The meeting was called
to order by President Scott Mergele at 7:30 PM in the Stallion Mountain
Golf Club Grill Room. There were 63 members and 6 guests present. Scott Mergele started by stating a welcome to everyone here tonight. Findlay Chevrolet: Scott Mergele pointed out that Paul Patane is here tonight from Findlay Chevrolet. If you have any questions regarding service be sure to talk to Paul. A motion to approve the March 2014 meeting minutes - Jimmy Cavallo made the motion to approve as presented, Peter Shevlin seconded, motion passed, motion approved. Treasurer Report: Scott Mergele stated the 2013 Audit was completed and everything is in order. Scott Mergele then thanked our Audit Team of Lennard Grodzinsky, Dawn Gregorio and our Treasurer Connie Gentry for a job well done. Birthday's were read by Scott Mergele Presidents Report: Scott Mergele thanked Jimmy Cavallo for the nice job that he does for all the event pictures in the Vetter and in a timely manner. Thank you also goes out to Kathy Clapp for the new LVCA Flyer that she re-designed and had printed, and a thank you goes to Findlay for their printing of the flyer and the Vetter. Scott Mergele then informed us that the funeral for Henry Grodzinsky will be this Friday, tomorrow 4/11, at 3:00 PM. Scott Mergele then stated that he was surprised that we could not get the participation that we need for the "Car & Stars" parade and car show. Lin Hoernke will be taking final sign ups tonight. We need 4 cars for Friday May 16th and 9 cars for the car show on Saturday May 17th. Old Business: Bob O'Brien reported that we will be joining the NCM (National Corvette Museum) as a lifetime member. Some of the benefits of this is 6 free passes, 15% store discount, VIP function invites and a plaque in the museum with our name displayed in the museum. This entry will be made by funds raised thru donations, no monies will be coming out of the budget. We will be holding 50/50's at events, personal donations and there will be a drop bucket on the sign-in table at each meeting. This bucket will also be available to take to events and functions. We have already raised $400.00 New Business: Introduction of New and Prospective Members: Ellie Johnson stated that we have reached 200 members. The visitors tonight are Greg Sandoval, Rich Gross, Amanda Wong, Darryl Walker, Doug Ealy and Bob Jenson. Committee Reports: Racer's Edge: Cathy Wilson presented awards for Drag Racing to Mike Kerro for 1st Place and Bob O'Brien for 2nd Place. Auto Cross to Lanny Lowman for 1st Place and Scott Mergele for 2nd Place. Cathy Wilson then informed us the next Drag Race will be Saturday, April 26th. Come out and join us or come to watch. Drag Racing: Scott Mergele reported that for this last Drag Race the overall winners were Darrell Wood is Winner Overall and Bob O'Brien is Runner Up. Community Service: Denise Karpa reported that she asking for any ideas and anyone who would like to put on an Community Service event such as helping at St. Jude's, Goody Two Shoes, dog adoption, etc., please see her. Website: Pat Russell stated that if anyone has any difficulties with the website to please be sure to see him. He also stated that he needs "tech tips" for the website, pictures, etc. Also that he is still looking for a new Web Master to take over next year. Sunshine: Terry Rees started that she is glad to see Paul Patane here tonight after being under the weather. Terry Rees also reported that Steve & Jan Tucker will be having another grandchild this year. She then informed us that she sent flowers from the club to the Henry Grodzinsky funeral. Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller showed the Club Shirts - polo & t-shirts- as the official Club Shirts. She then told us of some of the things available at the store: visors, hats, bling shirts, magnet backs for your badges, long sleeve t-shirts - v-neck for women - with "Vegas Vettes" down along the sleeve and thermal mugs. Upcoming Events: Scott Mergele brought up Skip Kelley for Cars & Coffee on Saturday, 5/3/14 at 7 AM in Henderson. Skip Kelley informed us that they held a 50/50 on his President's Run and the one half collected was $90.00, he put in another $10.00 to round it up to $100.00 and gave it to the NCM Fund. Scott Mergele then brought up Rudy Blum who stated that on Saturday 5/10/14 we meet at Railroad Pass and we will caravan to Kingman, have lunch at the Dam Bar, then drive over to Rudy & Cheryl Blum's house for dessert. Miscellaneous Announcements: Larry Duis came up to inform us that Kenny & Gloria Riemer, LVCA 29 - 2001, will be in town for a visit. He informed us that there will be a get-together at Calico Jack's from 1-6 PM on Sunday, 4/27th Come on by and say hi. Bob Jenson has a complete glass set for a 66 Coupe for sale, and other items. Bob McVane said that at the Super Bowl Party some one left a small cooler and 2 chairs. He has them here tonight, if they are yours see him after the meeting. Jerry Lawrence thanked everyone who came to St. Paddy's Pub on St. Patrick's day to see his band perform. Scott Mergele stated that next month's meeting will be conducted by our Vice-President Lin Hoernke, the Mergele's will be away. Clean Car Award: Larry Laird and Rudy Blum awarded this months winner to Benita Klaizner. Badge Drawing: No winner this month. Corvette Trivia Drawing: Was won by Dawn Gregorio. 50/50 was won by Barbara Belak. A motion to adjourn: Scott Mergele asked for a motion to adjourn which was made by Greg Welch and seconded by Mark Wynne. The motion carried and passed. The meeting adjourned at 8:34 PM.
