| The meeting was
called to order by President Scott Mergele at 7:30 PM at the Landings
Restaurant. There were 42 members and 7 guests present. Scott Mergele
welcomed everyone here tonight. Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens thanked the club for their business and support. He gave away a car detail. Motion to approve the May 2015 minutes: Kathy Clapp made the motion to approve as presented, Jim Gregorio seconded, motion passed, motion approved. Birthdays: for this month were read by Julie Cantonwine. President's Report: Scott Mergele advised us that the $15.00 per person we are paying has helped the restaurant, and that he was sorry some folks aren't attending. Ellie Johnson is retiring as Membership Chairperson after 10+ years of great service. Ellie Johnson thanked everyone for their support over the years. Julie Cantonwine has expressed an interest in taking over the vacant position. Scott Mergele temporarily appointed her to the position. Scott Mergele asked for a approval by the membership. Roy Hoernke made the motion to approve Julie Cantonwine as the Membership Chairperson, Rex Wilhoite seconded, the motion was passed and approved. Julie Cantonwine was introduced as the new Membership Chairperson. New Business: Ellie Johnson announced that she will be sending out the annual dues statements in September this year. Scott Mergele advised that there are five proposed By Law changes that have been discussed by the E-Board and will soon be on the LVCA web site for review by the membership. They will then be voted on by the membership at the July General Membership Meeting. Introduction of New & Prospective Members: Ellie Johnson introduced this evening's visitors: Harry & Lois Tolmich, George Gross, Bernie Terry and Mike Muti. Joining tonight are Rick & Lupe Bolin and Bridget Edwards. Committee Reports: Racer's Edge & Drag Race Series: Lanny Lowman and Ken Rees presented several awards & trophies for events during the first five month of this year. Information was shared that LVCA had 25 people participate in staffing the event at Silver State, with 5 club members racing. 200 MPH Club Plaques were awarded to Gary Moore and Lanny Lowman for their participation in the Mojave Magnum Mile event. Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller announced it is never too early for Christmas shopping. The new style fitted shirts are in. Sunshine: Scarlett Stuart announced that Pat & Nita Russell are picking up a new 2015 Z51 Coupe and that Charley Jones' car has been repaired at no cost to him. Also mentioned was the next Classy Vettes Dinner on 6/19/15. Upcoming Events: Roy Hoernke mentioned the next Classy Vettes Dinner is planned as a buffet, but if attendance is low, we will order off the menu. Findlay's annual Fathers Day Car Show on 6/20/15 is a $5.00/pp Community Service event to benefit the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Center. Mike Chance is Findlay's new director of this event. Skip Kelley announced the next Garage Gang will be at Jim Weeks' garage and that the next Cars & Coffee event is on July 4th, additionally, Skip Kelley will be having a 4th of July party that day at his home. Skip Kelley also announced that tonight is the last chance to sign up for the 7/11/15 Bye Bye Birdie event at Spring Mountain Ranch. The July 17th Classy Vettes Dinner will be hosted by Ron & Kay Petersen. Miscellaneous Announcements: Benita Klaizner knows of a 1958 Corvette that is for sale for $70,000.00. The car was restored at Tuckers Performance Center. Benita Klaizner stated the owner's name is Rex and to call her for contact information if interested. Clean Car Award: Larry Leard, with Jim Weeks assisting in the selection, gave the Clean Car award to Ken Rees for his white 2015 Z06. Badge Drawing: was not won this month. 50/50: was won by Jim Ranney. Motion to Adjourn: was made by Ken Rees, seconded by Cindy Fuller. The motion carried and was passed.
