General Membership Meeting - November 9, 2017- Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Clapp at 7:30 PM at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 52 members and 9 guests present. Kathy Clapp welcomed everyone here tonight. Kathy Clapp asked all Veterans to please stand and be recognized so that we can thank you for your service.

Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens mentioned that he drove here tonight in his 65' Vette. He then thanked us for all our referrals to Findlay Chevrolet.

A motion to approve the October 12, 2017 meeting minutes - Jim Cavallo made the motion to approve as presented, Scott Mergele seconded, motion carried, motion approved.

Birthday's for November were read by Holley Holran.

President's Report: Kathy Clapp asked for approval of Findlay Chevrolet as our sponsor for 2018 and that we also have two Sponsor Representative Memberships. This year the Board voted to provide two club memberships and with the club's approval tonight a 2018 club membership will be provided to Slim Stephens & Paul Patane. This motion was made by Skip Kelley and seconded by Denise Karpa, Motion carried and approved. Kathy Clapp stated that the 45th Anniversary Committee met to start making arrangements for next year. She presented pictures of the Americana Polo Shirts for women and men. These shirts would be on an order form to be ordered all year long. It was suggested from the floor to get samples of these shirts. Cost for shirts would be approximately $65.00 each with everything on it. Kathy Clapp tabled this so the samples can be ordered and then motion for approval.

Treasurer's Report: Kathy Clapp reported that the full treasurers report is online on our website under the member's only section.

Old Business: Kathy Clapp stated that the NCCC dues will be sent out tomorrow. Kathy Clapp then reminded everyone that your renewal and NCCC dues must be paid by 12/1 in order to vote next month.

Committee Reports: 2018 Nominations:
Debra Leatham and the Nomination Committee: Ron Petersen & Benita Klaizner, made all the club membership call for volunteers for 2018 election positions. The following are members who have volunteered - President: Kathy Clapp - Gino Montoya made a motion to approve seconded by Scott Mergele, Motion carried and approved, Kathy Clapp accepted this nomination. Skip Kelley - Jerry Lawrence made a motion to approve seconded by Gary Moore, Motion carried and approved. Skip Kelley accepted this nomination. Vice President: Linda Simpson - Terry Rees made a motion to approve seconded by Skip Kelley, Motion carried and approved. Linda Simpson accepted this nomination. Holley Holran - Sharron Grodzinsky made a motion to approve seconded by Julie Cantonwine, Motion carried and approved. Holley Holran accepted this nomination. Treasurer: Connie Gentry - Denise Karpa made a motion to approve seconded by Benita Klaizner, Motion carried and approved. Connie Gentry accepted this nomination. Director: Benita Klaizner - Scarlett Stuart made a motion to approve seconded by Jerry Lawrence, Motion carried and approved. Benita Klaizner accepted this nomination. Scott Mergele - Holley Holran made a motion to approve seconded by Terry Rees, Motion carried and approved. Scott Mergele accepted this nomination. Curt Russell - Skip Kelley made a motion to approve seconded by Pat Russell, Motion carried and approved. Curt Russell accepted this nomination. The office of Secretary is open. All motions were carried and approved, Kathy Clapp asked for a motion to close the nominations, this motion was made by Skip Kelley and seconded by Tommy DeGennaro, Motion carried and approved. Nominations are now closed.

Sunshine
: Terry Rees stated that all members that were ailing or recovering from surgeries are doing good and well.

Racers Edge: Lanny Lowman stated the winners of the Racers Edge event #11 of the MTT are: 1st Place - Rick Bolin, 2nd Place - Jerry Cline, 3rd Place - Ken Rees, 4th Place - Mark Fetto and 5th Place - Marvin Maize. Lanny Lowman also stated that the Mohave Mile will be back next year. The next RE MTT is 11/19 at the LVMS.

Storekeepers:
Jim Annis stated to get your long sleeve sweatshirts now.

Upcoming Events
. Denise Karpa brought up Scott Mergele for the Findlay Chevrolet Thanksgiving Car Show, on Saturday 11/25. meet at 6:45 AM in front of Gaudin Ford so we can all drive in together and park together. This is a Community Service event which will be $5.00 per car for the YMCA. Skip Kelley reported that the next Cars & Coffee will be on 12/9 and 1/6/18 at Speed Vegas. We have a Parade Lap, raffle for a Ride-Along in a car of your choice, covered parking. Debra Leatham presented the Cookie Exchange on Sunday 12/10, 1 PM - 4 PM at the home of Debra and Jim Leatham. Bring 3 dozen cookies to exchange. There will be soups and chili to eat. Dress is Christmas attire. Carl Hastings presented the Suitcase Drive on 12/14, at the December General Meeting. Bring your suitcases, backpacks, etc. This is a Community Service Event for Child Haven. Brenda Cavallo presented the Adopt-AKettle on Saturday, 12/16 at the Smith's Grocery Store in Aliante. 8 AM - 5PM, work in 1 hour slots, or stay longer. Dress in Christmas attire. There will be a lot of fun, music, singing and raising lots of money. This is a Community Service event for The Salvation Army. Rex Wilhoite stated that the Annual Awards Banquet invitation have been mailed out. Please get your reservation in now. This is on Saturday, 1/20/18 at Sunset Gardens. Denise Karpa reported the Laps for Charity is on 1/28/18, more information to come.

Miscellaneous Announcements: Joel Thies stated there is a car show at the VA Hospital this Friday at 10 AM - 3 PM, no cost, all are welcome. Pat Russell stated 2 safety items for thought: 1) keep your key pod next to your bed for if there is an emergency during the night you can use this to press for emergency services needed; 2) PDR states buckles belt - on, off and delete if nothing happens, this store your information for accident or emergencies.

Clean Car Award: Ken Rees and Ken Kroeger reported that this month was won by Jack Gordan.

Badge Drawing: Bruce Lockner was not present, badge drawing will be $35.00 next month. 50/50: $151.00 was won this month by Jim Di Iorio. Raffles: were held.

A motion to adjourn: Jerry Lawrence made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by Scarlett Stuart. The motion carried and motion approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:48 PM.
