The
meeting was called to order by President Sherrie Wood at 7:30 PM in the Tres Rios
Cantina. There were 72 members and 6 guests present.
A
motion to approve the March meeting minutes: was made by Darrell Wood and
seconded by Kathy Clapp.
Vice President: Lennard requested that
all members print their name legibly and sign in for all events. If you do not
sign the waiver, you will not get credit for attending.
Treasurer's
Report: Copies are on the web site and at the sign in table. Taxes have been
completed. April Birthdays: Names were announced and those members present
received a free drink coupon courtesy of the Las Vegas Hilton.
Old
Business:
New Business: Sherrie discussed her negotiations with Findlay
Chevrolet and suggested we choose them as our new sponsor. Sharron Grodzinsky
motioned we select Findlay and Bob O'Brien seconded. Motion carried. Discussion
continued regarding our club charity. We had just voted the YMCA as our charity,
however now that our sponsor is changed we should go back to St. Jude's Ranch
with the exception of Corvette Roulette which will maintain the YMCA. Motion was
made by Roy Hoernke to make this change and seconded by Steve Tucker. Members
voted to accept this change. Introduction of New and Prospective Members:
Membership Chairman, Ellie Johnson introduced guests attending: Bob Hart, Richard
Fisher, Karen Mirto, Jerry Blount and Hetty and Horace Noble. The Las Vegas Hilton
is giving us $10.00 coupons and Findlay Chevrolet will pay the first year's dues
for any new member purchasing a corvette. We have 205 members.
Committee
Reports:
Corvette Roulette: Pat Russell said the contract with
the Speedway has been signed and reminded us that Corvette Roulette is a community
service event. Room reservations are available and there will be an optional live
poker tournament.
Drag Racing: Ken Rees said information is on
our web site and the season is May through August. You need a helmet and closed
toe shoes to participate. News
Vetter: There was a prize for finding the correct number of Easter eggs in
the April Vetter. Sherrie won!
Racer's Edge: Cathy Wilson reported
the competition has changed to allow class races. People who have never won can
race against each other. Cost is $30.00 per year or $10.00 per entry. Cathy said
seven people participated in the Mohave Mile

Sunshine: Sally reported
good news that Sherrie has a clean bill of health. Unfortunately, Carol Gagliardi's
brother-in law passed away, Jan Tucker's Mom passed away, Bill Gass has pneumonia,
Ali wolf has 3 more weeks in her cast, Agnes Jiran is in chemo again. Don Ford
came to the podium to thank the club for all their support and let us know he
is going to the City of Hope to participate in clinical trials for his leukemia.
Past Events: Ken Ackeret told Sherrie he did not take the gavel.
Sherrie offered a reward of a dozen special cupcakes for the return of the gavel.
Wrangler's Night: Bob reported they raised $663.00 and he sold
101 tickets. Unfortunately the Wranglers lost, but a lot of fun was had anyway.
St. Patrick's Day Parade: Benita reported 49 people with 28 cars
attended.
Autocross: The first Racer's Edge autocross event which
Ken Rees won.
Upcoming Events:
Gamblers Classic:
Connie Gentry said she will be leaving at 12PM on Friday for the event which is
April 15-17 at the Laughlin Riverside. It is limited to 300 entrants. Details
are in the Vetter.
Wine and Cheese: Jim Wolf said this is the final
event and will be held on April 30th. Cost is $20.00 for members and $22.00 for
guests. This is a poker run and unbelievable food event. The event will go on
in spite of Ali's broken ankle and it will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Charity.
Helldorado Parade: Will take place at 7PM on Saturday May 14th.
Meet at 4PM. Details in Vetter. Mossyback Picnic: Meet at Town
Square at 10:30 AM on May 7th. The park location will be a surprise. Bring a phone
card with at least $5.oo for the military. Lin is your contact.
Tuacahn:
Denise Karpa said this is a community service event for St. Jude's Ranch on June
11-13. You can still get tickets on your own. The theatre is in St George and
the hotel is the Casablanca in Mesquite, with bus transportation to and from the
show which is Grease.
Silver State: Nevada Open Road Race May 12-15.
Bob McVane said Silver State needs help with the event and volunteer's rooms will
be paid for. There is a welcome party Friday night and safety check prior to the
event.
Indy 500 Hundred Anniversary Brunch: Pat & Nita are
hosting at their house. Be there at 8AM on May 29th so you don't miss anything!
Findlay
Car Show: On June 18th Findlay is having a car show and as our new sponsors
they hope we will participate. Ken does need a chairperson for this event. It
is a free show with food and beverages.
Miscellaneous Announcements:
Jim Wolf announced the third Sunday Brunch at the Orleans this Sunday. Jim Ranney
announced Spring Mountain racing has helmets available. Willy Salzmann has a '95
C-4 with 89,000 miles for sale. Linda Benton is participating in the annual March
of Dimes Walk-a-thon at Town Square. Vickie Colvin let us know Rick and Debbie
Cowles will not be participating in the Baker to Vegas Run. Ann Torres needs gifts
for Corvette Roulette raffle prizes.
Clean Car Award: Larry Leard
announced the winner is Glenda LeMar's C-6.
Badge Drawing: No winner.
50/50: $110.00 was won by Jimmy Cavallo.
A motion to
adjourn: was made by Cathy Wilson and seconded by Don Kot. The meeting adjourned
