The meeting was
called to order by President Scott Mergele at 7:30 PM at the Landings
Restaurant. There were 67 members and 14 guests present. Scott Mergele
welcomed everyone here tonight. Findlay Chevrolet: Slim Stephens thanked everyone for our loyalty and patriotism. You are family - thank you, thank you, thank you. Scott Mergele informed us that our new Club Liaison at Findlay is Matt Masluk. A motion to approve the February 2015 meeting minutes - Jerry Lawrence made the motion to approve as presented, Bob O'Brien seconded, motion passed, motion approved. Birthday's were read by Julie Cantonwine. President's Report: Scott Mergele reported that we received a check from Findlay for a car sale, $300.00 He also reminded us to support our room location. Old Business: Charley Jones apologized for the 3 email announcements on list announcer. He stated that new changes are coming up, hopefully this month. New Business: Introduction of New and Prospective Members: Ellie Johnson stated that we now have 200 members. Visitors tonight are Ken McGuire, Caroline & John Orzes, Bridget Edwards, Tim & Anita Reese, Brent Garrison, Eric Garrison, John Bailey and Ken & Bealene Farthing. Ellie Johnson presented Bill & Kathy Childs with their new member plaque. Designated Charity - Scott Mergele stated that he has had phone calls and emails regarding the St. Jude's Ranch financial & CEO problems. The E-Board voted not to have a designated charity. Bonnie Corbett stated that originally this was voted on by the general membership, why not now? This can not be voted on by the E-Board. Pat Russell stated any money in excess at the end of the year would be given to our designated charity. Also would have to pay taxes on excess money. He would like to keep a designated charity. Sally McVane stated that she would also like to keep St. Jude's Ranch as our designated charity. Larry Duis stated why not just wait till the smoke clears and make sure our money is being used correctly at St. Jude's Ranch. Ken Ackeret stated that when we where running large events like Corvette Roulette this was hosting our designated charity. Large events have stopped. Doing events according to the chairperson's own charity choice is happening now. Monies coming into club and going out from club. Pat Russell made a motion to keep a designated charity, this was seconded by Carl Corbett with a show of hands. Opposed won, not passed. Standing Rules Change - Scott Mergele stated that he would like to change Standing Rules Section 2. (a) Regarding the General Membership Meeting to be held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM. The following sentence should be replace the sentence about Wednesday, "if the meeting cannot happen on the preferred day, an alternate day may be used". Lanny Lowman made a motion to adopt the Standing Rules Changes as submitted, this was seconded by Linda Simpson. Motion was adopted as submitted. Standing Rules Change - Scott Mergele stated that it is time to make a change to Standing Rules Section 1. (b) Dues - Scott Mergele made the suggestion to raise the individual dues up by $36.00 a year. This would bring the individual dues to $72.00 per person along with the NCCC charges. This raise would be solely used for room meeting rent and this would be a separate line item on the budget. Scott Mergele asked for a motion to accept this Standing Rule Change, Roy Hoernke made a motion to adopt this change as suggested on raising the dues, this was seconded by Linda Simpson. After other numerous discussion on raising dues, what and how it would be used, Carl Hastings made a motion to table the original motion to raise the dues until next month. Discussion was had regarding precedence over original motion, it was determined that the motion to table does take precedence. Ken Ackeret seconded this motion. A vote by show of hands was made: Yes to table - 34, No - 21, motion to table was approved. "Facility Fee" - Scott Mergele stated that a facility fee was needed to cover cost of our location. The E-Board had discussed this and came up with $15.00 per person. A ticket would be handed out at the door with current meeting date on it. All monies collected go directly to the meeting facility. Once you receive your bill for the evening of drinks & food this $15.00 would be applied towards your bill (will not include tax or tip). If you do not eat or drink this fee will be applied towards the room venue. This fee will cover us through the remaining of this year. Julie Cantonwine stated that we need a larger room. Connie Gentry stated that it is not fair to the ones not attending and we come and support the club. Ken Rees made the motion to accept this "Facility Fee" of $15.00 per person, Lanny Lowman seconded, motion passed, motion approved. Scott Mergele then stated that this will start with the April General Membership Meeting. Committee Reports: Sunshine: Scarlett Stuart gave a report on the following members: Peter Shevlin has passed away. We sent $75.00 to the Cancer Association in Peter's name from LVCA. Also a former member, Bill Gass, has passed away. She gave Bob & Ingrid O'Brien a flower arrangement in honor of their 15th grandchild. She then stated that David Karpa's cancer has returned and to keep him in our thoughts. Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller informed us that the long sleeve bling t-shirt has been discontinued. She still has the 3/4 sleeve - scope neck t-shirt. She also informed us that she has been researching matching men & women's long sleeve, button down tailored, nice shirts. Men's go to 6X, women's go to 4X. She will work on these and get a price for us. Cindy Fuller also informed us that our embroider was going out of business, she will do research on this but is open for if anyone has any suggestions. Racer's Edge: Lanny Lowman came in 1 Place at the Auto Cross on 3/14, he presented himself with a plaque. The next Auto Cross will be 3/22. Drag Racing: Ken Rees presented plaques to the Horsepower Club from the Dyno Day. 400 HP - Lin Hoernke, 500 HP - Larry Duis and 548 HP - Lanny Lowman. Upcoming Events. Roy Hoernke brought up Benita Klaizner for the St. Patrick's Day Parade, Saturday 3/14 in Henderson. We will line up between 8 - 8:30 AM at the Mormon Church, we are #52. Bonnie Corbett & Sally McVane will be bringing coffee for everyone. If you would like you can bring snacks, donuts, bagels, etc. to share. This is a Community Service event for St. Baldrick's for Children, $5.00 per person. Right now she has $180.00 After the parade we will going to Metro Pizza for lunch. Lin Hoernke came up to tell us of the next Classy Vettes Dining on 3/20 at TGIF in Aliante Casino, 6:30 PM. They will have special parking for us on the 5th floor of the parking garage, we will have our own room and if you wear any club shirt you will receive 20% off your bill. Skip Kelley reported that the next Garage Gang will be Saturday 3/28, 9 AM at Skip's house. Come talk cars, bring fix-it stuff. The next Cars & Coffee will be Saturday 4/4 at 8 AM, come early so we can all park together. Skip Kelley also stated to keep the date - 7/11 - open for "Bye Bye Birdie" at the Super Summer Theater at Spring Mountain Theater at Red Rock. Price would be $20.00 ($13.00 ticket, $1.00 chair rental & $6.00 parking fee). Carl Corbett & Benita Klaizner came up to inform us on the NCCC Convention at the Silverton on 4/9-11. There will be low & high speed, car show and 2 rally's. So far there are 310 NCCC members signed up and only 10 of us. We are doing the tech inspection for the low and high speed. Go online to register, NCCC has relinquished the $20.00 late fee for us. Scott Mergele stated that the Mile & Magnum Shootout on 4/11-12. Roy Hoernke stated that the following Classy Vettes Dining will be held on 4/17, more information to come. Miscellaneous Announcements: Sally McVane reported that the summer getaway will be 8/20-26. The route is all planned out and the finance part will be available next week. Benita Klaizner reported that Agnes Jiran is in Minnesota at the Mayo Clinic for cancer treatment. She stated that Agnes Jiran wants to thank Donna Mergele for the roses she presented to her at the Banquet. Benita Klaizner also stated that Agnes Jiran is not doing well and to remember her in our thoughts and prayers and to send her cards of cheer. Linda Simpson is selling her 50th Anniversary Edition. Jerry Lawrence stated that he will be playing at Paddy's Pub for St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday, 3/17 from 5-9 PM Clean Car Award: Carl Hastings & Ken Kroeger awarded this months winner to Connie Gentry. Badge Drawing: was won by Jan Watson this month. 50/50: was won by Kathy Clapp this month. A motion to adjourn: Scott Mergele asked for a motion to adjourn which was made by Bob O'Brien and seconded by Benita Klaizner. The motion carried and passed.
