called to order by President Scott Mergele at 7:30 PM in the Stallion
Mountain Golf Club Grill Room. There were 107 members and 11 guests present.
Scott Mergele welcomed everyone here tonight. Findlay Chevrolet: Doug Fleming thanked everyone for coming out to the Thanksgiving Car Show last month. One reason he loves his jobs and coming to LVCA is that he gets to meet new people and make new friends. He recognized Lanny Lowman and Paul Patane with Corvette Flag pins for each. Slim Stephens also said "thanks" for those who participated in the Thanksgiving Car Show. He then stated to make all your appointments for the headlight recall thru him. Scott Mergele invited Denise Karpa and Karen Layne from Las Vegas Valley Humane Society (LVVHS) to come forward where he presented LVVHS a check in the amount of $1,700.00 from Pets & Vettes. Denise Karpa made the announcement that she has 36 t-shirts from Pets & Vettes that need to be sold. If you buy one or more tonight for $6.00 you will also receive a Community Service Point. Dawn Gregorio, from the Election Committee, introduced those who were running for office and invited those who wanted to say a few words to come forward. Those who spoke were: Lin Hoernke - Director, Connie Gentry - Treasurer, Ron Petersen - Vice President, Amy Groves - Vice President, Scott Mergele - President and Skip Kelley - President. Ellie Johnson then read the list of members who were eligible to vote tonight. The Election Committee then handed out the ballots for voting. A motion to approve the November 2014 meeting minutes - Ken Rees made the motion to approve as presented, Bob O'Brien seconded, motion passed, motion approved. President's Report: Scott Mergele thanked his 2014 E-Board members for there work. He then also thanked the Stallion Mt. staff for all that they have done for us. Birthday's were read by Linda Ford. Old Business: Scott Mergele reminded everyone on the new meeting place starting next month at the Landing at the Executive Airport Restaurant in Henderson. Good food, nice room and no charge for the room. NCM Membership: Bob O'Brien & Ken Ackeret came forward to say that we are only $150.00 away from our goal. Members stood up or raised their hands to give money. The goal was met. New Business: Introduction of New and Prospective Members: Ellie Johnson stated that we now have 213 members. Visitors tonight are Marc Schwartz, Caroline & John Orzes, Daniel J. Washam, Jerry & Beth Doerschlag, Bill & Kathy Childs and Jack & Pam Chandler. Joining tonight is Michael Gatenby. Scott Mergele informed the membership that a Code of Conduct change has been made. In Article II, Section E the words "social media" will be added in place of LVCA facebook page. This was approved by the E-Board. Scott Mergele & Benita Klaizner took a check in the amount of $1,000.00 out to St. Jude's Ranch, which is our dedicated Charity, for our donation. Committee Reports: Sunshine: Terry Rees reminded us to keep Agnes Jiran in our prayers. She is in serious condition with returning cancer. Also to keep Don Jiran in your prayers also, he needs your support. Jerry Lawrence lost his mother in Toronto, she was 91. Also Patty Maize has had a couple of strokes last week and will be moving to rehab. Mark Wynne is a grandfather again. Mike Borders is back with us tonight after his surgery. Terry Rees then thanked everyone in the club for their support to her this past year. Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller reminded us that it is 2 weeks till Christmas and she has hats, tumblers, 40th Anniversary t-shirts, ladies bling t-shirts, camp shirts and jackets available for sale tonight. Community Service: Denise Karpa thanked everyone for allowing her to be your CS Chairperson. We had 19 CS events this year. Racer's Edge: Lanny Lowman gave a plaque to Patti Ackeret for winning first place in the 120 Class at SSCC. Upcoming Events. Roy Hoernke invited Ken Rees to come and tell us about the Dyno Shoot-Out. Ken Rees stated it was on Saturday 12/13, $50.00 per car, there is still room for more. Kay Petersen came up to state that the Cookie Exchange is Sunday 12/14, bring 3 dozen cookies to exchange. Amy Groves came up to say that we are starting back up the Friday Night, Social Night, with the first on 1/15/15, location to be announce later. Lin Hoernke reminded us that the Banquet is Saturday, 1/24/15 at Nellis Air Force Base. $45.00 for members and $55.00 for non-members, cocktail attire. Connie Gentry came to tell us of the Laps for Charity on Sunday, 1/25/15 10 AM track time. Meet at the old Shelby place at 9:15 AM. $30.00 for 3 laps and another $20.00 for 3 more laps. Moe's Racing Cafe will be open again this year for lunch. Register on line or register thru Connie Gentry. This is a Community Service event. Sally McVane came up to tell us that she and Bob McVane will be hosting a Super Bowl Party on Sunday 2/1/15. This will also be a Community Service event for Catholic Charities, bring coats and blankets. $5.00 per member or $7.00 for non-members. Scott Mergele informed us that his President's Run will be 2/13-16/15 in San Diego at the Crown Plaza Hotel - Mission Valley. This is a gated site and special parking for us, rooms will be $115.00 (plus tax). More information to come later. Miscellaneous Announcements: Ken Rees has C6 clear top for sale. Roy Hoernke asked Marko Radosavljevic to come and tell us about the Pennzoil offer. Marko Radosavljevic told us of the offer of free oil samples for any car for a year. Log onto their website for more information. Jerry Lawrence stated that his band will be playing on Tuesday nights at McMullan's Irish Pub - across from The Orleans and this Sunday at Boca Park. Skip Kelley reminded us that Cars & Coffee will be Saturday, 1/3/15, everyone come out to see great cars and meet new friends. Carl Hastings said that we brought 89 suitcases tonight for Child Haven. Clean Car Award: Larry Leard & Jim Buczek awarded this months winner to Bonnie Roush. Badge Drawing: was not won this month. 50/50: was won by Linda Simpson.
