LVCA General Membership Meeting Minutes December 8,
2015
The meeting was called to order by President Scott Mergele
at 7:32 PM at McDonald Ranch Banquet Room. He thanked everyone for coming
here tonight. There were 75 members and 7 guests present.
Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens congratulated us for 43 years of
our club. He is offering members this deal from now on - fleet prices
on service.
Motion to approve the November 2015 minutes: Lin Hoernke made
the motion to approve as presented, Benita Klaizner seconded, motion
passed, motion approved.
Birthdays: for this month were read by Scott Mergele.
President Report: Scott Mergele stated that it was an honor to be
your President - 98% great, 2% mixed. He then thanked his E-Board for
their support and then thanked his wife for her understanding and support.
Scott Mergele then asked the membership for 3 volunteers to be the Election
Committee to hand out ballots, collected and tally said ballots. The
following members volunteered: Sherrie Wood, Sally McVane and Scarlett
Stuart. Candidates who wanted to say a few words were asked to come
forward. Julie Cantonwine read off the names of members who were eligible
to vote (those who have paid their renewal dues by December 1st). Ballots
were then handed out by raised hands of members when their name was
read. The membership was then given 15 minutes to vote and ballots were
collected by the Election Committee.
Old Business: Scott Mergele asked for any questions or comments
on our meeting place. Pat Russell made a motion from the floor to accept
McDonald Ranch Banquet Room as our official meeting place for 2016.
This was seconded by Skip Kelley, motion carried and passed.
New Business: None
Introduction of New & Prospective Members: Julie Cantonwine
announced we have 151 members. The guest tonight are Larry & Mary
Henrichsen, Dave Donna Rinehart, Blake Bogdanouch, Diana Byrd and Diego
Klaizner. Julie Cantonwine then read the years of service members names.
Committee Reports:
Sunshine: Terry Rees stated to everyone if you are traveling over the
holidays to travel safely, Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to everyone.
Racer's Edge Series: Lanny Lowman stated they had 20 events this
year. You needed 11 out of the 20 for the grand champion. For the Auto
Cross last event 1st place went to Scott Mergele for the morning event
and 1st place in the afternoon event went to Ken Rees. He then encouraged
everyone to come out for Racer's Edge. It's is a great group of people
and a lot of fun.
Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller stated it is getting cold and she has
jackets, long sleeve t-shirts, club shirts and hats available.
Upcoming Events: Roy Hoernke brought up Ken Rees to present Dyno
Shoot-Out / Garage Gang on Saturday, 12/12, 9 AM - 1 PM $60.00 per car,
and a BBQ lunch will be provided. Debra Leatham presented the Cookie
Exchange on Sunday, 12/13 at 3 PM at their home. $5.00 per person. Bring
3 dozen cookies to exchange and 1 dozen to share. Soup, Chili , water
and sodas will be provided. All other is BYOB. Skip Kelley came up to
state for next year the first Cars & Coffee will be 1/9 at 7 AM.
The first Garage Gang for 2016 will be 1/16 at Ralph Terry's home. Ron
Petersen then presented that the Awards Banquet needs your information
for scrapbooks on most improved car. He also stated that the invitations
have been mailed out.
Connie Gentry presented Laps for Charity on Sunday, 1/31 at the Las
Vegas Motor Speedway. $35.00 for 3 laps, $25.00 for extra laps and $10.00
for picture. Meet at 9 AM at the old Shelby location, run time is 9:30
AM Register online, or sign up with her. This is a Community Service
event for Speedway Children's Charity. Lunch has been arranged again
this year at Mo's Race Day Cafe. Brenda Cavallo presented Adopt A Kettle
on Saturday, 12/19 from 8 AM - 5 PM with hourly intervals. This is a
Community Service event.
Miscellaneous Announcements: Benita Klaizner stated that they had
taken the St. Jude's Christmas gifts out to them and they were very
grateful for what we had done for the children. Carl Hastings stated
that he collected 30 - 40 suitcases tonight for Child Haven. He then
thanked everyone who participated. David Gagliardi stated that he is
moving to Colorado in January and he is selling his Vet. It is a 1998
Indy Pace Vet, 6 speed plus other additions, he is asking $24,000 If
you are interested to please give him a call.
Clean Car Award: Ken Rees, John Fuller and Darrell Wood awarded
the clean car award for November and December to: November - Gary Moore
and December - Ken Kroeger
Badge Drawing: was not won this month.
50/50: was won by Connie Gentry.
2016 Election Results: Scott Mergele read the results for the 2016
Election: President - Kathy Clapp; Vice-President - Holley Holran; Secretary
- Nita Russell; Treasure - Connie Gentry and Director - Benita Klaizner.
Motion to Adjourn: was made by Roy Hoernke, seconded by Jeff Blue.
The motion carried and was passed. The meeting was adjourned by the
new 2016 President Kathy Clapp at 9:10 PM.
