LVCA General Membership Meeting
Minutes February 10, 2011


The meeting was called to order by President Sherrie Wood at 7:31 PM in the Tres Rios Cantina. There were 80 members and 12 guests present.

Introduction of Guest Dawn Prendes from Henry's Place:
Sherrie introduced Dawn who presented the conceptual plan for Henry's Place, a six week program and camp for children in southern Utah. This is the 5th year we have sponsored this charity at Wrangler's Night. With our help the project is progressing well.

Introduction of Fairway Sponsor:
Mike Klein was introduced and let the club know our business is appreciated. He also brought from our sponsor several items for our raffle.

A motion to approve the December meeting minutes: was made by Greg Welch and seconded by Darrell Wood.

Treasurer's Report:
The report is on the website and copies on the entry table.

February Birthdays:
Names were announced and those members present received a free drink coupon courtesy of the Las Vegas Hilton.

Old Business: The audit of the treasurer's books was completed and the records are in good order and tracked appropriately.

New Business: A balanced budget was presented and a copy is available on the website. After member review, the budget was approved as presented. Carl Hastings motioned for the approval and Bob Hulshouser seconded.

Introduction of New and Prospective Members: Membership Chairman, Ellie Johnson, stated we have 204 members. Guests attending were Dick and Jerrye McEwen, Vic Lundberg, Bob Chaykin, Walt Balinski, Richard and Kathy Fisher, Will and BJ White, Doug Stewart, Renee Kiddee and Lori Zinkie. Judy Harrison and Russell Riner were presented their Membership Plaques.

Committee Reports:


Archives:
Tracy Mersol was introduced as the new Archives Chairperson.

Drag Racing: Ken outlined 5 series of racing at the drag strip. You need a helmet, long pants and closed toed shoes to race.

Racer's Edge:
The four types of events are autocross, open road race, drag racing and Rally. Cost is $30.00. Go out and watch! They are all willing to help you get involved.
Store: Jan Tucker and Jennifer Searle have taken the responsibility for the store. Special prices were announced.

Sunshine: Sally McVane let us know Larry Malasoma is recovering from an aortic aneurysm repair and he sent a note thanking the club for their support.

Past Events: Ken Ackeret reminded everyone if they want to host an event to contact him and he will help you.

Annual Awards Banquet: There were 100 registered guests and the Sunset Gardens made a wonderful venue. Everyone had a great time. Kathy Clapp presented the remaining awards and the
President's new "Bling" plaque. Ken announced our President has lost her gavel and bowling ball, but gained the famed hub cap. (Anyone knowing the whereabouts of gavel and ball please report to the LV police).

Superbowl Party: Thanks to Don and Jo Kot's hospitality, it was a wonderful event. Bonnie also thanked everyone who participated, helped and donated time and/or items for the raffle.

Upcoming Events:

President's Run:
Sherrie reminded us we leave at noon from Green Valley Ranch Casino and there will be fun events all weekend. It is $5.00 to register. There are no refunds after Feb 4.

St. Patrick's Day Parade: Will be March 9th at 10AM in Henderson and is a community service event.

Wrangler's Night: This event is for Henry's Place charity. Tickets are $13.00 of which $6.50 is for the charity. Arrive at the Orleans at 6:30 for reserved parking.

Racers Edge: First Race is March 27 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway parking lot.

Mohave Mile Shootout:
Will be held April 9-10th at the Mohave Air and Space Center. Contact Mike Borders for questions.

Gamblers Classic:
April 15-17 at the Laughlin Riverside Resort. It is limited to 300 entrants. Details are in the Vetter.

Wine and Cheese:
This is the final event to be held on April 30th. Last year there were 108 people and 54 corvettes. This is a poker run and unbelievable food event.

Tuacahn:
June 11-13. The theatre is in St George and hotel is the Casablanca in Mesquite, with bus transportation to and from the show which is Grease. All money must be in by April 8th.

Miscellaneous Announcements:

Larry Duis announced a planned trip to Australia in 2012. If interested contact him. Jim Wolf announced the Feb Sunday buffet is cancelled. Joel asked if there is any interest in the Greg London show at the Hilton. Skip announced the Super Chevy Show is the last weekend of March and Altered Ego is at the Railhead Saloon March 12. Rex Wilhoite announced a trip to Paris led by his fiancé Evelynne May 26-June 5th.

Clean Car Award:
Roy Hoernke announced the winner is Bob Lista. You must be a member and have the logo in the window.

Badge Drawing:
No winner.

50 /50:
Won by Tommy DeGennaro.

A motion to adjourn: was made by Terry Rees and seconded by Linda Benton. The meeting adjourned at 8:59 PM.
