General Membership Meeting - July 9, 2015 - Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Scott Mergele at 7:30 PM at the Landings Restaurant. There were 44 members and 5 guests present. Scott Mergele welcomed everyone here tonight.

Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens informed us that at the Garage Gang at Findlay's on Saturday, 7/25 will be a seminar on the C7 Z06. He thanked the club for their business and support.

Motion to approve the June 2015 minutes: Jerry Lawrence made the motion to approve as presented, Cindy Fuller seconded, motion passed, motion approved.

Birthdays: for this month were read by Scott Mergele.

Old Business: Scott Mergele stated that we have numerous By-Law changes tonight. Scott Mergele informed us that in order to adopt these By-Laws we need 2/3 majority of the members present tonight. What this means for tonight is that we have 44 members present, 2/3 majority would be a vote of 29 members to adopt. Carl Hastings, By-Law Committee Chairperson came up to go thru each change with us: 1) Article: 6, Section: 4, General Election Ballots, change proposed by Connie Gentry. Carl Hastings read complete change and Justification. Roy Hoernke made a motion to adopt as written, Nita Russell seconded motion. Carl Hastings open the floor for discussion. After said discussion the vote was opened: Adopt: 26, Not Adopt: not needed to be taken, Did not pass.
2) Article: 6, Section: 1, Eligible Candidates for Election, change proposed by Skip Kelley. Carl Hastings read complete change and Justification. Pat Russell made a motion to adopt as written, Lanny Lowman seconded motion. Carl Hastings open the floor for discussion. After said discussion the vote was opened: Adopt: 10, Not Adopt: not needed to be taken, Did not pass.
3) Article 8, Section 2(a), 3rd Director, change proposed by Ken Rees. Carl Hastings read complete change and Justification. Connie Gentry made a motion to adopt as written, Bob O'Brien seconded motion. Carl Hastings open the floor for discussion. After said discussion the vote was opened: Adopt: 24, Not Adopt: not needed to be taken, Did not pass.
4) Article: 8, Section: 2(a), 3rd Director, change proposed by Ken Rees. Carl Hastings read complete change and Justification. Ken Rees proposed 2 different write up changes for the same By-Law. Skip Kelley made a motion to adopt as written, Jerry Lawrence seconded motion. Carl Hastings open the floor for discussion. After said discussion the vote was opened: Adopt: 14, Not Adopt: not needed to be taken, Did not pass.
5) Article: 5, Section: 5, Vacancy Elections, change proposed by Ken Rees. Carl Hastings read complete change and Justification. Skip Kelley made a motion to adopt as written, Linda Simpson seconded motion. Carl Hastings open the floor for discussion. After said discussion the vote was opened: Adopt: 33, Not Adopt: not needed to be taken, Passed and adopted as written.
Scott Mergele asked the membership for volunteers to be on the Nominating Committee. The following 3 members volunteered: Irene Duis, Linda Simpson and Donna Mergele.

New Business: Barbara Belak spoke that Silver State Classic Challenge is coming up on September 17-20. They are in need of volunteers to work this great week-end. Please see her or Ray Belak after the meeting to sign up.

Introduction of New & Prospective Members: Julie Cantonwine announced that we have 3 new members this month, they are not present here tonight, we will enroll them at the next meeting. Visitors here tonight are: Robert Ryan, Linda Stevenson and joining tonight are John Orzes, Rick Stiles and Linda Riggert.

Committee Reports:

Racer's Edge & Drag Race Series: Lanny Lowman had a couple of plaques to hand out for past race winners: Darrell Wood, 2nd Place for the 3/22 Auto Cross; Lanny Lowman, 1st Place for the 6/27 Drag Race.

Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller announced it is Christmas in July. She has coolers for $5.00, new style fitted shirts (higher quality fabric) $60.00, (milder version) $25.00 and only $5.00 to get you embroidered on any shirt.

Upcoming Events: Roy Hoernke brought up Skip Kelley to remind us of the Bye Bye Birdie Theater on 7/11 - Skip Kelley also stated that they will doing a parade around before the play starts. Skip Kelley then told of the Garage Gang Saturday, 7/25 at Findlay's. He them reminded us of the Cars & Coffee on Saturday, 8/8 at 7 AM. Ron Petersen then came up to tell us about the Classy Vettes Dinner on Friday, 7/17 at Cantina Laredo in Tivoli Village, 6 PM Connie Gentry told us of the Mount Charleston Get-A-Way Luncheon on Saturday 8/29. Meet at Santa Fe Casino at 9:30 AM. $17.00 each for lunch - cash please. This is a Community Service event for the Mount Charleston Voluntary Fire Department, if you would like to participate there will be a $5.00 donation.

Miscellaneous Announcements: Cindy Fuller has a Bowflex machine, fully equipped, for sale for $200.00 Sherrie Wood informed us that Henry's Place will be hosting at the 51's baseball game on Wednesday, 7/22 Tickets are $11.00, $2.00 going toward Henry's Place, special seating, 51's hats. You can order your tickets on line. Tim Fleenor informed us there will be a special documentary on TV on "Big Red" starting on 7/27, 6 PM, NBC-SN for 8 weeks.

Clean Car Award: Larry Leard, with Bob O'Brien assisting in the selection, gave the Clean Car award to Barbara Belak, with a $40.00 Findlay Service Certificate.

Badge Drawing: was not won this month.

50/50: was won by Tim Fleenor.

Motion to Adjourn: was made by Donna Mergele, seconded by Jim Gregorio. The motion carried and was passed. The meeting adjourned at 9:14 PM.
