The meeting
was called to order by President Connie Gentry at 7:31. There were 109
members & 9 guests present. Where did the President's bowling ball
go? It was "stolen" at the Awards Banquet, but looking at a
photo board that appeared at the meeting, the ball apparently went on
the President's Run and hung around Connie's car all weekend looking for
her. Connie said a reward for its return is "negotiable". The
Kohinoor Dining Facility is still working on getting their liquor license.
If you have any suggestions for better food or service, please talk to
the staff.
Motion to approve February meeting minutes was made by Anne T.,
2nd by Benita K., all approved. The Treasurer's Report will no longer
be put on the tables. However, Lennard will bring some copies to the meetings
for those of you who do not have email. You can now view the report in
the Members Only section of our website. *** PLEASE READ THE PREVIOUS
MEETING MINUTES AND THE TREASURER'S REPORT BEFORE COMING TO THE MEETING..

Al Bedford, Tim Cuthbertson and Jeremy Hutchings, representatives from
Ed Bozarth Chevrolet, made a promotional presentation on behalf of the
dealership. They also donated many items for our raffle prizes.
Birthday dessert cards were passed out to those attending.
Old Business: Sponsorship committee members Ken A., Dale F., Carl
H., Ron P., Jim W., and Jim G. in St. George received a round of applause
for all of the work they put in to find a sponsor for LVCA. Our new
sponsor is Fairway Chevrolet located on East Sahara. Their sister
dealerships are Henderson Chevrolet and the Auto Mall in Pahrump. They
will be our exclusive sponsor starting Feb. 09 through Dec. 2009. Some
of the terms of our contract include: they will contribute $12,000 for
the year. They ask that we refrain from supporting other dealerships,
but if you work for a competitor, you may still put a business card size
ad in the NewsVetter. They will help with Corvette Roulette, will publish
a full color ad in the NewsVetter, will provide an E-board meeting room
and there will be a direct link on our website to theirs. Their logo will
be on all competition and year end awards, as well as on event t-shirts.
They prefer that our charitable donations be made to the Lillie and Bill
Heinrich YMCA, but they understand we still have an obligation to the
club's charity St. Jude's. Corvette Roulette proceeds will still go to
St. Jude's and the Corvette Roulette board is looking for ways to include
the YMCA in the event also. We will hold a car show at their dealership;
they will pay for prospective members to join LVCA when they buy a new
Corvette from them and after they have met our joining requirements. They
will give club members a 15% discount on parts and 10% discount on service.
There will be a specific employee at Fairway we will need to contact for
these discounts. Dale Foust will be LVCA's point of contact and Don Kot
will be Fairway's point of contact. If you need something from our
sponsor, contact Dale only. Motion to approve Fairway Chevrolet
as LVCA's new sponsor was made by Carl C., 2nd by Roy H. A discussion
followed when the question was asked if all of our donations have to go
to Fairway's choice. No, we
will try to
accommodate them for Corvette Roulette and in other ways, but we do not
have to donate 100% to their charity. Don K. said that it is an honor
to be a member of LVCA and also to work for the oldest Chevrolet dealership
in town. They have been here for 40 years. There is a great car collection
on the property, see Don anytime for a tour. All approved the motion to
make Fairway Chevrolet LVCA's sponsor. Don and Connie then signed the
contract.
New Business: Membership Chairman Ellie J. stated we have 229 members.
Guests tonight are Russell Wilkin who joined tonight, Charlie & Louise
LaMarca, Elliott Kraus, Andre Symyk, Don Kilgore, Joe & Cindy Orrico
(West Coast NCCC Regional Competition Director) and Nicole Gagliardi.

Committee Reports: Racer's Edge Chairman Bob M. said there are
only 14 members who have signed up for Racers Edge this year and he would
like to see more women come out and race. Trophies are already ordered:
women and men will compete together for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places, but
at the end of the year there will be 1st place trophies and jackets for
men and women. Volunteers are needed for Silver State, the Z1Z competition,
and the ½ and 1 mile shootouts.

for the store. She now has for sale denim jackets for $68 and different
colored ladies bling shirts for $25. Sunshine: Sally M. reported
that Cathy Wilson's father has cancer; Tomoko & Ken DePiero are now
grandparents for the first time and she read a thank you note from Ann
Wilson. Webmaster Pat R. is creating a member's only FREE
ad section on our website. He will accept ads for Corvette parts, garage
sales, lost and found, anything except ads promoting your business.
Pat needs photos of your cars for the Members Cars section.
Past Events: Ken A. reported that his President's Run started
like clockwork. After lunch in Boron, a storm front came through and dumped
lots of snow in the mountains causing most to have to turn around and
go a different route to San Simeon. First place winners of the trivia
contest were Larry & Irene, 2nd place were Pat & Nita R, 3rd place
to Roy and Lin H. And much to everyone's surprise, the 'ole LVCA HUBCAP
returned, right under Ken's car. Roy H. told of the hubcaps origination
and the peanut can before that. Watch out, you may be the next victim
of the hubcap, you never know when or where it will turn up.
Upcoming Events: Benita discussed where and when we need to stage
for the St. Patrick's Day Parade March 14th; Bob H. said we have
our own parking lot and security guard for Wrangler's Night, also
on March 14th; Roy needs our registration forms tonight for the April
5th Injured Police Officer's Fund Car Show at Sunset Park. Jeff
B. and members Rick and Debbie Cowles from Lancaster, CA invited us to
participate in the Poppy Run April 24-26. There will be a 2 day charity
poker run, parties, silent auction and much more. All 4 of these events
are community service events. Upcoming Drags will be April 25,
May 9, and June 6. Don't be afraid to come out, we will teach you how
to run. Debbie L. invited us to contribute to the Race for the Cure
May 2nd. Debbie and Jim's daughter will be walking for us; we can donate
a minimum of $5 for a community service point.
The music played, the rolled up jeans and white shirts rocked to the music,
ponytails bobbed and Sharron G. led a cheer for LVCA as the Corvette
Roulette Board promoted the Rock Around the Clock theme for this year's
event May 22-24. There will be 2 parties, car show, gimmick/poker rallye
and two autocrosses. Download a registration form from our website and
come participate in this great event. Linda B. invited us to the Fun
Run to Yosemite June 19-22. The price has been lowered to $140 per
person. See her flyer for all the details. The NCCC Convention
will be in Colorado Springs Aug. 8-14.
