The
meeting was called to order by President Sherrie W. at 7:33 pm in the Paradise
Café at the LV Hilton. There were 92 members and 20 guests present. Dominic
Parisi from the Hilton welcomed us back and reminded us that there is secure parking
on the 5th floor parking garage, specially priced buffet with free beer and wine,
and $100 discount meal coupons for everyone for the month. He also announced that
the bar outside the meeting room is closed tonight (except for us), making it
much quieter in our meeting room. Motion
to approve the January meeting minutes was made by Don K., 2nd by Nita R.,
motion carried. Birthdays were announced and free drink coupons were passed out
courtesy of The Hilton. Sponsorship report: Don K. said Fairway Chevrolet
will be hosting their 2nd annual Chevy Show October 10th. He has an '04 &
'08 Z06 for sale. Treasurer's Report: Dave B. discussed the 2010 proposed
budget. It included a $6,000 overage and the board recommended $3,000 be allocated
to Corvette Roulette to reduce the registration fee for MEMBERS ONLY, and $3,000
to reduce the cost of tickets for the 2010 Awards Banquet in January 2011. A motion
to approve the 2010 budget was made by Lennard G., 2nd by Ron P., motion carried. Old

Business: Introduction of Prospective Members/New Members: Ellie J. stated
we have 210 members now. Please pick up your new membership cards and remember
to sign the NCCC waivers at ALL events. Guests tonight are: John & Cindy Fuller,
Sharon Boyd, Mike Borders, Dick & Peggy Browning, Ben & Donna del Villar,
Gordon Schlatter, Bill Thomas, Dennis Garnett, Jimmy & Brenda Cavallo, David

Skip Kelley and Torsten Holderman. A membership plaque was presented to Dominic
Parisi. Committee
Reports: Community Service Chairman Terry R. stated we had our first community
service event already with 54 members participating in donating to the Boy Scout
Troop Jamboree Fund. She is looking forward to chairing an LVCA committee which
is responsible for serving our community. She is honored to be associated with
us. Drag Series: Ken R. stated we will be able to drag 5 times this year.
Award sponsors have already been lined up. Cost is $35, plus $5 for the awards
fund. The first drags will be March 6, 1:00, then May 8th, June 26th, Sept. 11th
& Oct. 2nd. NCCC
Governor Carl H. presented awards to the following members for accumulating
the most LVCA NCCC points in 2009: Sherrie W. and Kathy C. tied for 2nd place
with 32 points and 1st place ladies went to Bonnie C. with 33 points. Dale S.
took 3rd place men's with 48 points, Darrell W. 2nd place with 66 points, and
Jim G. won with 72 points. Twenty-five LVCA men and 18 ladies earned 10 points
or more last year. Upcoming NCCC West Coast Region events include a March 13-14
Riverside low speed autocross; March 18-21 Reno Corvettes go on a Laughlin run;
March 27th Lompoc Corvettes host a low speed autocross; April 10-11 a Spring Mountain
high speed autocross school; April 11th Rancho Cucamonga car show; April 17th
Yucaipa rallies; April 25th Victorville People's Choice car show and an April
30-May 2 Monterey car show & rallye. There are 3 places to find a listing

our website and on the regional calendar in each NewsVetter. NewsVetter
Editor Don C. will be adding a new feature next month which will be a member's
spotlight column. Racer's Edge Chairman Bob M. invited us all to participate
in the 2 open road races this year: the Nevada Open Road Challenge May 13-16 and
the Silver State Classic Challenge Sept. 16-19. LVCA has helped put on these events
for 17 years. We work the ½ & 1 mile shootouts, doing the pre-grid,
final grid and final safety. Volunteers are needed and your motel in Ely will
be paid for if you volunteer. There is a different point system for RE and the
top men and women will win a nice leather jacket. It costs $30 to enter the RE
program. Sponsor Liaison Dale F. announced that Fairway has a new dyno.
Store: Linda B. modeled a denim jacket, bling shirt and visor which
are among the many items she has for sale. Sunshine: Lin H. stated Steve
Tucker had a pacemaker put in, Carl Wilson had shoulder replacement surgery, Agnes
Jiran is back in the hospital, Rich Torres is recovering from his knee surgery,
Kim McCord is feeling better, Bill McCord broke his arm at the Mesquite event
and Thayne Colvin has retired. Past
Events: Bill M. and Gary L. said the Mesquite Motor Mania event
was a good time (except for Bill falling in the parking lot at 1 am) and 13 LVCA
cars participated. They would like 20 cars next year. Seven members won an award
and LVCA received the Most Participation by a Club Award which was presented to
Don K. Two hundred dollars was the prize money for the club award. Carl H. made
a motion and Bob H. 2nd to match this amount and donate it to the American Red
Cross' Haitian Relief. After discussion it was decided to donate to a local charity,
so Darrell W. made the motion and Carl H. 2nd to donate to the Three Square Food
Bank, motion carried. Awards Banquet: Sherrie W. announced that 94 people
attended the annual banquet and she presented some awards tonight to members who
could not attend. A frame and picture of her event was presented to Earlene Krauss
for a First Time Event Planner & the Good Samaritan Award was presented to
Jim Gregorio. Although year pins were presented at the banquet, the following
members still need to receive their pins: 5 year pins to Randy B., Clayton B.,
Craig C., Eve G., (present), Melodie H., (present), Don J. & Bernell &
Julie T. The 15 year pins went to Dennis A. and Tony & Myrna B.; 25 year pins
to Leona B., & Sugar D. New Mossybacks are Ed A. & Dan M., but they were
not present either. Super
Bowl Party: Ken A. announced that 77 people attended and the event raised
$600 for the Boy Scout Troop. There was an MTT autocross in the garage which was
won by Holley L. Fastest time went to Jeff B. and the ring toss was won by Carole
& Rich M. Upcoming
Events: Connie G. discussed the plan for her President's Run to
Lake Havasu City which begins tomorrow. It includes a welcome party, pyrotechnic
display, river cruise, steakhouse dinner and a NASCAR party at the Cowles 2nd
home. The St. Patrick's Day Parade will be March 13th chaired by Benita
K. If you participate, you will earn a community service point. Parade starts
at 10 but we will stage earlier than that. Wear your club shirts and decorate
yourself and your car if you wish. Wrangler's Night will be March 20th
& chaired by Bob H. This CS event will benefit Henry's Place, a camp in Utah
for children at risk. The cost will be $17.50 and we will have our own private
parking with security guards at The Orleans. See Bob for tickets. The Injured
Police Officer's Fund Car Show will be March 28th at Sunset Park announced
Roy H. This will also be a community service event and we will all arrive together.

Jim W. would like us to participate in the Helldorado Parade May 15th at
7pm. He will know our staging location 10 days before the parade. Corvette
Roulette 2010, our largest event of the year, will be held at The Orleans
May 28-30 announced Bonnie C. There will be 9 NCCC events offered including 2
car shows for the price of 1, 5 rallies & 2 autocrosses. The Board of Directors
was introduced and the driving events chairman each spoke. They would like all
of us to sign up and also volunteer. Please see Ron P. for the car shows, Darrell
W. for the rallies and Marvin M. for the autocrosses. Sami V. is collecting raffle
prize donations from EVERYONE, please contact her and she will make arrangements
to pick them up. Meeting
location discussion: The Hilton is bending over backwards to give us everything
we need. Sherrie asked for a show of hands to approve continuing to have our monthly
membership meetings here and received an overwhelming positive response. Miscellaneous
Announcements: Benita K. is organizing a Mexican Cruise Oct. 17-24. Ron P.
knows of Z06 chrome rims for sale, $1,300 and four 15" wheels & tires
from a C2 for sale. Mike Borders announced the Mohave Mile event March 6th and
the June 26th Bonneville Race. Clean Car Award was presented by Larry
L. & last months winner Ken K. to Tommy D. Badge Drawing: Irene
D. won $50. 50/50: Sharron G. won $125. Raffle Prizes: A Bad
to the Bone apron was won by Jim W., a $100 Hilton gift certificate was won by
Jim W., a shirt to Bob H., a hat to Patrick N., a GM catalog to Connie G., a memory
book to Eve G. and cleaning products to Dennis L. A
