The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Clapp at 7:30 PM at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 67 members and 7 guests present. Kathy Clapp welcomed everyone here tonight. Kathy Clapp called for a moment of silence for the 58 victims of the Las Vegas shooting on October 1st.
Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens mentioned that he is finalizing a sale of a Corvette for himself. He then thanked us for all our support of Findlay Chevrolet.
Kathy Clapp then brought up the NCM Ambassador, Bob O'Brien who presented the banner from the Corvette Museum that hung there for 1 years. Bob O'Brien stated that we will do this again in 2019.
A motion to approve the September 14, 2017 meeting minutes - Skip Kelley made the motion to approve as presented, Lin Hoernke seconded, motion carried, motion approved.
Birthdays for October were read by Lin Hoernke.
President's Report: Kathy Clapp asked for 3 volunteers to serve on the Nominating Committee. Benita Klaizner, Ron Petersen and Debra Leatham volunteered. The committee for the 45th Anniversary will be having their first meeting on October 25th.
Treasurer's Report: Connie Gentry stated that the complete financials are on the website under Members Only. We are looking good, the renewals are coming in. Kathy Clapp stated that the August and September actual are not on the website, but will be coming soon.
Old Business: Kathy Clapp stated that the NCCC dues are due in November.
New Business: New Members and Guest were read by Julie Cantonwine. Guest this evening are Tim Rankin, Jay Veneaux, Karen Salk, Gino Mars, John Leighton and John & Lori Lange. New Member tonight is Jan Kindell
Committee Reports: Sunshine: Lin Hoernke reported Ron Petersen had cataract surgery, here tonight and doing good. Kay Petersen is home from the hospital and recovering. Marsha Borders has knee surgery and is recovering. Jim Gentry had hip surgery and hopes to go home tomorrow. Racers Edge: Lanny Lowman stated we had a great turn out for the SSCC Open Road Event. Rick Bolin won the 100 mph class on his first time out. Pat Russell finished second in the 120 mph. Larry Creighton took third place out of 21 others in the 110 mph class. Gary Moore finished 8th in the 150 mph class. Ken Rees and Lanny Lowman finished fourth and third in the 155 mph class. A thank you to Skip Kelley who provided services of leading and participating in the tire inspections at the final grid. Plaques & Trophies tonight go to Larry Creighton, Rick Bolin, Ken Rees, Gary Moore, Pat Russell, Skip Kelley and myself. Drag Racing: Lanny Lowman presented tonight for Ken Rees. The last drag racing event was held on September 23rd. Plaques going out tonight for this event are: 1st Place - Mike Kerro; Runner Up - Lanny Lowman; 1st Round Closest to Dial In - Lanny Lowman; 1st Round Best Reaction Time - Quickest ET and Fastest MPH - Mike Kerro (all three). Mosseyback: Debra Leatham, Mosseyback Liason, stated that the Mosseyback were sponsoring the Cookie Exchange this year on Sunday, December 10th. Bring 3 dozen cookies to exchange. Eat some soup & chili, mingle and have fun. $5.00 per member and non-member. They still need Mosseyback to volunteer for the committee, sign up is at her table.
Upcoming Events. Denise Karpa brought up Ron Petersen who stated the Las Vegas Cruise-In Car Show on Saturday, 10/14, at Speed Vegas, 9 AM - 12 PM, show up at 7:30 AM if you want to help park our cars. Roy Hoernke will be forming a caravan at the "M" at 8 AM on the west side, east side of LV Blvd. Registration is $20.00 per car, which is being paid for all LVCA members by Findlay Chevrolet. Must register on line. This is a Community Service event. Ron Petersen also stated to put on your calendar on 11/25 for the Findlay Chevrolet Thanksgiving Car Show, flyers to come. This is a Community Service event. Lanny Lowman stated on 10/15 & 11/19 will be the last and final Auto Cross for the year. Ken Ackeret came forward to inform us of the Monster Mash Car Bash on Saturday, 10/21. This is a Halloween themed event, so feel free to decorate your car (optional) and dress up yourself and bring candy for the kids to hand out. This is also a Community Service event for the New Horizons Center for Learning for children with Aspergers and other Autism Spectrum Disorders. Scarlett Stuart reported that there will be a Calico Ghost Haunted Run on Saturday 10/28. We will meet at Blue Hawk and caravan to Calico at 9 AM and lunch in Calico at 1 PM. Lots of activities, costumes are optional. Skip Kelley stated the next 2 Cars & Coffee will be on 11/4 & 12/9 at Speed Vegas. We have a Parade Lap, raffle for a Ride-Along in a car of your choice, covered parking. Carl Hastings presented the Suitcase Drive at the December General Meeting (12/14). Bring your suitcases, backpacks, etc. This is A Community Service Event for Child Haven. Brenda Cavallo presented the Adopt-A-Kettle on Saturday, 12/16 at the Smith's Grocery Store in Aliante. 8 AM - 5PM, work in 1 hour slots, or stay longer. Dress in Christmas attire. There will be a lot of fun, music, singing and raising lots of money. This is a Community Service event for The Salvation Army.
Miscellaneous Announcements: Kathy Clapp stated that she received an email of a Corvette for sale - 2011 Grand Sport. If you are interested please see her. Kathy Clapp also stated that the President of the Colorado River Corvette Club - who we just had the Meet-N-Greet with, has passed away. There is a card available for signatures. Holley Holran has Canon printer ink, see her for it. Pat Russell stated there is an on line auction from a former member with Corvette signage. Funds will go to the Las Vegas shooting victims. Tommy DeGennaro will be hosting a open house on 12/9 for Christmas, he has over 28,000 lights on the outside alone. Everyone welcome. Barbara & Ray Belak have C6 items for sale.
Clean Car Award: Roy Hoernke and Curt Russell reported that this month was won by Ken Kroeger. Badge Drawing: John Scott was not present, badge drawing will be $35.00 next month. 50/50: $166.00 was won this month by Victor Rodriguez, Sr.. Raffles: were held.
A motion to adjourn: Linda Simpson made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by Tommy DeGennaro. The motion carried and motion approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:52 PM.
