General Membership Meeting - January 12, 2017- Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Clapp at 7:30 PM at the Sun City MacDonald Ranch. There were 51 members and 7 guests present. Kathy Clapp welcomed everyone here tonight and a Happy New Year.

Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens thanked everyone for our loyalty. He then informed us that they are selling tire protection plan for Corvettes - mount & balance for free when you purchase the plan for $15.00 a tire. Slim Stephens then recognized Paul Patane for working above and beyond and all the overtime he puts in - thank you Paul. Findlay is proud to be our sponsor.

A motion to approve the December 2016 meeting minutes - Bob O'Brien made the motion to approve as presented, Barbara Belak seconded, motion carried, motion approved.

Birthday's were read by Lin Hoernke.

President's Report: Kathy Clapp informed us that her new logo for this year is "Drive Your Corvette Dream Machine in 2017" with a Sunrise Orange Corvette. Kathy Clapp then read off the positions and names for the 2017 E-Board appointed position. A motion was made by Skip Kelley to approve the E-Board Committee positions as read, this was seconded by Sharron Grodzinsky, motion carried, motion approved. Also, she informed us that the new NCCC membership cards have no dates on them. These cards are good for 5 years upon renewing each year. So please hold on to them.

Treasurer's Report: Connie Gentry reported we are looking pretty good - right on budget.

Old Business: None this month

New Business: New Members and Guest were read by Julie Cantonwine. New member plaque was given to David Smith. Guest this evening are Concetta & Bob Gaynor, Rosette DeGennaro, William Bradley, Terry Culp and Michael Balasko. Kathy Clapp presented a request for a Website Sponsorship from Speed Vegas. They will have a hyperlink on our home page which we place and maintain; Speed Vegas will in turn provide 1 certificate Speed Vegas Driving Experience Package per calendar year (this year will be raffled at our Banquet) & provide 12 certificates for 1 Speed Vegas ride along at the LVCA's official monthly Cars & Coffee event, to be used that same day. Lanny Lowman made the motion to approve as presented, Jimmy Cavallo seconded, motion carried, motion approved.

Committee Reports: Sunshine: Lin Hoernke (substituting for Terry Rees) stated it was good to see Patty Maize here tonight; Tommy DeGennero will be having knee surgery tomorrow. Also that Nancy Ledwon is back with us tonight. Racer's Edge: Lanny Lowman stated that 2017 was going to be a little different. There are a few rule changes and they are posted on the website. One change is that there will not be a Mohave Mile Race this year. There will be 12 events for this year beginning on February 12th with the first event of Matching Time Trials (MTT) Autocross. Cost for Racer's Edge is just $40.00 per year. Open Road Races: Barbara Belak presented the dates for the Open Road Races for 2017: Nevada Open Road is May 18-21st and Silver State Race is September 14-17th. They will be needing 24 volunteers to help for both race. Staging and Start line and of course tire inspections. More information to come later. Store Keepers: Patty & Jim Annis have a full catalog of items to be purchased from. New item Sweatshirts - zipper up front with logo on front & back are $50.00, front logo only for $30.00

Upcoming Events. Ken Ackeret, (substituting for Denise Karpa), brought up Holley Holran to present the 2016 LVCA Banquet, January 21st at the Sunset Gardens, great food, lots of dancing and awards. $1.00 per drink. Connie Gentry presented Laps for Charity on Sunday January 29th. Registration is on line at the LVMS website, $35.00 for 3 laps, $10.00 for picture and additional $25.00 for 3 more laps. Meet at 9 AM at the old Shelby building, line up at 9:15 AM, race at 9:30 AM. After race meet at Moe's Race Day Cafe for a bite to eat with each other. This is a Community Service event for LVMS Children's Charity. Skip Kelley presented Cars & Coffee on February 4th, Speed Vegas. We participate in the National Anthem lap with our Red - White & Blue Corvettes. We are under covered parking. Drive Along was won by Gary Moore last month. Ken Ackeret reported that the Super Bowl will be on February 5th, 2:30 PM at the home of Bob & Sally McVane. Bring a pot luck dish, your favorite drinks and folding chairs. This will be a Community Service event for Street Teens. Cost is $5.00 for members and $7.00 for non-members. There will be raffles and squares games. Kathy Clapp presented the President's Run will be February 17-20th in Solvang, CA at the Hotel Corque. Group Rates are $199.00 Friday night, $239.00 Saturday night and $169.00 Sunday night, you will make your own Hotel reservations. Friday night will be a welcoming reception, Saturday morning will be a 2 hour tour of the Mendenhall Museum, dinner Saturday night will be at AJ Spurs Saloon and Dining Hall, Sunday will be open to your choice. There will be a $50.00 per person cost. Ken Ackeret reported that the St. Patrick's Day Parade is coming in March, more information for come later.

Miscellaneous Announcements:
Dawn Gregorio held up 2 cookie sheets that were left at her home from the Cookie Exchange, please come claim them.

Clean Car Award: Roy Hoernke reported that there was no winner this month because of weather. Badge Drawing: was won this month by Ingrid O'Brien. 50/50: $130.00 was won this month by David Smith. Raffles: were held.

A motion to adjourn: Tommy DeGennaro made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by Wanda McCurry. The motion carried and motion approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:48 PM.
