| The meeting was
called to order by Vice-President Ron Petersen at 7:33 PM at the Landings
Restaurant. There were 35 members and 3 guests present. Ron Petersen welcomed
everyone here tonight and coming out in this rain. Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens thanked the club for their business and support. He gave a club winner special to Holley Holran - they will detail her car. Slim Stephens stated that he would try harder for the next Garage Gang. This months special is 1/2 off any oil change. Thanks again for our loyalty and recommendations. Motion to approve the July 2015 minutes: Denise Karpa made the motion to approve as presented, Holley Holran seconded, motion passed, motion approved. Birthdays: for this month were read by Ron Petersen. Vice-President Report: Ron Petersen informed us that so far we have had 53 events but we are still in need of someone chairing a Halloween Party and our Cookie Exchange. Please get a hold of Roy Hoernke or any Officer to schedule and chair any event. Old Business: It is that time of year for our elections of officers. If you are interested in running please see any one of our Nomination Committee Members - Irene Duis, Linda Simpson or Donna Mergele. New Business: We were to vote this evening on a By-Law Change regarding members. We did not have enough members present and available tonight for this to pass. We will vote on this next month. Introduction of New & Prospective Members: Julie Cantonwine announced that we have 3 visitors this evening. Visitors here tonight are: Robert Lisenbey, Bruce Bliss and Dick Brion. Committee Reports: Sunshine: Terry Rees informed us that Larry Lawrence had had hip replacement surgery. He was sent to Rehab but had major complications and was back in the hospital. He is due to come home tomorrow. Terry Rees then read a Thank You card from Holley Holran thanking us for our flowers, notes and calls. Racer's Edge & Drag Race Series: Lanny Lowman informed us on the standing so far this season from the spreadsheet: In the Challengers Class - leading is Charley Jones and 2nd is Scott Mergele. In the Champion Class - leading is Jerry Cline, 2nd is Lanny Lowman and 3rd is Ken Rees. Ken Rees informed us that the last Drag Racing event for the year is on 9/12 Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller said that she has completed orders, so if you have ordered anything please see her. She also showed us the Club hats. Upcoming Events: Roy Hoernke brought up Skip Kelley to remind us of the Cars & Coffee & Garage Gangs. Garage Gang on Saturday, 8/15, 10 AM at Ted Arhontas - detailing on C6 & C4's. Cars & Coffee on Saturday, 9/5, 7 AM Garage Gang on Saturday, 9/12 at John Fuller's house. Skip Kelley also said that on Saturday, 9/26 will be a Super Sonic Supper Run. Meet at Sonic on Lake Mead & Boulder Highway, have some dinner and then cruz on over to Henderson for the Super Run event. Brenda Cavallo came up and reminded us of the Mt. Charleston Luncheon Run on Saturday, 8/29 at 9:30 AM. Then she told us of the Classy Vettes Dinner on Friday, 9/25 at Nacho Daddy in Summerlin at 6 PM. Roy Hoernke asked if there was an interest in a Barrett Jackson Day on Saturday, 9/26. Cruz down the strip, have lunch and dinner in a private suite, paid for by Barrett Jackson. Ron Petersen is chairing this event, if you are interested see Ron Petersen. Miscellaneous Announcements: Skip Kelley informed us that his band will be performing again this year at the Smith's Center on Tuesday,11/10. Main entertainer this year is Kenny Loggins. Clean Car Award: With the bad weather tonight there is no Clean Car Award. We will be having the Award at the Classy Vettes Dinner on the 9/25 Badge Drawing: was won this month by Jim Gregorio. 50/50: was won by Jim Gregorio.
