The meeting was called to order by President Kathy Clapp at 7:30PM at the McDonald Ranch Clubhouse Banquet Room. She thanked everyone for coming tonight. There were 58 members and 7 guests present. Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens, said that he is very pleased that Findlay Chevrolet is our sponsor and looks forward to providing LVCA members service that they deserve. Motion to approve the January 2016 minutes: Scott Mergele made the motion to approve the minutes as written; Benita Klaizner seconded. Motion passed. Birthdays: For the month of February were read by Lin Hoernke. President Report: Kathy announced that anyone bringing items for the Street Teens should give them to Deb Leatham who is collecting them for Sally McVane. Kathy introduced Denise Karpa as the new Finance Chairperson. The 2015 Audit Committee consists of Dawn G, Lennard G & Denise K. The Welcome Committee includes Dawn G, Judy H, Ingrid O, Scarlett S & Randy and Jan Watson. The By-Laws Committee is Carl H, Chair, Larry D & Sharron G. Kathy thanked all the committee volunteers for doing so well. She also reminded Awards Banquet attendees to pick up their Banquet photos from the stage before leaving this evening. Old Business: Ron P & Scott M presented awards to members who were not present at the Awards Banquet. Skip K received a plaque from Scott for his work on the E-board as Publicity Chair. Ron also presented Skip with an Award for Most Improved Vette, Custom. His scrapbook will be at the front for viewing. Scott gave Cindy F (& John) a plaque for her work as Storekeeper. Scott called Julie C up to receive a Special Presidential Award for Most Enthusiastic New Member. Ron thanked all the Awards Banquet Committee members for their hard work. New Business: Kathy explained how she, Holley H & Connie G worked on the proposed 2016 budget. The new line item under Events Expense called Member Appreciation was pointed out. Due to projected extra income the E-Board decided to give back to the membership. Kathy asked for any questions. Sherrie W asked about the increases in Website expenses & the NCCC expenses. Kathy explained increase for website is transition costs & possible new program expenses. The reason for the increase in the NCCC expense is to cover the expenses for the NCCC Governor trips to Southern CA. Carl H asked about the increase in Driving Events. Kathy explained that driving events bring money in and in turn spend money and expenses for awards (money out). A motion to approve the 2016 Budget was made by Roy H & seconded by Bob O. The motion was approved. Introduction of New & Prospective Members: Julie Cantonwine reported we have 164 members. Guests this evening were Bill Reeves, William Cook (a 20 year Mossyback!), Larry Henrichsen & Diego Klaizner. Joining were Mike Harman & Claudette and Mike Frizzell. Committee Reports: Sunshine: Substituting for Terry Rees was Lin Hoernke. Lin read a Thank You note from Denise K. She also reported that Jan W is home after having back surgery. Jan is doing well. Cards & calls will be appreciated. As everyone can see, Benita is recovering from her foot surgery. Her new nickname is Scooter! The following members celebrated wedding anniversaries: Anderson's #51, Klaizner's #33 & #52 Ledwon's! Drag Racing: Ken R explained how the Drag Racing series is done. The LVMS track fee is $40 per race day. If you are a member of Racers Edge, you will receive RE points for Drag Racing participation. Sponsors-702 Graphics, Pro-Tect & Ace Brothers Collision Center-provide trophies for winners. Go to our website to see "what we do" & to check out the flyer. The cars shown on the flyer belong to our members Ingrid O & Rich M. Racer's Edge Series: Lanny L gave an overview of Racers Edge. It costs $40 to participate. There will be 18 events this year, so far. The events include 3 Drags, 6 Autocrosses (this is a working event), 2 Open Road Races & a 2 day Mojave Magnum (3 events each day). The Challenger & Grand Champion will be determined by the highest points for 11 of the 18 events. See Lanny for more information. Mossybacks/Archives: Debra L. explained to the "un-informed" what a Mossyback is. She reminded all the Mossybacks of a planning meeting at her house on Tuesday 2/16 at 6:30pm. The meeting is to discuss the possibility of the Mossybacks sponsoring 2 events this year. NCM Ambassador: Bob O reminded everyone that the club has free admission tickets each year for the museum. See Bob if you are interested. The Museum's computer system is down right now. It will be back in operation in 3-4 weeks. If you need to contact NCM, call 1-800-538-3883. Bob also mentioned the possibility for a club banner to hang at the Museum. Cost would be $500. Something to think about. Upcoming Events: Events Chair Roy Hoernke introduced the coming events. Skip K spoke about Garage Gang is this Saturday 2/13 at 9am at John F. He also reminded everyone about Cars & Coffee on Saturday 3/5 at 7am at 9500 S Eastern. This event is always the Saturday before our General Membership Meeting and is a great place to meet other car enthusiasts with a great car show. Benita K spoke about the St Patrick's Day Parade on 3/12 8:15 AM in Henderson. The parade is a community service event in memory of Lindsey Ledwon, Granddaughter of Nancy & Dennis Ledwon, for the St Baldrick's Foundation. Donation is $5 per person. There will be coffee & goodies while we stage. Lunch is being planned for someplace near the parade route. Benita will need Convertible owners to drive dignitaries at the beginning of the parade. Please contact Benita. Save the Date: Benita is planning a California Coastal Cruise for 10/29 thru 11/5/2016. It will be on the Ruby Princess sailing from LA to San Francisco to Santa Barbara to San Diego to Ensenada, Mexico back to LA. Contact Benita for more details. Roy asked for anyone interested in putting on a Classy Vettes Dinner to please see him. Miscellaneous Announcements: Kathy asked everyone to find a better way to save seats rather then tilting chairs against the tables. This is a safety concern and we do not want this to be a tripping issue. Cindy F mentioned the upcoming Chariots of Fire Event on 4/16/2016. This will be a Rolling Rally involving wheels & 2 people. It is a community service event for Veterans Village. Cost will be $20 per couple. Nonmembers will be $15 per person. Find more information in the Newsvetter or on vegasvettes1.com. Scott shared correspondence from Bob & Trish James of Corvettes Down Under. LVCA members hosted a Meet & Greet lunch at Gordon Biersch Brewery & Restaurant. Bob & Trish posted an article in their club magazine about their visit. The article will be posted on our website under Hot Items. Denise K is thinking about doing Tuacahn Event again, if she has some volunteers. Date would be 9/10. See Denise if you are interested. Pat would like to update the Members' Cars section of the website. Send him pictures or ask him how to do it. Clean Car Award was won by Paul Patane with his C6 Black Coupe. Badge Drawing: Dennis Ledwon was present with his badge on and received $25. 50/50: Rex Wilhoite had the winning ticket for $95. Raffle was conducted with the items from our
