanny Lowman stated the winner of the Autocross
was Jerry Cline He then stated that we will not be participating in
the Mohave Mile line-up this year, they have doubled their prices. He
also stated that the 2018 Racer's Edge Schedule has been sanctioned.
$40.00 for membership in Racer's Edge.
Upcoming Events: Denise Karpa brought up Carl Hastings to let
everyone know that this is the 14th year for the Suitcase Drive. Over
these years we averaged 80 bags a year, times 14 is over 1,100 bags
for Child Haven. Brenda Cavallo stated that Adopt-AKettle is this Saturday,
12/16, from 8 AM - 5 PM at the Smiths in Aliante, there is plenty of
space left to participate. Skip Kelley came up and stated the next three
Cars & Coffee are: Saturdays, 1/6/18, 2/6/18, & 3/3/18. Denise
Karpa stated that the first Autocross is 1/14/18. Rex Wilhoite stated
to get your reservations and check in to the Annual Awards Banquet.
We have 45 members going so far. This is on Saturday, 1/20/18 at Sunset
Gardens. Connie Gentry reported the Laps for Charity is on 1/28/18,
race time is 9:30 AM. We will be meeting at the old Shelby location
at 8:45 AM - 9:00 AM. Lunch to follow at Moe's Race Day Cafe. Registration
is on line, $35.00 Connie Gentry also presented the 75th Birthday Party
for Jim Weeks on 2/24/18 at the Pioneer Saloon for lunch. More information
coming soon. Benita Klaizner presented the St. Patrick's Day Parade
on 3/17/18 on Water Street. She will need convertibles again this year
to drive the dignitaries at the beginning of the parade. There will
be coffee & donuts while we wait. Kathy Clapp presented her President's
Run on Friday - Sunday, 3/23-25/18 in Solvang, CA Friday night will
be a welcome reception, Saturday will be the Mendenhall Museum and dinner
at AJ Saloon & Dining Hall. More information to come soon.
Miscellaneous Announcements: Rex Wilhoite stated there is still
spaces available for the 2018 Cruise in February.. Bonnie Corbett asked
the membership for their opinion for the 45th Anniversary Dinner to
be held on Friday or Sunday night? By show of hands Friday night was
voted to be the preference.
Clean Car Award: Lin Hoernke and Jack Gordan reported that this
month was won by Scarlett Stuart.
Badge Drawing: Karen Anderson was not present, badge drawing
will be $40.00 next month. 50/50: $173.00 was won this month
by Scott Mergele Raffles: were held.
2018 Election Results: Scarlett Stuart read the 2018 Election results:
Director - Curt Russell; Treasurer - Connie Gentry; Secretary - Denise
Karpa; Vice-President - Holley Holran and President - Skip Kelley. Kathy
Clapp congratulated all the winners. To continue the club's tradition
Kathy Clapp passed the gavel onto Skip Kelley to close the December
Membership Meeting.
Skip Kelley asked for a motion to adjourn: Linda Simpson made a
motion to adjourn which was seconded by Tommy DeGennaro. The motion
carried and motion approved. The meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM.
