The
meeting was called to order by President Benita Klaizner at 7:32 PM in the Tres
Rios Cantina. There were 61 members and 3 guests present.
Dominic Parisi
- LVH: Benita thanked LVH and Dominic for supporting us and letting us know
they are offering great deals in their specialty restaurants for us as well as
the discounts at the Buffet & Paradise Cafe. In addition, if you are having
a special event you can call Dominic and it's possible that he can arrange it
for you. Findlay
Chevrolet: Doug Fleming, Sales Manager, thanked LVCA for their support and
said they sold 250 cars last month. He hopes we will all participate in the Findlay
Frank's Father's Day Car Show on June 16th. They will also be sponsoring our Corvette
Roulette Car Show in October. Slim Stephens, Service Manager, is giving a 40%
discount this month for EFI Services, 20% discount for oil changes, 10% off smog
checks and a $90.00 detail package. They also are offering a C6 cover for anyone
buying or referring a sale for a new Corvette.

Report: Benita said the treasurer's report is available on our website and
if you have any questions please see our treasurer, Denise Karpa.
Old
Business: Benita reported that the audit of our books is done and thanked
Dawn Gregorio and all who participated in the audit. Dawn stated all funds are
accounted for and all transactions are in order.
New Business: Birthdays
will continue to be listed on the agenda, but will not be announced. Please see
Sharron if you have not received your free drink coupon, courtesy of the LVH.
Introduction
of New and Prospective Members: Ellie Johnson reported we currently have 189
members. Our guests tonight are Eldridge Scales, Ray Byrom and 2nd Lieutenant
Mike Rees. Congratulations to Mike on his graduation and appointment. Jim Diefenbach,
Wendy Fidance and Bill Martin will receive their plaques tonight.
Committee
Reports: Racer's
Edge: The next Racer's Edge event is June 16th at the LVMS. Ken is awarding
three plaques for the April Fools Rallye. Third is to Ray Belak, second to Darrell
Wood and first to Lanny Lowman. Drag Racing: Ken said Lanny ran
the drag races and there were 9 participants. The next race is June 2nd at the
Las Vegas Speedway.
Sunshine: Jim Gregorius was diagnosed with
bladder cancer and is being treated with chemotherapy. Sally said Dave Karpa was
diagnosed with a tumor on his spine. He will be having radiation treatments. Our
thoughts are with them both.
Past Events: Lanny said the Midnight
Mayhem was a great time. Scott said the Mohave Mile almost did not happen due
to unfortunate circumstances by another club. The fastest car went 218.3 MPH.
The next event is 1 ½ miles on June 2-3 and LVCA members get a 15% discount.
The Mile Shootout is in September.
Upcoming Events: Tom Skaggs
said the Nevada Open Road Challenge event is set for May 17-20th. He also
reminded us that in September the Silver State Classic Challenge is having
its 25th anniversary. A Comedy Night is being chaired by Linda Ford on
May 26th at 9PM at the Alexis Park Hotel. It will be a fun night. Cost is $12.00
p.p. and profit will go to the club. Rex and Roy have planned a Run to Chloride
on June 9th. There will be a $5.00 50/50 for the club. They will leave at 10 AM
from Rail Road Pass Hotel and have lunch in Chloride. Unfortunately, circumstances
have changed the date of Breakfast in the Park to Sept 23rd. Lin said all
are welcome and it is sponsored by the Mossybacks. Roy Hoernke reminded us all
to try to participate in the Findlay Fathers Day Car Show on June 16th.
You will want to arrive at 8AM to park together. This is a free event from 10AM
to 4PM with free food and drinks. There is an optional $5.00 CS donation for Findlay's
charity. Street Teens Sonic Drive-In Event, chaired by Sally will be on
June 21st at the Sonic at 1458 E. Lake Mead from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. Donations needed
for these teens are: disposable razors, shaving cream, other care products particularly
in travel sizes. Donations can be brought to the June & July meetings. Sally's
Idaho Trip will be from Aug 3-7th to Park City, Jackson Hole and then to
Burley Idaho for a paddle wheel riverboat dinner. Denise is set for the Tuacahn
Outdoor Theatre. They will stay in Mesquite and have a bus to and from the
theatre for $20.00 p.p. Benita explained the Mt. Charleston Run for Connie.
It will be on July 21st and the cost for lunch is $17.00 including tip. Wanda
reminded us it is the 30th Anniversary Big Bear Bash. The date is June
29-July 1st. The cost is only $50.00 for registration which includes Friday and
Saturday night dinners, Saturday and Sunday breakfast and bottomless beer. What
a bargain! There will be a car show, autocross, game rallye and poker rallye at
additional cost, but there are huge cash prizes. It will be held in downtown Big
Bear this year. Get your rooms booked.
Miscellaneous Announcements:
Sharron read a lovely Thank You letter from Child Haven for our donations of suitcases
and back packs. Thanks again to Carl Hastings for arranging it. Ed Anderson has
a blue stretch bra for a C6 for $30.00. Scott Mergele said he needs 4-6 volunteers
for the Magnum Mile and your hotel will be supplied. Clean Car Award:
Larry Leard announced our new member, Jim Diefenbach won. Badge
