The
last meeting of the year was called to order at 7:35 pm by President Connie Gentry
with 85 members and 12 guests present. Connie extended apologies for the full
parking lot as The Italian American Club had 3 events in their building tonight.
Ken A. & Kathy C. introduced Blackjack Corvette Club President Lori Ross and
her husband Matt who presented the club with the Monster Mash Car Bash Club
Participation Award. There were 23 LVCA cars that attended this event at the Hilton.
Veronica Huening from St. Jude's Ranch was presented a $2,500 check by
Bonnie C. from LVCA. Veronica stated that this check will be used for a Christmas
dinner for 62 children. Carl H. said if you did not bring a suitcase tonight for
Child Haven, you can bring them to the Cookie Exchange. Miscellaneous Announcements: Carol G. asked if anyone knows where the 3rd set of club storage shed keys are? Also, does anyone know where the 2 club banners are? Jim W. stated that if your name is on the list for the Jan. 2nd bus trip for the Pasadena Rose Parade float trip and you have not paid him yet, you will still be responsible for paying if you have not contacted him. He booked the bus based on the number of sign-ups. Kathy C. said she has the hard copy photos we submitted for the memory book if you want them back, plus photos from Cinco de Mayo 2008. Prospective member Mike Borders invited us to participate in The Mojave Mile shoot-out March 6, 2010 at a private airfield in Mojave, CA. Come drive as fast as you can down a 12,000' runway. The Bonneville 100 will be held June 26, 2010 in Wendover, NV where you will open road race down Highway 93A for 50 miles, turn around at Lages Junction and race back downhill to Wendover. There is a 2000' change in elevation on this course and the turnaround is at 6,000'. There is a 9 mile long straightaway and 12 miles of high speed sweeping turns. Roy H. will be the contact person from LVCA for these 2 events. Old Business: Bob M., Racer's Edge Chairmen stated that LVCA was given a check for $517 for working Silver State Classic Challenge. The NCCC Convention car cover drawing was won by Ed & Karen A. Ticket sales from this drawing went to St. Jude's. New
Business: Campaign speeches were heard from Sherrie W., Kathy C., Carol
G., Dave B. & Darrell W. Voter's roll call was taken and ballots were handed
out and counted by Sally M., Thayne C. and Jim W. December birthdays were
acknowledged and those present were given a ticket for the 50/50 raffle. Committee Reports: Sunshine Chairman Sally M. reported that Cathy W. got a new job, Steve T. is getting married, Jim & Connie G. have a new grandson, Thayne C. sends thanks for the cards and phone calls after the death of his brother, after 3 foot surgeries, Patti M. thinks this one did the trick & Lennard G.'s business partner passed away. Racer's Edge Chairman Bob M. presented a trophy to Jim L. from the drags. RE Rally awards were given to Curt M. 1st place, Tom Hill 2nd place, Tom S. 3rd place men's and Pat A. 2nd place ladies. Thanks for your participation and please sign up in January for next years program. Store: Vickie C. stated that the ¾ sleeved ladies shirts have been discontinued. She has enjoyed being the Storekeeper this year and encouraged new members to get involved. Events:
Sally M. said our donations of personal care items were greatly appreciated by
the Street Teens. Don C. thanked the participants and checkpoint workers
for the Rally Olympics. First place went to Ken A. & Kathy C., 2nd
Curt & Eliane M., 3rd place Jim & Ali W. See the website for the results.
The Comedy Stop had 42 participants and donations went to the Three Square
Food Bank reported Jeff B. He and Connie G. were interviewed on the radio. Upcoming
Events: Ken R. announced that the Dyno Shootout date has been changed
to Dec. 19th due to inclement weather on the 12th. He is still taking sign-ups.
Don & Agnes J. are looking forward to the Cookie Exchange and Jim &
Dawn G. invite us to the New Year's Eve Party. Bill M. would like to see
50 Corvettes participate in the Mesquite Motor Mania event. Sherrie W.
announced that for the first time in many years, the annual Awards Banquet
will only cost $25. You don't have to be receiving an award to attend. Ken A.
& Kathy C. will be hosting the Super Bowl Party. It will be a community
service event for a local Boy Scout troop to assist them in attending the National
Jamboree next summer. The Motor Trend Car Show was over Thanksgiving weekend
Roy H. reported with 9 club cars participating. Events Coordinator Bonnie
C. thanked everyone for volunteering to chair an event this year. The
Clean Car Award was presented to Bob L. Badge Drawing would have gone to Ken
K. if he was present. 50/50: $104 was won by Patti M. Merchandise Raffle:
t-shirts, a California duster and cleaning products were won by Jim G. (twice),
Jeff B. and Curt M. Respectfully
