The
meeting was called to order by President Sherrie Wood at 7:32 PM in the Tres Rios
Cantina. There were 56 members and 15 guests present.
DJ
and Slim, representatives from Findlay Chevrolet, thanked club members for their
participation at the car show. Slim has a $50.00 gift certificate for anyone who
did business with him in the last month. They also brought lots of raffle prizes.
A
motion to approve the April meeting minutes: was made by Nita Russell and
seconded by Marvin Maize.
Treasurer's Report: Copies will be on
the web site soon and are available at the sign in table.
Vice-President's
Report: Lennard announced some of the categories for the end of the year awards
so members know what they are competing for. Some of the categories are: Most
active member, most improved corvette, most events attended. Details are on the
web site.
President: Sherrie announced July birthdays and those
members present received a free drink coupon courtesy of the Las Vegas Hilton

Business:
Introduction of New and Prospective Members: Membership
Chairman Substitute, Carol Gagliardi, introduced guests attending: Bruce Locker,
Bob Ferrari, Kelly Stephens, Marlene Kolicius, Ray and Barbara Belak, Jerry Lawrence,
Karin Mirto Lowin, Sharon Boyd, Dave White, Allen Miller, Adam and Aron Luckette,
Nancy and Jim Abberger. We have 205 members. Dues statements will go out September
1st.
Introduction Doug Bradford form the U.S.O.: A check was presented
to Doug for the USO from the Indianapolis party for $215.00. This USO, at Mc Carren
Airport has been open since November 2010 and has served 18,00 military visitors.
There are 160 volunteers.
Committee Reports:
Corvette
Roulette / Silver State: Pat reminded us the information is on the website
and the time to register and book your room is now. He still needs volunteers.
Pat is also taking over the duties at Silver State this year along with Tom Skaggs.
This is a 90 mile open road race beginning in Ely and has been running since 1988.
Volunteers are paid $19.00 and course workers $50.00. Next year will be the 25th
Anniversary. The race takes place September 15-18th.
Drag Racing:
Sherrie reported the 2nd round was won by Jim Raney and round 3 by Lannie Lowman.
The next races are August 14 and 27th. The 27th is a Racer's Edge event.
Sunshine:
Congratulations to Karin and Gary who got married July 2nd. July 10 was Glenda
and Jim Lemar's 40th anniversary. Dave Karpa will be having open heart surgery
soon and our prayers are with him and Denise. Our dear friend and club member,
Don Ford, passed away on July 12, 2011 and many members, family and friends attended
his memorial service and Celebration of Life. A motorcade of over 44 corvettes
participated in the procession to the Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Our thoughts
and prayers are with Linda and her family.
Past Events: Denise
said what a wonderful time they had at Tuacahn with perfect weather. Twenty-five
people attended and rode the bus from the Casablanca to the show dressed in 50's
costumes. Terry Rees won best costume and Holly won the poker run. They raised
$180.00 for St Judes. Darrell reported on Frank's Fathers Day Car Show which 44
members attended. Four of our cars were in the top 25. The next show will be the
Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Upcoming Events: The Mt Charleston
Run Away will be on August 20th. Connie said to meet at the Santa Fe parking lot
to depart at 9:15. The lunch is $17.00 per person and proceeds benefit the Mt
Charleston Fire Department.
Miscellaneous Announcements: Denise
has the belt buckles for those who ordered them. Scot Merkle's friend has a 2007
convertible for sale on our web site for $38,900. Lennard said he has lots of
raffle prizes this evening and tickets are still available. Skip is restoring
his 67stingray and the process is posted on his Facebook page. Annie needs more
prizes for the CR raffle.
