The
meeting was called to order by President Connie Gentry at 7:30pm with 90 members
and 8 guests present. Motion to approve the September meeting minutes was made
by Jeff B., 2nd by Bob O., all approved. Treasurer's Report Review:
Lennard G. stated that our financial situation is better than we thought thanks
to Fairway Chevrolet, our sponsor. You can see his report on our website. New
Business: Connie read the October birthdays and free drink coupons courtesy
of the Italian American Club were passed out to those attending. Introduction
of Prospective Members/New Members: Ellie J. stated that prior to tonight we had
239 members and 2 members joined tonight. She has received 132 dues renewals for
2010. Please pay by October 15th or you will have to pay a $15 late charge. Ellie
announced the recipients of the year pins which will be presented at the Awards
Banquet in January. Those who will receive their pins are: 5 year: Randy Block,
Clay Bromberg, Craig Carrell, Rich & Debbie Cowles, Don & Linda Ford,
Eve Gray, Melodie Huening, Bob Hulshouser, Don Jiran, Nancy Ledwon, William R.
Salzmann, Bernell & Julie Torregano & Linda Simpson. Receiving their 10
year pin: Ed Anderson, Bob O'Brien & Dan Magno; 15 year pin: Dennis Ashby,
Myrna & Tony Byrd; 20 year: Larry Duis; 25 year: Leona Beltz, Sugar Drummond
& Marvin Maize; and a 30 year pin to Jerry McCorkle. Guests tonight are Karen
Mirto, past members Jerry & Kathy Zill, Sharon Boyd, Skip Kelley, Jim Miglore
and joining tonight are Mark & Frank Klein. Membership plaques were presented
to Janis Collins and Mark Wynne. Ellie announced that she and Larry M. have become
legal Domestic Partners. Nominating Committee: Connie announced that
Sally M. will be chairing the committee again this year and she will be calling
every member to see if they want to run for office next year. Nominations for
officers will be held at the November meeting. Please contact Sally if you can
help her in making these calls. Connie gave a brief description of the duties
of President Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Director. To see a full

Report: Don K. says the dealership is still in business and they have many good
deals for us. Committee Reports: Sally M. announced she is collecting
money for the NCCC car cover raffle which will be held in December. Proceeds will
go to St. Jude's. The car cover will be color-customed to your vette. Sunshine:
Sally read a thank you note from Cathy W., reported that Gino M. had a 5-way heart
bypass surgery today and is doing great. Don L. had right eye surgery & next
month will be a left eye surgery. He is doing much better and working his way
out of his grief of losing Charlene. Sherrie & Darrell W. announce the birth
of their new granddaughter Isabella and Art and Sharron M. announce the birth
of twin grandchildren. Sally also announced a Sonic Drive-in for Street Teens
event on Nov. 10th. It will be a community service event with donations of personal
care products. Meet at the Pecos Sonic 6:30-8:30. NCCC Governor Carl
H. announced that he still has West Coat Regional Champion patches for all members
in good standing. If you haven't already picked yours up, see Carl. He is working
with the webmaster to get all the West Coast Regional events on our website. Check
it out to see if there is an event at your out of town destination. Racer's Edge:
Bob M. reported on the Silver State race Sept. 18/20. There were 130 cars participating,
and all were launched by noon. See the website for our members who placed in their
respective speed categories. In Racer's Edge for the Drags: 1st place Bob, 2nd
Curt M., 3rd Jim L. Storekeeper Vickie C. displayed the new ladies patriotic
visor she now has for sale for $13 which matches our club shirts. Camp shirts
and ladies bling shirts are available and it is getting colder so don't forget
the denim jackets for $68. Events: Don & Agnes J. announced they
are hosting the annual Cookie Exchange Dec. 13th. Please bring 3½
dozen cookies. They will be serving chili, wild rice soup and lots of nibbles.
Guys, BYOB and come check out Don's cool garage. Mesquite Motor Mania will
be held Jan. 15-17 reported Bill M. There are 500 cars signed up already, and
the hosts expect 1,000. There will be several driving events including a slow
drag contest. All four of the casinos in Mesquite are participating, $15,000 in
raffle prizes will be given out and make your reservations by Jan. 4th. The Dyno
Shootout on Dec. 12th will check the HP on the rear wheels for 20 cars, 5
an hour, so please come watch even if you don't want to dyno your car. Call Ken
to reserve a spot & go to the "Competition" tab on our website for
more information. Ken also reported on the Oct. 3 Drags which were in the
daytime and much cooler than the summer events. Fastest mph went to Jim L. at
136 mph/¼ mile, taking 10.4 seconds. Curt M. got the closest to dial-in
time and fastest reaction time went to Jim L. First place went to Bob M. Homecoming
Parades: Sandy B's car (with Ken R. driving), Tom S., Mark W. and David G.
escorted the ladies at Rancho High School and Connie G., Roy & Lin H., Pat
R. and Holly H. escorted the ladies at Clark High School. The Coat &
Blanket Drive with mimosas and brunch will be hosted by Lennard & Sharron
G. Nov. 22 at their home. Donations will go to Catholic Charities. The Comedy
Shop event at the Sahara Hotel will be Nov. 20th reported Jeff B. It will
cost $30, with $15 going towards the show and $15 to the 3-Square Food Bank of
Southern Nevada. Buy your tickets before Nov. 6th. The Monster Mash Car Bash on
Oct. 24th will be held at the Hilton. Both you and your vette can come in costume.
The Rally-Olympics will be on Nov. 14th reported Don C. It will start at Fairway
Chevrolet. Don needs more help on his committee. The Autocross on Oct.
18th is a Racer's Edge MTT reported Marvin M. Registration opens at 7am. The 6th
annual Wine & Cheese Party Oct. 17th will also have a poker run for
Muscular Dystrophy, reported Jim W. There will be 4 start locations, please see
Jim to sign up. Jim is also organizing a Jan. 2nd bus trip to view the Pasadena
Rose Parade floats. He will be taking sign ups next month. The Tuacahn
Run was a lot of fun for the 18 attendees reported Denise K. The play was
great, the weather was cool and the poker was won by Terry R. It will definitely
be a Community Service event again next year. The Fairway Car Show is this
Sunday reported Don K. & Dale F. All proceeds will go to the YMCA. Come show
our sponsors how much we appreciate all they have done for us. Misc. Announcements:
Lin pointed out the flyers for the '93 40th anniversary vette for sale by former
long-time members Jerry & Kathy Zill. They are moving and must sell this beauty.
Carol G. joined the Italian American Club and reported on the Masquerade Ball
which we have been invited to Oct. 30th. They are also having a fund-raiser to
purchase 2 flat screen TVs for the bar. For every dollar in donations, you will
receive back the same amount in a gift certificate to be used in the dining room.
$25 increments please, see Carol. Carl H. asked if the membership would like to
have a Suitcase Drive at the December meeting to benefit Child Haven. Please
bring your suitcases in December. Skip K. invited us to the Chrome Showroom at
the Santa Fe Nov. 7th from 7-9 to hear 60's, 70's & 80's music. Larry L. reported
on his prostate cancer. It was not aggressive and was caught early. After 45 radiation
therapy treatments he will find out the results in November. Clean Car Award:
Dale F. presented the award to new member Mark W. Badge Drawing: $30 would
have been awarded to Gail Welch if she were present; 50/50: Anne T. won $113.
Merchandise Raffle: prizes were won by Ken D., Curt M., Darrell W., Mark
W. & Carl H. A New Members briefing will be conducted by Carol G. after
the meeting. Connie will be gone to the Phoenix NASCAR races next month so Sherrie
