General Membership Meeting - May 14, 2015 - Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Scott Mergele at 7:30 PM at the Landings Restaurant. There were 46 members and 7 guests present. Scott Mergele welcomed everyone here tonight.

Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens & Paul Patane thanked everyone for our loyalty. He then informed us that for the month of May free AC service, except if you need R12 Freon, there will be a charge for this. He then asked what we would like from them in service? He then randomly choose from our membership names, Linda Ford to receive a free detail. Findlay is proud to be our sponsor.

A motion to approve the April 2015 meeting minutes
- Bob O'Brien made the motion to approve as presented, Jim Gregorio seconded, motion passed, motion approved.

Birthday's were read by Scott Mergele.

President's Report: Scott Mergele informed us that Ron & Kay Petersen's daughter passed away. Please remember their family in your thoughts and prayers. Nevada Open Road Race is this weekend in Ely.

Old Business: Scott Mergele presented the Standing Rule change for increasing the Yearly Individual Dues, Section 1.(b (1) - dues currently are $36.00 per individual, increase would be $72.00 per individual. Dues have not been raised in 25 years. Rex Wilhoite made a motion to take off the "tabled" for this change to be voted on, seconded by Skip Kelley, motion passed. Benita Klaizner made a motion to vote on Standing Rule change to increase the Yearly Dues, this was seconded by Bob O'Brien, motion passed. Scott Mergele asked for any further discussion, with none presented he then asked to adopt the new Standing Rule change for yearly individual dues raised to $72.00 - Adopt: 27, Opposed: 2 Motion passed. Standing Rule Yearly Individual Dues change Adopted. Charley, Dataman, Jones reported that there is a flyer on the tables with instructions on how to log in on our website. Log in is your email address, then to check send password. A temporary password will be sent to your email address. Once you log in with your email address and your temporary password you can change the password to your own personal one. If you have any questions feel free to contact him directly.

New Business: Scott Mergele informed us that after 10 years, Ellie Johnson will be resigning as Membership Chairperson. Anyone interested in this position see Scott Mergele. Introduction of New and Prospective Members: Lin Hoernke stated that we have 200 members. Visitors tonight are Harry & Lois Tolmich, Gary & Karen Lowers, Roy Insco, Ken Insco and Mike Muti.

Committee Reports:

Storekeeper: Kathy Clapp, who filled in for Cindy Fuller tonight, reported that orders are in and the store is open.
NCCC: Carl Corbett & Bill Thomas reported on the NCCC Convention last month, it was a true success. Winners of events were posted in the Vetter. 8 of our members worked tech for 5 hours. For us working at this event, NCCC gave us a check in the amount of $1,032.00 Carl Corbett & Bill Thomas then presented this check to our Treasurer, Connie Gentry.

Upcoming Events. Roy Hoernke brought up Ingrid O'Brien - Classy Vettes Dining this month will be Friday, 5/22 at "Sauce" in Henderson, 6 - 9 PM. Roy Hoernke presented that on Tuesday, 6/3 in Summerlin there will be a car show for "Three Square" benefiting also Nellis AFB from 4:30 PM - 8PM This will be a Community Service event with $5.00 per car. Skip Kelley reminded us that Cars & Coffee will be Saturday 6/6 in Henderson. Classy Vette Dining on Friday, 6/19 will be chaired by Charley Jones & Scarlett Stuart, location to be determined. Scott Mergele reported that on Saturday, 6/20 will be our sponsors "Father Day Car Show" from 10 AM - 2 PM Come early (around 6:30 AM) so we can all park together. This will be a Community Service event, $5.00 per person for Fire Fighters Burn Foundation. Skip Kelley reported that the Garage Gang will be Saturday, 6/27 at the home of Jim Weeks. He also reported that Cars & Coffee will be Saturday, 7/4 in Henderson. Skip Kelley then reported that if anyone is interested in the "Bye Bye Birdy" event, he will be going tomorrow to get more tickets. See him after the meeting if you are interested. He then stated that the July Garage Gang will be held at our sponsors location - Findlay. Connie Gentry informed us that the Mt. Charleston Get-A-Way date has changed to Saturday 8/29

Miscellaneous Announcements: Benita Klaizner stated that the Spokane, WA Corvette Club is driving thru our city and would like to meet up with us for a drive down the strip this Saturday, 5/16 If you are interested see her after the meeting.

Clean Car Award:
Larry Leard informed us that he has also $40.00 Gift Certificate from Findlay's to award to the winner. Unfortunately it is raining tonight so no award. He will judge at the Classy Vette Dining on Friday, 5/22

Badge Drawing: was not won this month.

50/50: was won by Victor Rodriguez, Jr. this month.

A motion to adjourn: Scott Mergele asked for a motion to adjourn which was made by Roy Hoernke and seconded by Bill Childs. The motion carried and passed. The meeting adjourned at 8:47 PM.
