The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Clapp at 7:30 PM at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 54 members and 7 guests present. Kathy Clapp welcomed everyone here tonight. Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens shared that his love of Vettes first started in 1973, his first Corvette was a 1964, fire-engine red. He stated that we are an inspiration to him and when we call him that we have a problem with our Vette - makes his day. A motion to approve the March 2017 meeting minutes - Sharron Grodzinsky made the motion to approve as presented, Scott Mergele seconded, motion carried, motion approved. Birthday's were read by Lin Hoernke. President's Report: Kathy Clapp reported that everything is running smoothly. Kathy Clapp stated that she will be meeting with Todd Howell on Wednesday regarding web site. The updates should be done within the month. Kathy Clapp informed us that next month she will have the new 2017 Prez logo pins for everyone. Treasurer's Report: Connie Gentry stated that we are in a minus net income, but this will change by the end of the year and we are doing good. Old Business: Kathy Clapp handed out some of the plaques due to members from the 2016 Banquet - John & Cindy Fuller for the Best Overall Flyer for the Chariots of Fire event; Scarlett Stuart for her participation in the 2016 Welcome Committee. New Business: New Members and Guest were read by Julie Cantonwine. Guest this evening are Gene Spranget, Mike & Amanda Pepper, Phil Seitz, Robb & June Kerr and Jack Gordan. Julie Cantonwine also welcomed a new member tonight - William Bradley. Committee Reports: Sunshine: Terry Rees informed us that Jerry Lawrence had shoulder surgery, he is doing well and he is here tonight. Drag Racing: Ken Rees stated that 12 members showed up for the Brackett Race this past week-end. To all new members and visitors, Ken Rees informed us that everyone is welcome to come out and watch. Racer's Edge: Lanny Lowman handed out trophies for 2 events: Event #3 - 1st Place - Ken Rees, 2nd Place - Gary Moore Event #4 - 1st Place - (a tie) Marvin Maize & Scott Mergele, 2nd Place - Ken Rees, 3rd Place - Pat Russell. NCM Ambassador: Bob O'Brien showed everyone a picture with our new Banner hanging at the NCM with Scott and Donna Mergele's new 2017 Z06 Museum Delivery underneath it. GM is offering a major discount for NCM Members - go to a Chevrolet dealer and buy a new Chevrolet (including Corvettes) to get this discount. For more information call the NCM and ask for Stephanie. Storekeeper: Patty Annis showed us club hats and visors, both cost $15.00 Upcoming Events. Denise Karpa called Benita Klaizner up and she told us about the Tour of Wayne Newton Ranch. This event will be Saturday, April 15th. We will meet first at Town Square at 9:00 AM to caravan to the Ranch. The tour is at 10:00 AM, this is a 2 hour tour. To tour the mansion is $41.00, to tour the mansion and the animals will be $47.00. We will then caravan down the street to Coyote's Cafe & Cantina Mexican Restaurant for lunch where we will have our own room. Skip Kelley told us of the upcoming Cars & Coffee's on May 6th & June 3rd at Speed Vegas. We meet at 6:30 AM. Ron Petersen reported that the Findlay Car Show will be on Saturday May 13th, 9 AM - 3 PM at the Silverton Casino. He also stated that we need members to participate in this car show because this is being presented by our Sponsor. This is a Community Service Event. Ken Rees came forward to remind us that the Nevada Open Road Race will be May 18-21, this is the 30th Anniversary. This is a Community Service Event. Julie Cantonwine reported on Christmas in June will be at the June General Meeting on June 8th, see the flyer on the tables for a list of items that the animal shelter needs, and bring your items to the meeting. This is a Community Service Event. Scott Mergele came forward to tell us of the Prescott Vette Sette All Corvette Car Show on Sept. 22 - 23, 2017 Scott Mergele informed us that you need to register ASAP because they are only accepting 250 cars. This is a Community Service Event. Miscellaneous Announcements: Rex Wilhoite had a 1969 Vette Manual for anyone. Denise Karpa stated that the Rotary Club is having a car & bike show on Sunday, April 23rd, at Celebrating Cars of Las Vegas. Come show your cool car. Terry Rees informed us of the passing of Al Chivley. He was a retired Air Force Serviceman, and a member of the Thunderbirds. Al Chivley was also a great supporter and volunteer at the Nevada Open Road Race and the Silver State Classic Challenge, we worked with him for many years. Jack Gordon informed us that Atomic Motors in Henderson will be hosting their own Cars & Coffee, with the first on May 6th, 7 - 10 AM. Clean Car Award: Roy Hoernke & Gary Moore reported that this month was won by Scott Mergele. Badge Drawing: was won this month by Terry Rees, $35.00. 50/50: $123.00 was won this month by Kay Petersen. Raffles: were held. A motion to adjourn: Benita Klaizner made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by Bob O'Brien. The motion carried and motion approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:46 PM.
