The weather Saturday morning at Spring Mountain Driving School in Pahrump was breezy and sunny. Eight cars were shown by LVCA members in this NCCC People’s Choice car show put on by Hot Nevada Vettes. Other clubs participating in the car show included Corvettes West, Pomona Valley Corvette Association and Area 51.
While we were polishing our cars, other Corvetters were zipping around the track, including Carl Corbett, Marvin Maize, Jim May, Bob McVane, and Rex Wilhoite.

A C5 goes '4 off' meaning 4 tires off the track. Don't worry, nothing was
hurt!

Is that Carl? Check out the cool hills in the background.
What a great place to spend a weekend!

That's another C2 behind the bush, a blue one this time.
During the lunch break, we got to do two parade laps around the track. We had a pace car (truck, actually) keeping us safe, but were still able to get a little speed up on some of the turns.
The preceding 7 photos were taken by Willie
Salzmann, who rode along with Cathy on the parade lap.
Our club did quite well in the car show.

It must have been the bears!
Amber Ferrin (with her dad, Jim) got a
"Nice Try" trophy
Angel Yumart earned a 1st place trophy in his class!
Doris May got 1st place in her class, too!
Saturday evening was BBQ time with the racers and all you can drink beer and wine.
Lined up waiting for scrumptious BBQ!
After
dinner, the
50/50 and raffle prizes were awarded. All the proceeds went to charity.
Then it was back to the hotel for more partying.
Running through Pahrump that weekend was the Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay which consisted of law enforcement teams mostly from California. The marathon runners started coming through town as we were getting ready to turn in. Some support crews for the runners were staying at our hotel. There was a little trailer set up near the street and as the runners jogged by, someone announced their name over a speaker and people applauded. Some runners had lights on them. They also had a support vehicle driving alongside them, protecting them from any passing traffic.
It rained during the night, but had stopped by Sunday morning. It was a little cool, a little breezy and partly cloudy. I heard the runners went through snow on the pass, but it was perfect weather in Pahrump for a rallye!
It was an
NCCC Seven Sins Poker Rallye and it was in Pahrump, so, um…
…yeah,
this was one of the checkpoints!
Here are some of the rallyers. I don’t think anyone got too lost!
Cathy Wilson (driver) and Keith Riemer (navigator) won 2nd place with a pair of eights.
Tom Hill (driver)
and Pat Ackeret (navigator) got last place with a queen high!
Then it was off to the track again for two ladies-only parade laps. Woo hoo!
We had plenty of time to visit the Pahrump Valley Winery before returning to Las Vegas.
