The
meeting was called to order by President Benita Klaizner at 7:32 PM in
the LVH Convention Room. There were 42 members and 7 guests present.
Dominic
Parisi - LVH: Dominic thanked us all for our patience with the last
minute room change and hopes that they can work out something permanent
for us. Unfortunately, due to financial circumstances the Tres Rio will
no longer be available for us, as it will be full time restaurant.
Findlay Chevrolet: DJ and Slim let us know they are always here for
us and if we need anything to just give them a call. They also thanked
Benita for her exciting purchase of the new 60th Anniversary Corvette.
A motion to approve the July meeting minutes: was made by Bob O'Brien
and seconded by Kathy Clapp. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report:
Benita said the treasurer's report is available on our website and if
you have any questions please see our treasurer, Denise Karpa.
Old Business:
New Business: The E-Board would like to propose getting new members
involved sooner. Benita welcomed the prospective new members.
Introduction of New and Prospective Members: Lin Hoernke introduced
our visitors and noted that several will be joining next month. Attending
were: Gary Lowers, Marty Bielaski, Joyce Colucci, Marlene Kolicius, Rudy
Blum, Ralph Terry and his daughter Crissy.
Committee Reports:
Drag Racing /
Racer's Edge: Cathy Wilson presented the trophies for the NV Open
Road. She also briefly noted the next events are: Midnight Mayhem on August
17, the Silver State 25th Anniversary on Sept 16th, the Mojave Mile Shootout
Sept 29-Oct 1st and the last two autocross races on Oct 7th and Dec 2nd..

Sunshine: Sally had some good news; Benita's daughter is getting married
next weekend, Rex is feeling better and Brenda Cavallo has a new grandchild.
Sally's has received thank you letters from: Street Teens, Carl Hastings,
Jim Gregorio, and Rex.
Webmaster: Pat asked everyone to update their car photos by just sending
them to him. He would prefer it if the photo included yourself. There
is a "for sale" section on the website and you can advertise
anything except business items. There are also current events, Hot items,
tech tips, and other club events.
Past Events: To expedite our meetings, past events will no longer
be an item on the agenda. Past events are posted with photos and items
about them in the Newsvetter and on our website. If there is an event
you think would be a fun event for LVCA, please speak to Benita or Ken.
They will be more than happy to help you to have a successful event.
Upcoming Events: Roy said the IPOF Charity Car Show will be September
8th and the cost is $30.00. It is a community service event and everyone
will caravan to the show. The Super Chevy Car Show will feature
autocross, drag racing and a car show. If you participate in the Saturday
car show you also get to do the autocross. If we have 15 cars participate,
the Sunday events will be free. To participate in a class, we need at
least six cars. The date is September 14-16th. Please see Skip. Breakfast
in the Park, sponsored by the Mossybacks, is September 23rd. You will
need to have your money in to Lin by next month. It will be held rain
or shine at 9 AM. Bring your own chair. The cost is $10.00 for members
and $12.00 for non-members.
Miscellaneous Announcements: Bonnie would like to get a group together
to see Wicked at the Smith Center. Anyone interested please see her. It
is $44.80 per person. Benita and Sharron said what a great "once
in a life time" experience the Prague Car Show was with 180 cars
in attendance from all over Europe. Skip will be participating in the
Serenade For Life Charity event at the Smith Center October 27th for Nathan
Adelson Hospice. It will feature Gladys Knight and Clint Holmes. The cost
is $38.00. Benita is taking orders for the book, 60 Years of Corvettes.
If we purchase 10 or more the cost is $32.50. (Regularly $50)
Clean Car Award: Dale Foust presented Karen Lowers with the award
this month.
