The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Clapp at 7:30 PM at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 54 members and 5 guests present. Kathy Clapp welcomed everyone here tonight. Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens thanked us on behalf of Doug Fleming for all our referrals. Thank you and we appreciate you all. A motion to approve the July 13, 2017 meeting minutes - Scott Mergele made the motion to approve as presented, Bob O'Brien seconded, motion carried, motion approved. Birthday's were read by Lin Hoernke. President's Report: Kathy Clapp reported that we were contacted by the NCCC Western Region representative regarding working and sponsoring the WSCC Car Show. If we sponsor and work this event that we will not be covered by our NCCC insurance. This will not be a sanctioned event but you are welcome to participate with WSCC in their car show event. You may work this event but not as a representative of LVCA. Also, Kathy Clapp informed us that the 2017 Logo pins, for those who have not received theirs yet, are on the table. For the new members, see Kathy Clapp after the meeting. Treasurer's Report: Kathy Clapp reported that we are doing good. We are still in the negative but once the dues start coming in we will be looking real good. Complete financials are on the website. Old Business: Kathy Clapp handed out an award from the Findlay Car Show to Frank and Carol Alba for "Outstanding Vehicle" New Business: New Members and Guest were read by Julie Cantonwine. Guest this evening are Jay Veneaur, Jerry Wood, Matt Crigger, Brian Barla and David Holmes. We welcomed new member Jack Gordon. Committee Reports: Sunshine: Terry Rees thanked Lin Hoernke for filling for her last month. Dale Foust is in a care center at this time. Storekeeper: Jim Annis reported that the screen printers have a new printer and can print 1 shirt at a time. We don't have to order in quantity anymore. He will have new items next month. Upcoming Events. Denise Karpa brought Brenda Cavallo up for the Mt. Charleston Run Away event. Meet at Santa Fe at 9:45 AM, depart at 10 AM. Lunch is at 11 AM, $17.00 per person - cash requested. This is a Community Service Event for the Mt. Charleston Volunteer Fire Department, $5.00 per person. Skip Kelley reported on Cars & Coffee that the event is Saturday before the monthly meetings. Meet cool people, see cool cars, drive a lap on the track, win a ride along and park in the shade. Skip Kelley reported that the next Bracket Drags are 9/23 and the MTT Autocross is 10/17 Kathy Clapp reported that on Sunday, 9/10 we will be meeting the Colorado River Corvette Club for a Meet & Greet. We will meet at the Railroad Pass Casino at 1 PM, our lunch reservations are at 2 PM at the Fox Smokehouse BBQ in Boulder City. Scott Mergele came forward and stated that the Silver State Classic Challenge is 9/14-17 in Ely, NV. We will be having 10 driver's and navigator's this year. Volunteers are still needed to help with tire inspection at the race. This year will be the 30th Anniversary of the Silver State Classic Challenge. Scott Mergele presented the Prescott Vette Sette Corvette Club Car Show on 9/22-24 in Prescott, AZ. Friday night is a meet and greet, Saturday is the car show. 250 will be welcome to participate this year. Register on line. He has reserved a block of rooms for LVCA at the Prescott Resort & Casino. Call them directly and tell them you are with LVCA. Denise Karpa told of the Desert Thunder Charity Event on Saturday, 9/30 at Buffalo Bill's Casino in Primm. This event is sponsored by California and Nevada Law Enforcement. This is a Community Service event for the Children's Charity. Roy Hoernke came forward and informed us of the Show & Shine Car Show on Saturday, 9/30 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. $40.00 to enter and entry to all events. Plus you will receive 4 truck race tickets for that night. 5 awards will be given for the car show. Car show starts at 10 AM, truck races are at 5 PM Ken Ackeret came forward to inform us of the Monster Mash Car Bash on Saturday, 10/21. This is a Halloween themed event, so decorate your car and dress up yourself and bring candy for the kids to hand out. This is also a Community Service event for the New Horizons Center for Learning for children with Aspergers and other Autism Spectrum Disorders. Denise Karpa stated that we are always looking for new events. If you have any ideas or suggestions please contact Denise Karpa. Miscellaneous Announcements: Scott Mergele told us to hold the date of Saturday, 11/25 for the Findlay Chevrolet Frank's Thanksgiving Car Show at Findlay's. Scott Mergele also reported that the Barrett Jackson Car Show on Saturday, 10/14 $20.00 entry fee will be paid for by Findlay Chevrolet & Gaudin Ford. Rex Wilhoite reported that the Banquet Committee met for the first time last week. Save the Date for the Annual Awards Banquet, Saturday 1/20/2018. He also stated to get your reservations in for the 2018 Cruise on 2/4-11/2018. So far 7 couples of LVCA have signed up. For more information give Rex Wilhoite a call. Clean Car Award: Roy Hoernke and Bill Thomas reported that this month was won by Scott White. Badge Drawing: $30.00 was won tonight by Ken Ackeret. 50/50: $152.00 was won this month by Gino Montoya.
