The
meeting was called to order by President Benita Klaizner at 7:35 PM in the Tres
Rios Cantina. There were 77 members and 14 guests present. Slim
Stephens, Service Manager for Findlay Chevrolet, said whatever we need for Findlay
to do he will try to make it happen. They will match any extended warranty, and
he gave the first three people to come to his table a free detail.
A
motion to approve the January meeting minutes: was made by Sherrie Wood and
seconded by Bob McVane. Motion carried. Treasurer's
Report: Denise Karpa said our accounts are in order.
Old Business:
Lennard reported that the audit of our books was almost done and a report will
be given to the members once it is finished.
New Business: Benita
would like to implement the Red Badge Program with Linda Ford and Gino Montoya
acting as ambassadors for prospective and new members. She would also like to
start a "Drive-in Night Out" program where members meet every two weeks
at a different spot for a night out. Interest was shown by our members, so Benita
asked anyone who is interested in chairing an event to please see her.
Introduction
of New and Prospective Members: Ellie Johnson reported we currently have 186
members. Welcomed tonight were, Wendy Fidance and Gary Moore as new members and
as guests; Jeff Termuhlen, Bill Martin, Fred Nelken, Greg Wallace, Marlene Kolicius,
Jim and Patty Jo Diefenbach, Louise Wynne, Mike and Robyn Howell and David and
Brandy Altmyer (with the gold corvette formerly owned by Carol and Frank Gagliardi).
Patrick Nardi received his Mossyback/10 year pin and David Mousow his member plaque.
Committee
Reports: NCCC:
Rex Wilhoite gave an overview of the NCCC program; there are 16 regions in the
U.S. and we are in the Western Region which has 30 clubs. There is lots of information
on the website at: www.corvettesnccc.org. They also send out the Blue Bars magazine
monthly. Please let them know if your address changes. He also mentioned there
may be a West Coast Regional meeting in Las Vegas in 2013 if everything can be
worked out.
Racer's Edge: Lanny Lowman said there will be an autocross
workshop on March 25th at LVMS beginning at 7AM. There is an article on our website
about autocross. A drag racing workshop was held and it went great. There will
be a Racer's Edge sanctioned portion of the rallye on April Fool's Day. A trophy
was presented to last year's rookie of the year, Russ Riner. Trophies for Racer's
Edge were given to first place. Lanny Lowman, 2nd place Mike Carro and 3rd place
Ken Rees.
Drag Racing: The drag race work shop was attended by
17 people. Ken Rees said the fastest time was won by Jim Gregorio, closest to
the dial by Ingrid O'Brien, best reaction time by Darrell Wood.
Store:
Luanne Montoya has lots of discounted items. Some of these are shot glasses, Corvette
black books, club shirts and CR t-shirts. Come and get them! Sunshine:
Larry Leard's Mom died at age 95, Craig Carrell finished his chemo treatments,
Jerry Klaizner's hernia operation went well and Vickie Colvin who was in the hospital
for several days is home recovering now. Sally did have some good news which was;
Bob and Ingrid O'Brien have a new grand baby.
Past Events: Sherrie
Wood's President's Run to Lancaster only had one bad incident. Someone backed
up into a new car. We wonder who… Rex? The group went to Edwards Air Force Base
and on Saturday evening had great music with a band and dinner. Sherrie got to
sing with the band like it or not! (Corvette Sherrie) A trip to the Petersen Auto
museum in LA was on Sunday.
Upcoming Events: Sherrie will be hosting
the April Fool's Day Rallye. Everyone is to meet at the Blue Hawk on Sunday.
The flyer is on the website. Irene Duis spoke about the Mossyback meeting
on March 15th at Calico Jacks from 8:30 AM. Ken Ackeret said there will be an
annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Henderson on March 17th. The cost is
$5.00 per car and the fee was waived. Bob Hulshouser said tickets are available
on the Wranglers web site for our Wrangler's Night, on March 24th, which
will benefit Henry's Place. Metro Police will be teaming up with us on this event.
There will be special parking and security. The cost is $13.00 per person with
$6.50 going to charity. There will be a center ice puck drop with Benita Klaizner
and Dawn Prendes. Ken talked about the Autocross workshop with Marvin Maize
on March 25th. Come out and learn with Marvin. Denise is already planning for
Tuacahn Outdoor Theatre. We will stay in Mesquite and have a bus to and
from the theatre. Flyers and registration are on our website for June 23-24th.
Pat Russell drew the winners for a registration discount for the Nevada Open
Road Challenge. Winner for the navigator was Jim LeMar and Driver was Cathy
Wilson. The race is May 17th -20th. Skip Kelley talked about the Super Chevy
Car Show on September 14-15. More details to come. Ken reminded everyone if
they want to have an event, please see him for instructions and applications.
Miscellaneous Announcements: Sharron said there is a 1972 Corvette
for sale. Details will be on the web site. Jim Gregorio said Spring Mountain will
be having an open house on March 31-April 1st. Skip's band is playing at Boulder
Station Railhead on St Patrick's Day. Cathy Wilson's husband is playing at Alexis
Park every Thursday night at 7PM. LVCA members get a discount
