The first meeting of 2010 was called to order by President Sherrie Wood at 7:35 in the Paradise Café at the Las Vegas Hilton with 88 members and 13 guests present. Dominic Parisi from the Hilton was introduced and he thanked us for coming and hoped we will use the Hilton for future meetings. Not only is the Hilton giving us private parking with security, discount coupons, special buffet rates, free birthday drinks, raffle prizes and other offers and discounts, they have a great local's program which can be used at other Hilton properties. A motion to approve the 2010 appointed committee members not already approved last month was made by Roy H., 2nd by Bob O., motion approved. A motion to approve the December membership meeting minutes was made by Tommy D., 2nd by Irene D., motion approved. Dawn G. reported that the 2009 Audit was preformed and all is well. Dave B's Treasurer's Report was: "we have money in the bank and the bills are paid." He thanked Lennard for all of his assistance in the transition. January birthdays were announced and free drink tickets courtesy of the Hilton were passed out. Old Business: none New Business: Sherrie conducted a discussion on our meeting location. The Italian American Club was not working for us. They wanted to raise our buffet price and several vehicles were broken into at the December meeting. The manager has since been fired and we have been assured that the buffet price will remain at $10 and there will be a security guard in the parking lot from now on. A search committee has been exploring other meeting location options. The Hilton has welcomed us with many discounts & they will provide a banquet room for our meetings as we filled the Paradise Café tonight. Other meeting location options include The Terraces and the Mad Greek. A motion to stay at the Hilton for the February meeting and move to a banquet room was made by Jim W., 2nd by Curt M., motion approved. Introduction of Prospective Members/New Members: Ellie stated this is her FIFTH year as Membership Chairman. We currently have 206 members, down 37 from 2009. Twenty-one did not renew, 3 moved away, 2 sold their cars, 1 is undecided, 7 paid late and 7 did not respond. Pick up your new 2010 phone lists & new membership cards. Please let Ellie know of any address, phone or email changes. Community Service Chairman Terry R. wants the Las Vegas community
to know what LVCA has done to benefit the valley last year and she thanked
the club for their gracious contributions in 2009. Correspondence: Carol

and Catholic Charities for our donations last year. Communications:
Nita R. stated there are only 7 members who do not have email. If you
are having trouble getting email from the club, please let her know. NCM
Ambassador: Greg W. stated that if you want a build sheet from 1981
and newer, please let him know. NewsVetter Editor: Don C. will
be making some changes to the Vetter this year including inserting a photo
of each E-board member next to their name. The deadline is the 20th of
the month & his phone number is incorrect in the January issue, change
the prefix to 408. He received the first Ah Shit for the year. NCCC
Governor Carl H. passed out a flyer entitled Why NCCC? and discussed
the liability insurance we receive with our $25. The Monterey Peninsula
Corvette Club is hosting an event April 30-May 2. Sunshine: Lin H. announced that Dave K. had a stoke while at the Dyno Shootout and received great emergency care thanks to the quick thinking club members. Rich T. has a new knee, Jim G. had a stimulator put in his back, Jim & Kari A. have a new baby girl, Dale & Donna F. & Darrell & Sherrie W. are going to be grandparents again, and Ken & Terry R. are celebrating their 25th anniversary. LVCA is a big FAMILY, if you know of someone who is ill or needs help or have some good news to share, please give her a call. Webmaster: Pat R. hopes the website is useful to everyone. He needs more for sale items--it doesn't have to be Corvette related. He would also like pictures of member's cars. Photos of past events are put on the website as soon as he gets them &, a video from the dyno shootout will be available shortly. You can get any member's phone number or email address in the "Member's Only" section. Please let him know if you have any suggestions to improve the website. Events: Ken A. reminded everyone that WE put on the events, he just coordinates them. Please bring your ideas to him, the event packet spells out everything you need to do to host an event. Remember to sign the waivers at each event. Discussing past events at membership meetings will be kept to a 1-2 minute minimum (except when awards might be passed out), but you can read about them on the website. Suitcase Drive: Carl H. reported "they came; they dropped off, thank you very much". Cookie Exchange: Don & Agnes J. were very pleased with the great weather and help they received hosting their first event and $204 was raised for our charity. Dyno Shootout: Ken R. said it was a great day & Tom H. & Cathy W. filmed the event. Plaques were presented to Jim & Dawn G., new members in the 400 Horsepower Club and Roy H. in the 500 horsepower club. New Year's Eve Party: Dawn G. reported that it was a great evening with 43 guests attending. Upcoming Events: Mesquite Motor Mania: Gary L. said the caravan will leave from the Iron Skillet tomorrow. Annual Awards Banquet: Sherrie Wood stated you can still sign up until January 20th and you don't have to be receiving an award to attend. Super Bowl Party: Ken said come watch the game at their new home. The optional community service donation will go to help support a boy scout troop attend the national Jamboree. President's Run: Connie G. said it isn't too late to sign up, make your own hotel reservations. Wrangler's Night: Bob H. stated that tickets will be $17.50 with proceeds going to Henry's Place. The Wranglers will be playing the Alaska Aces. Corvette Roulette 2010: Chairman Bonnie C. stated the registration form will be on the website soon. Clean Car Award: Larry L. presented this month's award to Ken Kroeger. Badge Drawing: Don F. would have won $35 if he was present. Miscellaneous Announcements: Mike Borders discussed the Mohave Mile. Linda B. stated that the Reno Corvette Club is coming to Laughlin March 18-21. If anyone is interested in joining up with them, please let her know. Debbie L. stated they will be taking their RV to NASCAR Feb 26. If you are selling tickets they are buying. Ken R. stated Jim L. is working on a test 'n tune at the drag strip. Sally M. stated the Karpa's have 2 free tickets to Mesquite to give away. Walt W. thanked the club for the flowers that were sent to him during his illness. 50/50: $106.50
