General Membership Meeting - June 11, 2009 - Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Connie Gentry at 7:35 pm at The Italian American Club. There were 91 members and 7 guests present. Approval of May's meeting minutes: It was noted that the number of paid members in May should have been 232, not 252 as stated in the minutes. Motion to approve the corrected minutes made by Carl H. 2nd by Darrell W., all approved.
Treasurer's Report review: Lennard G. stated that we are moving along with the budget. We did get a sponsor, Corvette Roulette did better than we expected, and our total assets total approximately $38,000. You can see the full details of his report on our website.
Old Business: The Poppy Rallye 4/24-26 took in $1,518 and the Cowles (unbilled) expenses were $500. A motion was made by Carl H., 2nd by Bob M. and all approved to match the $500 so the total donated to the Cowle's charity, the Victims of Violent Crimes will be $2,018.
New Business:
June birthdays were acknowledged and free drink coupons courtesy of the Italian American Club were passed out to those attending.
Introduction of Prospective Members/New Members: Ellie J. introduced guests Marty Bielaski, Joe and Sandy Nalley and Chuck Searle. Joining tonight were Don & Janis Collins and Don Kilgore and a membership plaque was presented to Russell Wilkins. Ellie reminded everyone that she will be out of town in July and August so please get your change of address information to her now as she is preparing your dues statements before she leaves. She has been carrying around many old NewsVetters, please help yourself to any you want.
Committee Reports: Secretary Carol G. read a thank you note from Roy H. and stated that a letter from Temecula Valley Corvettes arrived with information on the re-tallying they had to do after their car show.
NCM Ambassador Greg W. stated that the museum is having two events in September. On the 3-6th there will be a 15th anniversary of the museum's opening and on the 10-12th there will be a Z06 Fest with an autocross, drag racing and a banquet.
NCCC Governor Carl H. stated that the patches we received for the highest point gatherer in our region are free to each member and they are available at the store if you haven't received yours yet. If you pre-ordered an NCCC 50th anniversary pin, they are at the store also.
Store: Vickie C. has bling shirts in new colors, all sizes of club shirts, memory books, hats and patches. She is taking suggestions for new merchandise.
Sunshine: Sally M. reported that Tomoko D.'s mother passed away in Tokyo and Don L. has been moved to another nursing home.
Webmaster Pat R. left comment cards on each table for our opinions on how to improve the website. He is asking us to find any errors and would like more photos of member's vettes as only half are represented. Please also send him your for sale items and note that in the Community Service section he places the most recent event first with the amount or items donated. There are lots of Corvette Roulette photos, a very complimentary article written by Corvette Super Sports on their participation in Corvette Roulette, plus photos from The Vegas Tourist who took photos during the car show. There is also a Competition site where he has combined Racer's Edge, drags and dyno. Please call Pat if you are having trouble getting into the Member's Only section.
Past Events: Events Coordinator Bonnie C. introduced the chairman for the following events: Bob M. stated that he needs more volunteers for the Silver State Classic Challenge Sept. 18-20. Bonnie thanked her board, all of the volunteers and the participants for their help with Corvette Roulette 2009. She proudly stated that it PAID FOR ITSELF! A total of $2,528 was collected from the raffle prizes and the board would like to round up the amount to $3,500 for the total donation to our charity St. Jude's. Carl C. made a motion, 2nd by Jim W. to approve this donation amount, all approved.
Drags chairman Ken R. reported on the June 6th event, which was the 3rd out of 5 in the series. See Ken's article for the winners. Next drags will be August 22nd, see the website for more information
Breakfast for Charity: Connie said Benita K. will have a final report next month as items are still being collected tonight.
Ride for Dave: Deb L. said there were about 20 LVCA vettes who attended this event with good food, great raffle prizes and although still ill, Dave was able to attend for awhile. Racer's Edge chairman Bob. M. presented trophies for the winners of the June 6th drags, May 9th Nevada Open Road race and the May 23rd Gimmick Rallye at Corvette Roulette.
Upcoming Events: The Fun Run to Yosemite 6/19-22 is ready to go reported Dave B. Connie stated that June 26th is the 9th annual Drive Your Vette to Work Day and her event, The Mt. Charleston Run Away (cool down & lunch) on July 18th will include a $5 community service donation to the Mt. Charleston Volunteer Fire Department. Sherrie W. is coordinating our participation at the Big Bear Bash June 26-28. There may still be motels available. We will have a Las Vegas 51's Night Monday July 20th coordinated by new member Earleen Kraus and Jim W. Cost will be $12.50 per person, $25 per couple, we will have preferred seating, designated parking, scoreboard recognition, one of us will throw out the first pitch, there will be a lucky seat giveaway and $1 food night. Game starts at 7:05.
The NCCC Convention will be Aug. 8-14 reported Bonnie C. with 2 caravans of your choice: the Gregorius' caravan will leave from St. George or the caravan with folks from Southern California, led by Rex W. There are 1,600 cars registered for the convention already.
Labor Day Getaway Sept 4-7 will be a relaxing weekend says Sally M. Enjoy a paddlewheel boat ride, BBQ, great scenery and company. The Tuacahn Run Sept. 26-27 will be chaired by Dave & Denise K. The only change to this event is that Saturday's lunch will be at the Casablanca in Mesquite.
Misc. Announcements: Connie showed a photo of her lost bowling ball which showed up again this time at Corvette Roulette. If you have any leads to its whereabouts, please let Connie know, she wants it back!! There is a red 1990 ZR1 for sale with 170 (one hundred seventy) miles on it for around $32,000, call Angel Y. Sherrie W. encouraged everyone to attend Pomona Valley Corvette Association's 1st Annual Gimmick Rallye featuring 7 NCCC sanctioned events June 13th.
Clean Car Award: Judging this month was done by Larry L. and last month's winner Tommy D. Congratulations to Lennard G.
Badge Drawing: Jim K. would have won $35 if he were present.
50/50: $138 was won by Anne T. and many other raffle prizes were given out.
Motion to adjourn was made at 8:45 by Lennard G., 2nd by Jim G., all approved.
