LVCA General Membership Meeting Minutes
November 11, 2015
The meeting was called to order by President
Scott Mergele at 7:30 PM at McDonald Ranch Banquet Room. He also thanked
the Ledwon's (Dennis & Nancy) & Ron Petersen for finding our meeting
room. There were 60 members present. Scott Mergele welcomed everyone
here tonight.
Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens stated that we are
the greatest and that it is an honor and privilege to be our sponsor.
November's special in service is 25% discount, and a reminder that there
are always discounts for buying a new car. Scott Mergele reported that
he & Ron Petersen met with Findlay and they will be our sponsor again
next year.
Motion to approve the October 2015 minutes: Nita
Russell made the motion to approve as presented, Jim Gregorio seconded,
motion passed, motion approved.
Birthdays: for this month
were read by Scott Mergele.
President Report: Scott
Mergele introduced Nick, manager of the restaurant & banquet room and
thanked him for allowing us here tonight. Scott Mergele reported that
the Mossyback event was last week-end in Laughlin. Everyone had a great
time. There was a Poker Tournament on Friday night, the winner was
Darrell Wood. Saturday was a Rally and crazy bowling. While there the
bowling ball was taken out of Scott Mergele's car and showed up in many
pictures along with the gavel at the bowling alley. $372.00 was raised
for the club. Serenades of Life was a great show. Alter'd Ego, the band
that Skip Kelley is in, won the Humanitarian Award that evening. Vettes
for Vets at the Hard Rock Cafe had a total of 27 cars for the event.
Many great raffle prices were won. Scott Mergele and Lin Hoernke met
with Marie from the Landings Rest. and informed her that we would not be
returning, she said that there are no hard feelings and we are always
welcome back.
Old Business: Scott Mergele
reported that he would be asking for an approval of this new meeting
place at December's General Meeting.
New Business: Julie
Cantonwine stated that she is in need of all members to renew their
vehicle information and also all personal information with her: phone
numbers, email addresses, home address, etc. You can either email her or
give her your information at the next meeting. All documentation that
you give her will be shredded and destroyed. Linda Simpson will bring
index cards to December's meeting so anyone can write this information
on. Election Nominations for 2016: Terry Rees made a motion to open the
2016 Election Nominations, Mark Wynne seconded motion. Motion carried
and approved, nominations are open.

made to the floor:
President - Kathy Clapp
A motion was made was made by Roy Hoernke and
seconded by Cindy Fuller to accept the nomination of Kathy Clapp for
President. Motion Passed, motion approved.
President - Skip Kelley
A motion was made was made by Denise Karpa and
seconded by Gary Moore to accept the nomination of Skip Kelley for
President. Motion Passed, motion approved.
Vice President - Holley Holran
A motion was made was made by Darrell Wood and
seconded by Donna Mergele to accept the nomination of Holley Holran for
Vice President. Motion Passed, motion approved.
Secretary - Nita Russell
A motion was made was made by Nancy Ledwon and
seconded by Julie Cantonwine to accept the nomination of Nita Russell
for Secretary. Motion Passed, motion approved.
Treasurer - Connie Gentry
A motion was made was made by Roy Hoernke and
seconded by Jeff Blue to accept the nomination of Connie Gentry for
Treasurer. Motion Passed, motion approved.
Treasurer - Pat Russell
A motion was made was made by Mark Wynne and
seconded by Jim Gregorio to accept the nomination of Pat Russell for
Treasurer. Motion Passed, motion approved.
Director - Cindy Fuller
A motion was made was made by Donna Mergele
and seconded by Linda Simpson to accept the nomination of Cindy Fuller
for Director. Motion Passed, motion approved.
Director - Carl Hastings
A motion was made was made by Gary Moore and
seconded by Linda Simpson to accept the nomination of Carl Hastings for
Director. Motion Passed, motion approved.
Director - Benita Klaizner
A motion was made was made by Larry Duis and
seconded by Linda Simpson to accept the nomination of Benita Klaizner
for Director. Motion Passed, motion approved.
A motion was made by Roy Hoernke to close the
nominations for 2016 officers, this was seconded by Jeff Blue. Motion
passed, motion approved.
Introduction of New & Prospective
Members: Julie Cantonwine announced that we did not have any
guests tonight.
Committee Reports:
Sunshine: Terry Rees reported
that she has the arrangements that have been made for Jim Gregorius
funeral, if you are interested see Terry after the meeting. Terry Rees
read a Thank You note from Nita Russell to all for the plant she
received from the club after her surgery. Terry Rees then asked all
Veteran's to stand so that we can thank them for their service. She also
wished everyone warm wishes for Thanksgiving.
Racer's Edge Series: Lanny
Lowman handed out trophies from the Auto Cross last month: Lanny Lowman
was 1st Place and Scott Mergele was 2nd Place. He then had trophies from
Auto Cross #17 & #18 which was presented to Marvin Maize.
Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller stated it is getting
cold and she has soft shell jackets for $65.00. She has long sleeve
t-shirts for $15.00 and denim shirts are available for $35.00. There are
even thermal mugs for $10.00
Upcoming Events: Roy Hoernke
brought up Skip Kelley to report that the next Garage Gang will be
Saturday, 11/14 at his house. The next Cars & Coffee will be Saturday,
12/5 at 8:00 AM. Lanny Lowman reported the last 2 Racers Edge Auto Cross
will be Saturday, 11/15 for the season. Ken Rees informed us that this
years "Dyno Shoot Out" will be combined with that months Garage Gang on
Saturday, 12/12, there will also be a bar-be-que. It is $60.00 per car,
it will run for 4 hours doing 5 cars an hour. Scott Mergele reported
that the Suitcase Drive will be held at next months general meeting,
Tuesday 12/8, so bring your suitcases, backpacks, ect. Ron Petersen
reported the Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, 1/23/16 at the
Bear's Best in Summerlin.
Miscellaneous Announcements:
Ken Rees stated that Tom Hill has C5 titanium 18" wheels for sale. Debra
& Jim Leatham announced they will be hosting the Cookie Exchange this
year at their house on Sunday, 12/13 more information to come at next
months meeting. Skip Kelley reported that the band he is in, Alter'd
Ego, will be playing at the Eastside Cannery on Saturday, 11/21 at 8:00
PM. Benita Klaizner thanked the Mossyback's for the great week-end
event.
Clean Car Award: no award tonight.
Badge Drawing: was not
won this month.
50/50: was won by Russ Riner.
Motion to Adjourn: was
made by Roy Hoernke, seconded by Linda Simpson. The motion carried and
was passed. The meeting adjourned at 8:44 PM.
