Meandering
Mossyback Wine Run There were 39 people in 23 cars that were brave enough to put their trust in the confident, but uncertain hands of a few Mossyback leaders. Their expectation and hope was that they would be led to the Pahrump Winery in time for a tour, some wine tasting and a tasty lunch. After registration, some refreshments, the initial poker hand drawings and a quick driver's meeting, the first caravan left Tucker's parking lot a few minutes before the advertised time of 11:45 AM. The last car was out before 12:00, so this was a good start. The three caravans meandered to the south, then west, then south, then west, then north, then east, (do we really know where we are going?) then north, then west again, then south, and finally (wonder of wonders) east to the Winery. We had a planned stop about midway at Indian Springs to stretch our legs, relieve our bladders, grab a snack and draw a few more cards for the poker hands. Upon arrival at the Winery, we drew the final cards for the poker hands, took a tour of the Winery and were ushered into a private room for wine tasting and lunch. Following lunch, there was surprise recognition of the wedding anniversaries of Doug and Carol Ealy, Frank and Carol Gagliardi, and Steve and Karen Nichols. We all enjoyed a piece of their anniversary cake, and the Winery presented each of the couples with a bottle of wine containing a unique label recognizing their anniversary. Rick Tucker (our long time sponsor of Mossyback events continued to show his support by selecting and proving the award for a corvette that he felt was deserving of his annual award "Rick's Choice". Rick simply chooses the car that he feels best opitimizes his standards at that time and that car was the 2008 Blue Coupe of Don and Sue Tzareff. We also chose to livin' up the meander with a poker along the way and the best poker hands were held by: 1st Place to Simoni
Lista After the awards, there were picture opportunities, some spent
time and money in the gift shop, others went to visit family or friends in Pahrump,
and the rest found their way back home. The Mossybacks would like to say "Thank
You" to all the participants and we hope that you will come join the 10 year
plus members the next time we put on an event. Thanks to all the committee members
for taking a chance at a different type of Mossyback event. |
