The first
meeting at the Italian American Club was brought to order by President
Connie Gentry at 7:35. There were 86 members and 13 guests present. May's Birthdays were read, but there were no free drink coupons tonight. Introduction of Prospective Members/New Members: Ellie J. reported that we have 252 members. Please be sure she has your correct address so she can correctly address our dues statements. Lin H. will be taking over for Ellie in July and August. Guest tonight are: Elaine Mather, Don & Janice Collins, Skip Kelly, Joe & Sandy Nalley, Bob & Jo Haas, Jeremy & Anne Thatcher, Steve Van Frank, Janis Caris and rejoining tonight is Tommy DeGennaro. Fairway Sponsorship: Don Kot passed around a flyer stating that he was getting fired from Fairway Chevrolet. (Just kidding, business is slow and the dealership will be around for a long time). If you are in the market for a Vette, please contact him. Committee Reports: Racer's Edge: Bob M. stated the Nevada Open Road race is this weekend. Store: Vickie C. announced that she still has the NCCC 50th anniversary pins if you haven't picked yours up yet including those for Bernell & Julie Torregano, Patti Maize, Dennis Ashby, Gino Montoya, Luanne Baker, Marko Radosavljevic, Linda Simpson, Mark Louis and Bob Blackman. Sunshine: Sally McV. announced that Tomiko D's mother is in the hospital in Japan, Don L. is in a TLC care facility, Jim R's brother passed away, and Carl H. had knee surgery. Past Events: Jeff B. reported on the Poppy Rallye 4/24-26 in Lancaster, CA. There were 11 LVCA cars and $1,383 was raised for the Victims of Violent Crimes. Part of the rallye took place on the singing road depicted in Honda's commercial and they also attended the Poppy Festival. Ken R. announced the winners of the Drags on 4/25, please see his article in this month's Newsvetter. Upcoming drags will be on 6/6, 8/22 and 9/12. See the website for the cumulative points for the Drag Racing Series and Racer's Edge Competition. Deb L. said that the Race for the Cure on 5/2 was very successful. Upcoming Events: Bonnie C. stated that our 4th annual Corvette Roulette, the largest event we put on, will be May 22-24th at The Orleans. There will be a meeting for all volunteers Thursday the 21st, 7:00 at The Orleans. Raffle donations will go to St. Jude's; there will be cars on display from Fairway Chevrolet, a bling t-shirt vendor, a health screening tent, car show, rallye and autocrosses. It is not too late to sign up to support this event. Benita K. discussed the Breakfast for Charity June 7th, a community service event. Bring your donations for Safe Nest to Winchell's Bar & Grill on Warm Springs & Gillespie from 9-noon. Fun Run to Yosemite June 19-22nd: Dave & Linda Benton reviewed the schedule for the event, and the cost will be $140 per person. Labor Day Getaway on Sept 4-7 will be hosted by Bob & Sally McV. Destination will be Park City, UT and Burley, ID, cost is approximately $210 per person (double occupancy). Clean Car Award: Congratulations to Tommy DeGennaro, who just re-joined tonight.
