The meeting was
called to order by President Skip Kelley at 7:30 PM in the Stallion
Mountain Golf Club Grill Room. There were 93 members and 11 guests present.
Skip Kelley started off by welcoming everyone here tonight. Also stated
that volunteers were needed to chair or host events. See Steve Tucker
for events packages.
Findlay Chevrolet: Doug Fleming reported that Findlay Chevrolet
was "Dealer of the Year" and #1 Chevrolet dealer West of Texas
in the U.S. He also stated that they were proud to be our sponsor.
A motion to approve the March meeting minutes was made by Bruce
Locker and seconded by Wanda McCurry. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s
Report: Connie Gentry reported that the audit was held last night,
Wednesday April 10th and all was in order. She reminded everyone that
she needs all receipts for events, supplies, etc.
President’s Report: Skip Kelley reported that tonight is the
last time to order the 40th Anniversary T-Shirts. Skip Kelley stated
that he had started handing out the 40th Anniversary Pins at the NCCC
Convention Awards Banquet. They are also available for $4.00 each. Skip
reported that we had 32 cars from LVCA at the St. Patrick's Day Parade,
and 23 from Vegas Valley Vettes. The final check given to St. Baldrick's
Foundation, charity for the parade, was $500.00 There were over 40 people
present for the Dinner Sin City last month at Famous Dave's BBQ in Henderson.
LVCA had 63 members and 3 guests participate in the NCCC Convention
last week-end. There were a total of over 358 members from all over
the U.S. who came. Skip Kelley thanked Benita Klaizner and all her volunteers
for a wonderful Rallye on Saturday. He also thanked Scott Mergele and
his team for the Tech Committee for this event.
Old Business: Skip Kelley stated that there was no Old Business
this month.
New Business: Introduction of New and Prospective Members: Ellie
Johnson reported we have 190 members. Guests attending were: Lou &
Lorrie Winger, Mike & Lynn Rabe, Jeff Termuhlen, Leland Leard, Lucia
Gonzalez, Victor A. Rodriguez, Keith Gronquist, John Kindell, Dan Banks
and Dennis Seay.
Committee Reports:
Drag Racing: Ken Rees reported that flyers were on tables showing
dates and sponsors for the Drag Racing series. The first event will
be April 20th, check the website for starting times. They will have
2 upcoming in June on the 1st & 29th.
Storekeeper: Cindy Fuller showed some items that were for sale in the
store: week-end bag - $15.00, thermal coffee mug - $10.00. She also
stated that they have old Club Polo Shirts on sale for $20.00. Cindy
Fuller also stated that they have 21 shot glasses left and tonight only
buy a shot at the bar and receive a free shot glass. Cindy Fuller stated
that she would not be here next month for the meeting and that she needed
a volunteer to run the store for her, Kathy Clapp volunteer.
Sunshine: Sally McVane reported that Joel Thies was here tonight
and doing well. She read a card from Joel thanking us for all our thoughts
and greetings. Dave Karpa got his reports back and he is in complete
remission. Tom Skagg's grandson got stationed in Hawaii and is getting
married. Wanda McCurry came up to thank everyone for their thoughts,
prayers and loving support during her back surgery last October. She
also stated that she has CRPS in her left leg and will require injections
every Wednesday. Sally McVane also reported that Thayne & Vickie
Colvin have a new great grandson, number 5.
Upcoming Events: Mike Groves reported that Dinner in Sin City
will be Thursday, April 25th at Wine 5 Cafe. Sign-up with Amy Groves,
the cafe holds 60 people, lets fill it up. Mike also stated that we
will be having a Drive-In Movie Night on Friday, May 3rd, we
will have our own area designated for us. The drive-in is located on
Ranch & Craig Roads. Skip Kelley reported that the next Cars
& Coffee will me Saturday, May 4th. Pat Russell reminded up
that the Nevada Open Road will be the week-end of May 16-19 in
Ely. 24 members have already signed up to volunteer their time. See
the website for racing details Scott Mergele reported that the Findlay
Father's Day Car Show will be Saturday, June 15th This will be
a Community Service (CS) event, $5.00 per person and you must be present
to receive you (CS) credit. The charity for this event will be the Southern
Nevada Burn Foundation, which is the charity of Findlay Chevrolet. Denise
Karpa reported that the Tuacahn Run will be the week-end of June
29-30, flyers are on the table and please check the website for more
information. The play this year is "Starlight Express". Skip
Kelley reported on the up coming 60 for 60 event on Sunday, June30th
from 9 AM - 1 PM (or longer), numerous other Corvette Clubs will be
joining us.
Miscellaneous Announcements: Ken Rees stated that his son bought
a truck from Findlay's and that they treated him right. Ken Rees also
reported that he is in need of course workers. Lin Hoernke told us that
her son is retiring from the Air Force. Pat Russell showed us the glove
compartment latch for a C6 and he would demonstrate how to unlock latch
when one fails Also check the website for Tech Tips and he could use
more so pass your tips on to him. Joanne Maioli reported that she has
a friend selling her 1964 Stingray, has been on cold storage for 30
years. She will get more information and get back with us. Debbie Cowles
reported that they are selling their 98 Pace Car, purple & yellow
for $45,000.00 Jeff Blue announced that he is celebrating his 10th anniversary
with his wife, his car and he was President of LCVA in 2003. He thanked
Skip Kelley for the good job he is doing, keep it up.
Clean Car Award:
Larry Leard presented this month winner to Lennard Grodzinsky.

Drawing: Was presented by Rudy Blum and won by Debbie Cowles.
Badge Drawing: No winner tonight.
A motion to
adjourn: A motion to adjourn was made by Lin Hoernke and seconded
by Jim Gregorio. The motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM.
