General Membership Meeting - September 10, 2015 - Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Scott Mergele at 7:30 PM at the Landings Restaurant. There were 44 members and 5 guests present. Scott Mergele welcomed everyone here tonight.

Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens & Paul Patane thanked the club for their business and support. This months special is 20% off parts and service. Thanks again for our loyalty and referrals.

Motion to approve the August 2015 minutes: Terry Rees made the motion to approve as presented, Bob O'Brien seconded, motion passed, motion approved.

Birthdays: for this month were read by Scott Mergele.

President Report: Scott Mergele read a Letter of Resignation from Charley Jones and Scarlett Stuart, resigning from the E-Board because of professional and personal obligations. Scott Mergele then thanked them for their work on the Board. He then told of the visitors that we have had from Australia and Israel that we met with. Also coming to town will be a representative from the Corvette Museum on 9/27.

Old Business: Carl Hastings, By-Law Committee Chairperson came up to go thru this change with us: 1) Article: 2, Section: 1. (b) and 2. (c), Members, change proposed by Pat & Nita Russell. Carl Hastings read complete change and Justification. Carl Corbett made a motion to adopt as written, Linda Simpson seconded motion. Carl Hastings open the floor for discussion. After said discussion the vote was opened: Adopt: 19, Not Adopt: not needed to be taken, Did not pass.

New Business: Scott Mergele stated that we have an open position on the E-Board - Sunshine. He asked for a volunteer to finish out the year in this position - Terry Rees volunteered. Scott Mergele stated that Pat Russell has stepped up to be temporary webmaster. He then stated that Jerry Cline has offered to be proxy with a paid webmaster. This is now a possibility. Scott Mergele then welcomed Bill Thomas back after some time away.

Introduction of New & Prospective Members: Julie Cantonwine announced that we have 5 visitors this evening. Visitors here tonight are: Alan Mandato, Robert Lisenbey, Tamara Wynne, Richard Brian and Nat Hodgson. She then welcomed new member Bridget Edwards.

Committee Reports:

Awards:
Ron Petersen told us to "Save The Date" of 1/23/16 for the Awards Banquet to be held at the Bear's Best Country Club in Summerlin.

Sunshine: Lin Hoernke welcomed back some members from medical leave: Jerry Lawrence, Bill Visser, Bonnie Corbett, Holley Holran and Bill Thomas. She then informed us that Glenda LeMar was down with a meniscus knee problem.

Drag Race Series:
Ken Rees informed us that the last Drag Racing event for the year is on 9/12

Storekeeper:
Cindy Fuller said that winter is coming and she has long sleeve t-shirts and light weight levy jackets.

Upcoming Events: Roy Hoernke brought up Skip Kelley to remind us of the Cars & Coffee & Garage Gangs. Skip Kelley stated that the Garage Gang dates will be Saturday, 9/12 John Fuller's house, 10/24 Jim Weeks house and 11/14 - open - at10 AM. Skip Kelley also informed us that Cars & Coffee dates are 11/7 and 12/5. NW Gearhead Gathering will be 10/4 Skip Kelley then stated on Saturday, 9/26 will be the Super Supper Run at Sonic on Lake Mead & Boulder Highway, have some dinner and then cruz on over to Henderson for the Super Run event. He then told us of the Beatty Run on Saturday, 10/31. This will include a parade and car show, with other great events going on all day. Barbara Belak told us that Silver State Classic Race is 9/17-20 in Ely and all volunteers and workers are set. Brenda Cavallo told us that the Classy Vettes Dinner on Friday, 9/25 at Nacho Daddy in Summerlin at 6 PM. Bonnie Corbett will be hosting a Toy Drive on 10/16 for St. Jude's Ranch, for 44 children to be held at Lake Las Vegas, 4 - 6 PM, Steak & Seafood Rest. Appetizers and salads are 1/2 price, on patio. This is also a Community Service event. Ken Ackeret informed us the Mosseyback 2015 Event is "Roundup on the River" in Laughlin at the Pioneer Hotel on 11/7 & 8. Make your reservations now, will be open until 2 weeks before event, rooms are $39.00. You can also come on Friday (for the same rate) and there will be a poker tournament for an extra cost. Pat Russell told us of the "Turkey Shoot" on 11/14 at the Clark County Gun Range (north Decatur). $5.00 per shot, and a car show for $25.00 This is a Community Service event. Roy Hoernke stated that it is Homecoming Season for the schools. He has 2 coming up on 10/2 and 10/9, if you have a convertible and are interested see him to sign up. These are Community Service events.

Miscellaneous Announcements: Skip Kelley informed us that his band will be performing again this year at the Smith's Center, "Doctor's in Concert" on Tuesday,11/10. Main entertainer this year is Kenny Loggins. He will have 30 tickets, $75.00 per person, on the floor. This will be a Community Service event. Linda Simpson has C5 - Z06 tires and C7 wheels for sale. Jerry Lawrence thanked Roy Hoernke, Ron Petersen, Brenda Cavallo, Jimmy Cavallo and the club for the cards and flowers during his surgery and hospital stay. He is home now so stop of by anytime. Julie Cantonwine went to the opening of the Wayne Newton home, if anyone is interested in doing the tour let her know and she will set up a group tour. Marie of The Landings Rest. came up and thanked everyone for their patience tonight with the one server. And she hopes that we will continue with them.

Clean Car Award: Larry Leard & Ken Rees did the judging this month for the months of August & September. The winner for
August was Pat Russell and the winner for September was Joel Thies

Badge Drawing: was won this month by Jimmy Cavallo.

50/50: was won by Barbara Belak.

Motion to Adjourn:
was made by Roy Hoernke, seconded by Ingrid O'Brien. The motion carried and was passed. The meeting adjourned at 9:09 PM.
