June 16 , 2012 Drag Racing at Las Vegas
Motor Speedway
by Lanny Lowman
Hot night for Vegas Vettes at the Strip. Temperatures
were in the high 90’s, low 100’s all evening. We had 16 cars registered
of which 12 were Racers Edge participants. Two cars did not compete
after time trials. As usual Lanny fell asleep in the lights and could
not overcome a .156 missed dial in and a .487 reaction time in the first
run. (I bet he quits making fun of the rest of the sleepy people now
that he seems to have joined them). Cathy Wilson got the “Pink” trophy
and Mike Kerro was the runner up. Really close finish with Cathy Wilson
running a 13.28 on a 13.25 Dial and a .063 reaction, time to Mike Kerro,
who ran a 13.99 on a 13.95 Dial with a .080 reaction time. Closest race
of the night. Curt Miller, who forgot to release the emergency brake
all the way, was third, with Angel Yumart running fourth. Cynthia Fuller
was closest to Dial in on her first run with a 14.958 on a 14.90 Dial.
Cathy Wilson had the fastest reaction time in the first round of eliminations,
with a .059 earning her the By Run in the second round.
I believe everyone had a great time. It was tough running the Racers
Edge participants against those who did not sign up, but in Drag Racing,
the winners are the winners. I have always heard that Fair is a place
in Kansas that happens once a year.
