Run to Chloride - June 9, 2012 - Select your Lunch

The Mossybacks have put together a Saturday run to Chloride Arizona on Saturday, June 9th. This is an event that will take place just before our June meeting - So, pay attention and read this e-mail.

Chloride is a ghost town that never really died...almost, but not quite! Chloride is approximately 60 miles from Las Vegas (about a one hour drive) just north of Kingman Arizona. To learn more about Chloride, please open the attached link and take a tour of on their web site. We’re confident that everyone that attends this event will really enjoy their visit there. http://www.chlorideaz.com/

There are ghosts of buildings that used to be lived in, ghosts of mines that used to be producing minerals, and ghosts of people that used to live here. The locals say there is a ghost miner sighting just every now and then.

Chloride may have the largest collection of yard art anywhere. Sometimes in some places there is green grass and flowers, but here (they don't have much water) they have yard art! It may look like junk to some people, but it is all in the eye of the beholder. Some of this stuff is really very clever. It is referred to by some as sculptural metal.

Our plan is to leave from the Railroad Pass Casino at 10 AM (June 9th) and arrive in chloride about 11 AM. There will be no stops in between because there’s no place to stop except a huge auto junk yard. Once we arrive, we’ll meander into Yesterday’s restaurant for lunch. They will be expecting us and have asked that we pre order our lunches so that no one has to wait too long to get their meal. A copy of their menu is attached so that everyone that plans on attending can look it over and let me know what you would like to have. Just make your selection and e-mail it back to me; I’ll let Bonnie (the owner) at Yesterday’s know your selection. (This means you won’t be sitting there for an hour waiting to eat; especially if we have big turnout). And if you like to sample various beer’s. Yesterday’s has one of largest selections of beer in the state, over one hundred varieties.
