General Membership Meeting - September 9, 2010 - Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Sherrie W. at 7:32pm in the Tres Rios Cantina next to the Paradise Café at the Las Vegas Hilton. There were 80 members and 7 guests present.

Mike Klein from Fairway Chevrolet reported that there were major changes coming from the dealership and GM. There have been rumors that the Corvette plant is going to be moved from Bowling Green to Detroit. That is false. Also false is the rumor that production of the Corvette will be halted. GM production will be reduced to 12 facilities all over the United States for all their vehicles and each facility will have double shifts. There will only be 18-20,000 Corvettes produced, GM hoped that number would be 32,000. Sherrie W. presented Mike a $640 check (partial proceeds from Corvette Roulette 2010), to go to Fairway's charity, the Bill & Lilly Heinrich YMCA.

A motion to approve the August meeting minutes was made by Terry R., 2nd by Roy H., motion carried.

Treasurer's Report review: Dave B. stated there are hard copies of the monthly report on the membership table outside the club meeting room. We will have more income as the dues payments come in.

September birthdays were announced and those members present received a free drink coupon courtesy of the Hilton.

Old Business: Sherrie stated that she, Bonnie C. & Carol G. presented a $640 check (partial proceeds from Corvette Roulette 2010), to St. Jude's Ranch for Children along with cowboy boots, hats and kerchiefs left over from the decorations.

By-Laws Voting: Roy H. & Terry R. presented the 4 proposed By-Laws changes. They were first presented at the August membership meeting, published in the September Newsvetter and have been on the website for our review for the past 30 days. (Due to space constraints here, the proposed changes will be abbreviated.)
Article 4 Section 4: This section lists by what delivery method the membership will be notified of meetings: either written, printed or personally. The proposed change is to add email as a way of notifying the membership of meetings since 97% of the membership now has email. A hand vote unanimously approved to adopt this change.
Article 8 Section 2(b): The present wording lists the Appointed Executive Board Officers who have voting privileges. The proposed change is to add Webmaster to this list. A hand vote unanimously approved to adopt this addition.
Article 9 adding Section 11: If Article 8 section 2(b) is adopted, a job description for the Webmaster will need to be created. This new section does that. A hand vote unanimously approved to add this section.
Article 9 Section 3(a): This section states that the By-Laws and Standing Rules will be posted on the website for viewing by Members Only. The proposed change requests that not only the By-Laws and Standing Rules, but also the Code of Conduct should be posted on the website and be made available for the public to view. The By-Laws Committee recommends including the Code of Conduct on the website, but does not recommend making our governing documents available to the general public as it is not in the association's best interest. A hand vote unanimously approved to NOT adopt the proposed change in regards to making our documents available to the public.
If there is anyone who would like to submit proposed changes of any of the Association's official documents, please find the form on our website and contact one of the members of the By-Laws Committee: Roy Hoernke, Frank Gagliardi or Terry Rees as soon as possible.
