The
meeting was called to order by President Sherrie Wood at 7:31 PM in the Tres Rios
Cantina. There were 78 members and 10 guests present.
A motion to
approve the February meeting minutes: was made by Tony DeGennaro and seconded
by Lin Hoernke.
Treasurer's Report: Our checkbook balance is good.
The treasurer's report is on the web site and copies on the entry table. Taxes
have been filed and donations will be addressed after the return is completed.
March Birthdays: Names were announced and those members present
received a free drink coupon courtesy of the Las Vegas Hilton.

Business: By-laws committee:
Roy Hoernke presented changes to two
standing rules changes for approval.
a. Standing rules wording clarification
change regarding NCCC minimum days notice for sanctioned events- Standing Rules
Section 4(a) - Events A motion was made by Darrell Wood to approve and seconded
by Carl Hastings. Motion carried.
b. Standing rules wording change regarding
release and waiver of liability and indemnity agreement. Standing Rules Section
4(c) - Events A motion to approve was made by Darrel wood to approve and seconded
by Carol Gagliardi. Motion carried.
New Business: Sherrie presented our designated charity for discussion.
It used to be St. Jude's Ranch. Now that Fairway Chevrolet is our sponsor we should
designate their charity, Bill and Lillian Heinrich's YMCA as ours. Members voted
to accept this change.
Introduction of New and Prospective Members:
Membership Chairman, Ellie Johnson introduced guests attending: Evelynne Brenner,
Bob Chaykin, Leonard Lewis, Louise Wynne, Renee Kiddee, Michael Rees, Jim and
Glenda Fulmer, Judy Thomas, and Sandy Ashby.
Committee Reports:
Corvette Roulette: Pat Russell showed the new Corvette Roulette
logo, design courtesy of Sherrie Wood. It is red, white and blue for the Americana
theme, has six stars designating the sixth CR. There is a 1973 Corvette representing
the year the club formed. The website is up and running with all the information
for the event.
Drag Racing: Ken Rees said information is on our
web sit, under competition for the five dates scheduled. Racing begins May 21st
and Protec Films is the sponsor. Ken encouraged those interested to come out and
experience it by riding with someone or just watching.
NCCC: All
competition rules for NCCC are on our web site. There are also a number of benefits
for belonging to NCCC including discounts and the Blue Bar magazine. Carl Hastings
stated now that we have new insurance, our limits are increased to $5,000,000,
officers and directors are covered, track vehicles are covered, and any theft
from our treasury. There is also a lifetime membership available for $300.00
Racer's
Edge: Cathy Wilson has added another race to the series which is the Mohave
Mile. This will be an Index race. The four types of events are autocross, open
road race, drag racing and Rally. There will be a Rookie of the Year award for
a winner who has not previously participated in Racer's Edge.
Sunshine:
Sally is ill this month. Sherrie let us know Agnes Jairan has four more weeks
of chemotherapy and Ali Wolf broke her ankle in two places.
Past Events:
Ken Ackeret reminded everyone if they want to host an event to contact him and
he will help you with the process.
President's Run: In spite of
snow storms and a few changes due to same, Sherrie had a wonderful event. And,
in spite of beer cans in her toilet and being short sheeted, it was lots of fun
for all participants. Photos and event details are on the web site and in the
Vetter.
Upcoming Events:
St. Patrick's Day Parade:
Will be March 19th at 10AM in Henderson and is a community service event. Staging
is at 9AM. Please decorate your car!
Wrangler's Night: March 19th
- This event is for Henry's Place charity. Tickets are $13.00 of which $6.50 is
for the charity. Arrive at the Orleans at 6:30 for reserved parking on the South-east
side.
Autocross: Marvin Maize let us know the first Race is March
27 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway parking lot. Register at 7AM or on the web site.
Marvin is happy to have anyone ride with him if you want to get an idea of how
fun it really is!
Mohave Mile Shootout: Will be held April 9-10th
at the Mohave Air and Space Center. Scott Mergele said it is a measured mile race.
Tech inspection is on Saturday and the event is Sunday. There is a 10% discount
for everything.
Gamblers Classic: Connie Gentry said she will be
leaving at 12PM on Friday for the event which is April 15-17 at the Laughlin Riverside.
It is limited to 300 entrants. Details are in the Vetter.
Wine and
Cheese: Jim Wolf said this is the final event and will be held on April 30th.
Last year there were 108 people and 54 corvettes. This is a poker run and unbelievable
food event. The event will go on in spite of Ali's broken ankle and it will benefit
the Muscular Dystrophy Charity.
Helldorado Parade: Will take place
at 7PM on Saturday May 14th. Details for staging are to come.
Tuacahn:
Denise Karpa said this is a community service event for St. Jude's Ranch on June
11-13. There will be a prize for best 50's costume. The theatre is in St George
and the hotel is the Casablanca in Mesquite, with bus transportation to and from
the show which is Grease. All money must be in by April 8th.
Miscellaneous
Announcements: Jim ----has on older car for sale with only 29,000 miles. Skip
Kelley is celebrating his birthday with Altered Ego this Saturday at 7PM at Boulder
Station. Scott Mergele let us know Centennial Buick is having a car show this
Saturday. Sandy Ashby is representing Usborne Books for educating children. You
can contact her to partner for your school. Holly has a friend with a 1999 navy
blue convertible with 49,000 miles for sale for $19,500. Bonnie Corbett has a
group going to a Jimmy Thackeray concert at Boulder Station March 17 with dancing
and fun. Pat Russell reminded us you can get a great tax deduction by donating
your old vehicle to Catholic Charities. Linda Benton is participating in the March
of Dimes walk-a-thon May 7th and would like you to sponsor her. Jim Weeks has
several parts for C-4s and he will donate all money from these parts to the Bill
and Lillian Heinrich's YMCA.
Clean Car Award: Larry Leard announced
the winner is Ken Kroger. You must be a member and have the logo in the window.
