Kingman Run - May 10, 2014

The "Las Vegas to Kingman Run" was a huge success! Not only were there fifty-one members/guests seated for lunch at the DamBar Steak House, but we collected $370.00 for the St. Jude's Ranch for Children. Wow...a great effort by our LVCA members to show our support for our club and donating to St. Jude's Ranch for Children.

LVCA club members Mike and Lynn Rabe started their day early, as they left Lake Havasu City just after 7:00 am for their 150 mile one-way ride to the starting point at the Rail Road Pass Casino. Benita Klaizner and Linda Ford took care of registration/releases and Pat Russell assisted Mike with Lead/Back Door duties. After the drivers meeting and all details covered, the sea of Corvettes drove east through Boulder City, passed over the bridge and made their first stop at the Rose's Den Restaurant/Chevron Gas Station, for a quick gas/comfort break. As Nita Russell, riding "back-door" with Pat told me, "it was a very pretty sight as we started to crest a hill and ahead of us was all of those multi-colored corvettes hugging the road." That's the beauty of being a member of LVCA...being able to own drive, race, or just cruise in one of the finest sports car every made in America, the Chevrolet Corvette.

Everyone arrived at the DamBar Steak House without incident and we all were seated in the Andy Devine room for an outstanding lunch. Afterwards, almost everyone decided to continue their adventure and joined us for desert at our home in Kingman. While our corvettes were parked in the parking lot of the restaurant, many people stopped by to admire and take photos of our shinny rides. Even our Postman stopped in front of our house to take cell phone photos of the parked Corvettes. He waved and gave me a thumbs-up as he continued his route!

LVCA is one of the few car clubs that all the members jump in to give a hand to make every event a success. Example: Jim/Dawn Gregorius had a complete set of tools with them, just in case someone broke down and Jim might be able to get a club member back on the road. This time Jim's services and expertise were not needed, but he was there as a back-up just in case! Ken Ackeret and Jimmy Cavallo brought their cameras and took photos to make sure the run was well documented for our club. Benita Klaizner went that "extra mile" to make sure all the money was collected and talked to many LVCA member to get their support, even though they couldn't make today's run. Linda Ford helped out with the registration/releases. Mike Rabe put together the Sign-up Sheets, Route information, and maps to our house. Pat Russell combined all the information and posted it on our LVCA web site. Lynn Rabe and Jan Tucker made additional deserts. A special "thanks" to you guys and gals for a job well done!

Well...the only thing missing today was those LVCA member who couldn't attend. But, since LVCA has an event almost every weekend and with Cars and Coffee sometimes two, we will see you on our next LVCA event.

Thanks to each of you for supporting our LVCA charity, St. Jude's Ranch for Children, and to each of you who attended today's event.
