The meeting was
called to order by President Skip Kelley at 7:35 PM in the Stallion
Mountain Golf Club Grill Room. There were 61 members and 9 guests present.
Skip Kelley started off by welcoming everyone here tonight. Skip Kelley
reminded us that this was "our" club and let's have fun.
Findlay Chevrolet: Doug Fleming recognized his 2 fellow Findlay
representatives, Paul & Slim. Doug F. told us that Findlay's were
going to receive 26 - 2014 new Corvettes: 18 Coup's & 8 Convertibles.
Doug F. brought up our 2 Sponsor Liaisons: Scott Mergele & Ron Petersen.
He thanked them for their participation and service. He also thanked
Scott M. for the purchase of a new truck from Findlay.
A motion to approve the May meeting minutes was made by Terry
Rees and seconded by Bob O'Brien. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s
Report: Connie Gentry reported that we are running on target, looking
good. Connie G. stated that a full financial report is available on
the website.
Old Business: None
New Business: Skip Kelley welcomed Hib Halverson from the Southern
California/Southern Nevada Caravan Organizing Team to come and talk
about the 2014 Caravan. Hib H. reported that this will be a 6 day trip
to Bowling Green, KY. If interested he has flyers and information with
him tonight.
Introduction of New and Prospective Members: Ellie Johnson reported
we have 197 members. Guests attending were: Marlene Kolicius, Al Sears,
Lou Winget, Geriary Brascia, Christianne Terry, Hib Halverson, Steven
Evans, John Kindell and Jason Miller. Ellie J. then presented new member
plaques to: Ken & Kay Thomas. Ellie J. also informed us that she
would be going on vacation for July and August. Lin Hoernke will be
filling in for her while she was away. Lin H. will also be mailing out
the dues renewal for 2014. Election Committee: Benita Klaizner
asked for any past Secretaries or Treasures to please come and state
a little personal reason they served in these offices: Secretary - Cathy
Wilson said she wanted to serve and this was the easiest job - take
notes and help where needed. Treasurer - Connie Gentry said this job
was like running a business: deposits, write check, balancing, go to
bank & post office for a couple of hours a month, but that it wasn't
an easy job.
Committee Reports:
Website: Pat Russell had response cards on the tables for your
opinion for adding, taking off, new or old sections of the website.
He also reported that he has added a C7 section, which also had a link
to the GM website.
Drag Racing/Racer's
Edge: Cathy Wilson handed out plaques to the fellow Drag Racer's/Racer's
Edge participants: Scott Mergele - 1st Place NORC .4802; Ray Byrom -
2nd Place April 20, 2013; Pat Russell - Semi-Finalist June 2, 2013.
Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller stated that there was a mix-up with the
ladies 40th Anniversary T-shirts last month, she advised the ladies
who received their shirts to be sure to check the collars. Club t-shirts
are on order and the Club Polo shirts are special order item. Next month
will be "Christmas in July" with special savings and sales.
Cindy F. will be out next month and needs a volunteer to run the store
during the July General Meeting.
Sponsor Liaison: Scott Mergele reminded us that the Referral Cards
are available at the Registration table. Scott M. stated that the Findlay
Father's Day Car Show is this Saturday, 6/15, 8 AM - 1 PM. This is a
Community Service event, $5.00 per person going to the Las Vegas Firefighters
Burn Unit. Meet at Findlay's at 7 AM so that we can all go in together
and park as a club.
Upcoming Events: Steve Tucker started a new event of "Ask
the President a technical question" and this event is starting
tonight....Steve T. asked Skip Kelley to come up for his questions:
What is the difference between over steer and under steer? Skip K. answered;
over steer - assend swings out, under steer - just the opposite. Steve
T. stated that was a very good answer but that there was an alternate
answer: with under steer you have to see what you're going to hit. Skip
Kelley reported that the Sin City Supper this month will be held on
Thursday, 6/27, 6:30 PM at Dillinger's in Boulder City. Cathy Wilson
stated that the next Drag Racing event will be Saturday, 6/29, an evening
race, check the website for time. Denise Karpa came up to tell us that
she still had a ticket available for the Tuacahn Run play in St. George,
6/29 & 30. See her tonight or send her a email if interested. Skip
Kelley spoke on the 60 for 60 coming up on Sunday, 6/30 at Sunset Park.
Will meet at Findlay's at 8 AM for sign up and registration, then caravan
to park. We will arrive at the park at 9 AM, the public will arrive
at 10 AM. Skip K. also stated that he needs volunteers to help with
sign up, parking, etc. See him after the meeting. Skip K. then reminded
us that the next Cars & Coffee will be Saturday, 7/6, 7 AM - 10
AM. Connie Gentry came up to tell us to put on our calendars the Mt.
Charleston Run on Saturday, 8/10 and this will be a Community Service
event. Steve Tucker then told us that we are starting to receive calls
from the local High Schools for there Homecomings. If you have a convertible
or would like to coordinate one of these events to please give him a
call.
Miscellaneous Announcements: Jim Gregorio has C6 tires for sale
- cheap. Terry Rees stated that she has pictures of her son Troy's wedding
here tonight. Stop by for a look. Benita Klaizner informed us that they
will be leaving the first of July for their annual trip to Prague, Czech
Republic.
Clean Car Award: Larry Leard & John Fuller (winner last month)
presented this month win to Bob Lista.
Badge Drawing: Was not won this month.
50/50 Drawing: Won by Rudy Blum
Corvette Trivia Drawing: Presented by Ray Byrom and won by Scott
Mergele.
A motion to adjourn: A motion to adjourn was made by Jim Gregorio
and seconded by Irene Duis. The motion carried. The meeting adjourned
at 9:18 PM.
